100 Carson soldiers return to U.S. as military scales back Ebola mission in Africa
Poor roads, dependable local construction crews and improved Liberian health conditions were among the reasons why 100 Fort Carson soldiers sent to aid in the Ebola crisis returned several months earlier than expected.
In mid-November, about 150 soldiers from the 615th Engineer Company headed to Liberia with the expectation of a nine- to 12-month deployment to help build medical centers to treat Ebola patients. Instead, the troops spent about seven weeks in Liberia and arrived back in the United States on Friday, according to the Associated Press.
Before coming home, they will be monitored for 21 days in an isolated area at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma, Wash. Base officials told the Associated Press that none of the soldiers showed symptoms of the virus.

Executive Order — Imposing Additional Sanctions with Respect to North Korea
EXECUTIVE ORDER

IMPOSING ADDITIONAL SANCTIONS WITH RESPECT TO NORTH KOREA
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) (IEEPA), the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.), section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 (8 U.S.C. 1182(f)), and section 301 of title 3, United States Code; and in view of United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1718 of October 14, 2006, UNSCR 1874 of June 12, 2009, UNSCR 2087 of January 22, 2013, and UNSCR 2094 of March 7, 2013,
I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, find that the provocative, destabilizing, and repressive actions and policies of the Government of North Korea, including its destructive, coercive cyber-related actions during November and December 2014, actions in violation of UNSCRs 1718, 1874, 2087, and 2094, and commission of serious human rights abuses, constitute a continuing threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States, and hereby expand the scope of the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13466 of June 26, 2008, expanded in scope in Executive Order 13551 of August 30, 2010, and relied upon for additional steps in Executive Order 13570 of April 18, 2011. To address this threat and to take further steps with respect to this national emergency, I hereby order:
Section 1. (a) All property and interests in property that are in the United States, that hereafter come within the United States, or that are or hereafter come within the possession or control of any United States person of the following persons are blocked and may not be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in: any person determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State:
(i) to be an agency, instrumentality, or controlled entity of the Government of North Korea or the Workers’ Party of Korea;
(ii) to be an official of the Government of North Korea;
(iii) to be an official of the Workers’ Party of Korea;
(iv) to have materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, or technological support for, or goods or services to or in support of, the Government of North Korea or any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order; or
(v) to be owned or controlled by, or to have acted or purported to act for or on behalf of, directly or indirectly, the Government of North Korea or any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order.
(b) The prohibitions in this order apply except to the extent provided by statutes, or in regulations, orders, directives, or licenses that may be issued pursuant to this order, and notwithstanding any contract entered into or any license or permit granted prior to the effective date of this order.
Sec. 2. I hereby determine that the making of donations of the type of articles specified in section 203(b)(2) of IEEPA (50 U.S.C. 1702(b)(2)) by, to, or for the benefit of any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to section 1 of this order would seriously impair my ability to deal with the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13466, and I hereby prohibit such donations as provided by section 1 of this order.
Sec. 3. The prohibitions in this order include but are not limited to:
(a) the making of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services by, to, or for the benefit of any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order; and
(b) the receipt of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services from any such person.
Sec. 4. I hereby find that the unrestricted immigrant and nonimmigrant entry into the United States of aliens determined to meet one or more of the criteria in section 1(a) of this order would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, and I hereby suspend entry into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, of such persons. Such persons shall be treated as persons covered by section 1 of Proclamation 8693 of July 24, 2011 (Suspension of Entry of Aliens Subject to United Nations Security Council Travel Bans and International Emergency Economic Powers Act Sanctions).
Sec. 5. (a) Any transaction that evades or avoids, has the purpose of evading or avoiding, causes a violation of, or attempts to violate any of the prohibitions set forth in this order is prohibited.
(b) Any conspiracy formed to violate any of the prohibitions set forth in this order is prohibited.
Sec. 6. For the purposes of this order:
(a) the term “person” means an individual or entity;
(b) the term “entity” means a partnership, association, trust, joint venture, corporation, group, subgroup, or other organization;
(c) the term “United States person” means any United States citizen, permanent resident alien, entity organized under the laws of the United States or any jurisdiction within the United States (including foreign branches), or any person in the United States; and
(d) the term “Government of North Korea” means the Government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and its agencies, instrumentalities, and controlled entities.
Sec. 7. For those persons whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order who might have a constitutional presence in the United States, I find that because of the ability to transfer funds or other assets instantaneously, prior notice to such persons of measures to be taken pursuant to this order would render those measures ineffectual. I therefore determine that for these measures to be effective in addressing the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13466, there need be no prior notice of a listing or determination made pursuant to section 1 of this order.
Sec. 8. The Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State, is hereby authorized to take such actions, including the promulgation of rules and regulations, and to employ all powers granted to the President by IEEPA, as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this order. The Secretary of the Treasury may redelegate any of these functions to other officers and agencies of the United States Government consistent with applicable law. All agencies of the United States Government are hereby directed to take all appropriate measures within their authority to carry out the provisions of this order.
Sec. 9. This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

65% of American children are now dependent on government welfare
Nearly two-thirds of American children now live in households receiving aid from at least one federal agency, according to a recent report from the Census Bureau.
This staggering figure is based on data compiled from interviews from the fall of 2011 that were conducted as part of the 2008 Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP).
The federal programs being accessed by these households include Medicaid, the National School Lunch Program, the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
Of these programs, the one most commonly participated in was the National School Lunch Program, with an enrollment of 35 million children. In second place was Medicaid (26.4 million participants), followed by SNAP (17.3 million), WIC (6.4 million) and TANF (2.3 million).

