This Is What Is Going To Happen If Ebola Comes To America
If the worst Ebola outbreak in recorded history reaches the United States, federal law permits “the apprehension and examination of any individual reasonably believed to be infected with a communicable disease”. These individuals can be “detained for such time and in such manner as may be reasonably necessary”. In other words, the federal government already has the authority to round people up against their will, take them to detention facilities and hold them there for as long as they feel it is “reasonably necessary”. In addition, as you will read about below, the federal government has the authority “to separate and restrict the movement of well persons who may have been exposed to a communicable disease to see if they become ill”. If you want to look at these laws in the broadest sense, they pretty much give the federal government the power to do almost anything that they want with us in the event of a major pandemic. Of course such a scenario probably would not be called “martial law”, but it would probably feel a lot like it.
…
If you are exposed to the disease, the incubation period can be from anywhere from two days up to 21 days. But the average is usually about eight to ten days.
In other words, you can be spreading it around for over a week before you even know that you have it.
There is no vaccine for Ebola and there is no cure.
Not everyone dies from the virus, but most people do.

Is This What It Will Take?

I admit it: I had more faith in the American people. I would not have imagined that we would have accepted the consequences of tyranny so easily. History teaches us that appeasement of tyrannical acts is never the solution. Once the government realized that we would roll over and accept our chains with very little outcry, our Liberty has quickly dissolved. I do not need to list the grievances (you either already know them or you never will). Most people fall into one of three categories:
- They do not know or care what is happening.
- They do know what is happening but are “waiting” for a leader or event instead of acting with Sacred honor.
- They are part of this evil.
What will it take to regain our freedom? When people realize that they have nothing left to lose? Or when people stand up to evil? We have a simple choice: do we stand up to evil or do we act as the people in Germany in the 1930s and 1940s?
Got Faith?

Russia And Germany Allegedly Working On Secret “Gas For Land” Deal

Thanks to the Independent, we may know the answer, and it is a doozy, because according to some it is nothing shy of a sequel to the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact: allegedly Germany and Russia have been working on a secret plan to broker a peaceful solution to end international tensions over the Ukraine, one which would negotiate to trade Crimea’s sovereignty for guarantees on energy security and trade. The Independent reveals that the peace plan, being worked on by both Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin, “hinges on two main ambitions: stabilising the borders of Ukraine and providing the financially troubled country with a strong economic boost, particularly a new energy agreement ensuring security of gas supplies.”
Amusingly, this comes on the day when the WSJ leads with “On Hold: Merkel Gives Putin a Blunt Message. Germany’s Backing of Russia Sanctions Marks Breach in Pivotal European Relationship” in which we read that ” Angela Merkel spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin for at least the 30th time since the Ukraine crisis erupted. She had a blunt message, according to people briefed on the phone conversation:Call me if you have progress to report in defusing the conflict. That was July 20. The two leaders haven’t spoken since.”
They may or may not have spoken since, but it is not because Putin has “no progress to report” – it’s because the two leaders have come to a secret agreement which will hardly make Ukraine, or most of Europe, not to mention the UN, happy as it requires that Crimea be permanently handed over to Russia in exchange for Russian gas, which has been cut off for a month now due to non-payment by Kiev.
Here is how the deal came to happen:

Futures Tumble Again On Global Equity Weakness

If yesterday’s selloff catalysts were largely obvious, if long overdue, in the form of the record collapse of Espirito Santo coupled with the Argentina default, German companies warning vocally about Russian exposure, the ongoing geopolitical escalations, and topped off by a labor costs rising and concerns this can accelerate a hiking cycle, overnight’s latest dump, which started in Europe and has carried over into US futures is less easily explained although yet another weak European PMI print across the board, with UK manufacturing growing at the slowest pace in a year in July as a cooling in new orders and output ended the first half’s “stellar growth spurt”, probably didn’t help.

ICYMI: They’re actually suing the President!

Friend —
Yesterday, Speaker Boehner and House leadership did something that’s never been done in American history: They voted to sue the President.
What’s certain is that this is an utter waste of time and millions of taxpayer dollars.
But it gets crazier — this opens the door for extreme voices in Congress to call for impeachment.
I wish that was as unbelievable as it sounds. But look at John Boehner’s track record: He let an extreme minority shut down the government, gave them more than 50 votes trying to derail Obamacare, and now he’s letting them call the shots over a wasteful lawsuit.
This isn’t going to stop unless the American people demand it — right now, add your name to tell John Boehner you’re fed up with this nonsense.
As grassroots organizers who are working for real change that actually helps people, what’s most frustrating is that political stunts like this lawsuit only make it more unlikely that they’ll get something meaningful done.
John Boehner is the Speaker of the House. That’s a job that should mean something — the chance to fix problems and tackle the issues that the American people sent you there to do.
Instead, he’s one of the biggest reasons this is the least productive Congress in modern history.
That’s pretty shameful, and what just happened yesterday on Capitol Hill is making matters worse.
Add your name to tell John Boehner to knock off the political games and get something done:

Russia And India Begin Negotations To Use National Currencies In Settlements, Bypassing Dollar
Over the past 6 months, there has been much talk about the strategic proximity between Russia and China, made even more proximal following the “holy grail” gas deal announced in May which would not have happened on such an accelerated time frame had it not been for US escalation in Ukraine.
And yet little has been said about that other just as crucial for the “new BRIC-centric world order” relationship, that between Russia and India. That is about to change when yesterday the Russian central bank announced that having been increasingly shunned by the west, Russia discussed cooperation with Reserve Bank of India Executive Director Shrikant Padmanabhan. The punchline: India agreed to create a task group to work out a mechanism for using national currencies in settlements. And so another major bilateral arrangement is set up that completely bypasses the dollar.
From the Russian Central Bank:
First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation KV Yudaeva and Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India G. Padmanabhan at the twentieth meeting of the Subgroup on banking and financial issues of the Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between banks.
