Nation’s Largest Cocaine Smuggler Revealed: The DEA

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbGaWSXfbWk

From YouTube:

For decades, it has been rumored the United States government was secretly sponsoring the smuggling of cocaine into the country. Federal officials have long denied such speculation, pointing out the billions of dollars spent intercepting drugs. Newly released documents, and testimony from Justice Department and DEA officials now show the stories of government running cocaine are true.

China’s debt crisis suggests an India-like crash round the corner

The big story of 2014 is the black cloud of debt hanging over China. Debate rages over how this tale will end. Most analysts believe that the Chinese economy will once again expand by more than 7% this year, despite ballooning private sector debts. But the pessimistic minority has history on its side. Only five emerging nations have ever seen a credit boom nearly as big as China’s, and all those stories ended very badly.

These are powerful precedents. Recent studies have isolated the most reliable signal of a looming financial crisis, and it is the ‘credit gap’ or the increase in private sector credit as a proportion of economic output over the most recent five-year period. Looking back over the past 50 years and focusing on the most extreme credit booms – the top 0.5% – turns up 33 cases, with a minimum credit gap of 42 percentage points.

Today, China’s credit gap continues to grow and it is now the largest ever recorded in the emerging world, having risen since 2009 by 71 percentage points, taking the total credit burden up to 230% of GDP. Before China, the five worst credit binges had come in Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Zimbabwe and Latvia, all of which saw the credit gap grow by 60 points or more. All five suffered a severe credit crisis and a major economic slowdown.

Why Are Banking Executives In London Killing Themselves?

JPMorgan Tower In London - Photo by Danesman1

By Michael Snyder

Bankers committing suicide by jumping from the rooftops of their own banks is something that we think of when we think of the Great Depression.  Well, it just happened in London, England.  A vice president at JPMorgan’s European headquarters in London plunged to his death after jumping from the top of the 33rd floor.  He fell more than 500 feet, and it is being reported by an eyewitness that “there was quite a lot of blood“.  This comes on the heels of news that a former Deutsche Bank executive was found hanged in his home in London on Sunday.  So why is this happening?  Yes, the markets have gone down a little bit recently but they certainly have not crashed yet.  Could there be more to these deaths than meets the eye?  You never know.  And as I will discuss below, there have been a lot of other really strange things happening around the world lately as well.

So why are bankers killing themselves?

That is a good question.

As I mentioned above, there have also been quite a few other strange things that have happened lately that seem to be “out of place”.

For example, Matt Drudge of the Drudge Report posted the following cryptic message on Twitter the other day…

“Have an exit plan…”

What in the world does he mean by that?

Two top American bankers commit suicide in London

Two top ranking American bankers working in senior positions in London have committed suicide in the space of two days.

Gabriel Magee, a 39-year-old JP Morgan bank executive, died early this morning after he jumped 500ft from the top of the bank’s European headquarters. His body was discovered on the ninth floor roof, which surrounds the 33-story Canary Wharf skyscraper.

Just two days earlier, on Sunday, fellow American banker, William ‘Bill’ Broeksmit, 58, was found hanging in his South Kensington home.
Broeksmit – who retired last February – was a former senior manager at Deutsche Bank and had lived in London many years. He started working for the bank in 1996 but left for a period of 7 years before returning in 2008.

Common Core Town Hall

I wanted to let everyone know about this sooner; but didn’t get confirmation until today that we have the place reserved.

I will be holding a town hall meeting in the auditorium at Jay M. Robinson High School on February 13, 6:15-7:45 PM, for the purpose of hearing from the public about Common Core.

Since the study committee that is studying Common Core is not going to allow any public comment at our Feb. 20 meeting in Raleigh, I wanted to give our local citizens a chance to speak out before then.

I’m sorry for such short notice, and for any potential schedule conflicts; but we have been trying for a few weeks to get this scheduled, and just confirmation today. I especially want to hear from parents, teachers, and administrators, and do not plan to discuss anything else at this particular town hall meeting. Please help me spread the word. Teachers, if you have concerns, and are afraid to speak openly for fear of risking your job, you can come meet me there, and we can arrange to speak privately at a later time. This is not a campaign event. It is just doing my job. I will not have any campaign materials there, and I ask that no one else bring any.

Why We Don’t Yet Live in the “World of Tomorrow”

physics

The following is a quote from a digital currency mailing list, posted at some time in the late 90s or early 2000s:

Consider that up to say 1970, people invented and developed Major Shit left, right and center. Jets, spacecraft, fiber, chips, laser… plastic… satellites… it goes on and on.

In contrast, the world’s done Absolutely Nothing for a good 20 years – at best, refinement. (“TV now has OVER 100 channels! and MORE PIXELS.”)

Indeed we presently live in a time of sort of… fantasy inventions. “Nanotech!” “Robots!” etc — all fantastic on paper, but totally nonexistent.

However flamboyant, this statement is true. Since 1970, there have been very few primary inventions. What we do have are mere improvements.

The Laws of Physics Are Old

Physics has gone almost nowhere since the 1960s. Here’s a short list of developments in physics: Continue reading

US BANKS SHAKEN BY BIGGEST WITHDRAWALS SINCE 9/11

The US Federal Reserve is reporting a major deposit withdrawal from the nation’s bank accounts. The financial system has not seen such a massive fund outflow since 9/11 attacks.

The first week of January 2013 has seen $114 billion withdrawn from 25 of the US’ biggest banks, pushing deposits down to $5.37 trillion, according to the US Fed. Financial analysts suggest it could be down to the Transaction Account Guarantee insurance program coming to an end on December 31 last year and clients moving their money that is no longer insured by the government.

The program was introduced in the wake of the 2008 crisis in order to support the banking system. It provided insurance for around $1.5 trillion in non-interest-bearing accounts with a limit of $250,000. It was aimed at medium and small banks as the creators of the program believed bigger banks would cope with the crisis themselves.

Iran Deal Being Kept in ‘Super Secret Location’

Aerial view of a heavy-water production plant in the central Iranian town of Arak

The full text of the recently inked Iranian nuclear deal is being kept in “a super secret location” shrouded in “a cone of silence,” according to House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC) member Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R., Fla.)

Lawmakers and experts alike criticized the White House for refusing to release publicly the full text of the deal, which temporary halts some of Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for billions of dollars in economic sanctions relief.

Ros-Lehtinen said on Tuesday during a HFAC hearing about the deal that even members of Congress must climb through hoops in order to view the deal.

“Why is it that members of Congress have to go to a super secret location, a cone of silence … to look at the deal?” Ros-Lehtinen asked a panel of nuclear experts.

Ros-Lehtinen described the secret document as “quite eye opening” and wondered why the Obama administration continues to keep it under lock and key.

JPM Sees 28% Withdrawal From Gold Vault In One Day As Another 10 Tons Depart

On Friday, when we remarked on the biggest recorded withdrawal from the JPM gold vault, we said: “Something tells us the next few days will see matching withdrawals from JPM’s gold vault, which at last check was officially owned by the Chinese.” As it turns out we were absolutely correct: according to the just released update from Comex, on Monday the infamous gold vault located below 1 C(hina)MP saw an identical withdrawal of 321,500 ounces, matching the record withdrawal, and amounting to 28% of all JPM gold in storage. Adding to Friday’s drop, this means that a record 47% of JPM’s gold has been withdrawan in a few short days: a trend we are certain will continue until the total holdings of the vault drop to new record lows.

Bill Gertz: Pentagon Concerned by China’s New High-Speed Missile

hypersonic

Hypersonic strike vehicle test is high-tech arms breakthrough that will be difficult for missile defenses to counter.

China’s recent test of a new ultra-high speed strike vehicle highlights growing concerns that Chinese military advances will overtake those of the United States in as few as five years, a senior Pentagon official told Congress Tuesday.

Frank Kendall, undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology, and logistics, said during a House Armed Services Committee hearing that he is concerned by large-scale cuts in U.S. defense spending that are undermining efforts to maintain U.S. military superiority.

“On hypersonics, this is a good example of an area of technology that is going to move forward whether we invest in it or not,” Kendall told a hearing on the United States shift toward Asia. “China is doing work in this area.”

The Pentagon is investing some resources in two forms of hypersonic arms: a ballistic missile boost glide vehicle and a jet powered, atmospheric cruise missile, he said.