Blood and Treasure
I will not discuss our lost treasure today. My outrage is directed to both the pResident and Congress for betraying our sons and daughters for their sacrifice in a war fought over nothing. It was not fought for our national security.
The end result is shown below as a victory for Iran. This is another example of the flawed logic that the enemy of our enemy is our friend.
Iraq is now lost. To war between Shi’ite and Sunni. Bring our soldiers home. Learn. And tell Congress to defund building the Iranian Revolutionary Gurards. I doubt they will listen.

Obama’s 2015 gift for Israel and Mid East: Funding for a new Iraqi army – dominated by Iran’s Rev Guards
President Barack Obama’s New Year gift to Israel and the Middle East is a multibillion fund for establishing an Iraqi army as a division of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). Wednesday, the last day of 2014, two defense ministers, Iran’s Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehqani and Iraq’s Khallid al-Obeidi, signed a pact whereby Iran i.e. the Revolutionary Guards, will “continue to train new Iraqi military units” for replacing the army that crumbled under the onslaught launched by the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant since last June.
“We do not see any other option than cooperation and being on the same side as Iran to uproot the terrorists,” said the Iraqi general.
But he carefully avoided mentioning the 1,850 US soldiers posted to Baghdad, Kurdistan’s Irbil and the Al Asad air base in the western province of Anbar, or the 1,300 addition American combat troops, including paratroops of the elite 82nd Airborne Division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team.
The 3,150 US troops currently serving in Iraq are therefore sharing the task of rebuilding Iraqi military units with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards!
The New Health Threats You’ll Be Seeing In 2015
There are the health woes we worry about year after year — think obesity, diabetes, and opioid addiction — and then there are the ones that threaten to catch us off guard. We’re talking about the public health enemies that emerge with sudden, unexpected force — and then leave us all wondering why we didn’t see them coming.
This year, it was Ebola, the deadly virus responsible for thousands of lives lost in West Africa. “Ebola has gotten most of the attention this year,” says Scott Weaver, director of the Institute for Human Infections and Immunity at the University of Texas. Yet, despite fears of a stateside epidemic, the virus never invaded U.S. borders in serious numbers — and it’s not likely to do so in 2015, he says, even as the war against Ebola in West Africa rages on.
But there are other viruses — some familiar, some not — that are poised for attack on U.S. soil in the coming year, whether we’re ready or not. And it’s just not infectious invaders we have to worry about, either — there are also a handful of homegrown health foes, ranging from fracking to inferior health insurance, threatening to tighten their grip in 2015.

Weaponized Ebola? ISIS Militants Said To Contract Deadly Virus
Forget targeted US airstrikes, ISIS faces a new existential threat. Citing an unnamed source in a Mosul hospital, Iraq’s official pro-government newspaper, al Sabaah, said Ebola arrived in Mosul from “terrorists” who came “from several countries” and Africa.
Mashable further confirms, three outlets reported that Ebola showed up at a hospital in Mosul. For now, it’s unclear if any disease experts or doctors in Mosul are even able to test for the Ebola virus; but it would mark the first time the virus had been detected in an area controlled by ISIS, a group that doesn’t embrace science and modern medicine.
Reports that Islamic State militants in Mosul have contracted Ebola swirled though Iraqi media sources on Wednesday. World Health Organization officials said they haven’t confirmed the cases, but the organization has reached out to offer assistance.

Protesters storm police headquarters in downtown St. Louis; 5 arrests made
What began as a ‘March to the Arch’ quickly changed early Wednesday morning as protesters stormed the front doors of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department headquarters. Their plan was to occupy the department for four and a half hours. The demonstrators refused to leave until those demands were met.
Around 10:30a.m., police say roughly 75 protesters participated in the march downtown before gathering outside of police headquarters. Nearly 15 entered the lobby and read a list of demands to department officials. Those demands included, a meeting with Chief Sam Dotson, Mayor Francis Slay or Board of Aldermen President, Lewis Reed. The protesters also want an immediate termination of Officer’s Flannery and Hayes.

Russian Banks Brace For Mass Account Withdrawals
Russia’s banks are under tremendous stress amid a plunging currency and ongoing Western sanctions over Russian involvement in the Ukraine crisis, and they will likely need more government bailouts to survive, according to analysts. Russian banks have responded to the ongoing financial crisis by cutting off loans to local businesses. Overnight rates have grown to 18 percent, indicating that financial institutions are anxious about even lending to each other.
Russia’s Trust Bank collapsed last week, forcing authorities to step in with a $1.7 billion loan bailout. Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said the government would also provide cash to state-owned banks VTB and Gazprombank, according to CNN Money. “Banks need to provide finance to companies that are under sanctions or are unable to go to capital markets,” Sergey Voronenko, associate director at Standard & Poor’s, said.
The Russian ruble has lost about 40 percent of its value against the U.S. dollar this year after the European Union and the United States imposed a variety of sanctions targeting Russia’s major industries in response to its involvement in the political and military crisis in Ukraine.
Russian banks are now bracing for mass withdrawals. In all, the Russian central bank has accessed more than $110 billion in foreign currency reserves to help shore up the ruble in recent months.

Why Is The Fed Hiring An “Emergency Preparedness Specialist Familiar With DHS Directives”
A few weeks ago, we reported that for some still unexplained reason, the US Treasury is ordering “survival kits” to its employees overseeing the federal banking system. To wit:
The Department of Treasury is spending $200,000 on survival kits for all of its employees who oversee the federal banking system, according to a new solicitation. As FreeBeacon reports, survival kits will be delivered to every major bank in the United States and includes a solar blanket, food bar, water-purification tablets, and dust mask (among other things). The question, obviously, is just what do they know that the rest of us don’t?
We still don’t know why. But what makes things even more surprising, and confusing, is that two days before the survival kit RFP soliciation became public on December 4, 2014, a just as curious notice was blasted by the Fed’s recruiting Twitter account:
