ANOTHER TOWN DEBATES A GUN BAN

Help Clemmons Help Itself!

Like other municipalities, the Clemmons Village Council is preparing to update its firearms ordinances to comply with recent changes to state law. Currently, Clemmons bans firearms from the Village Hall and property. However, as the ordinances are updated, there is hope for this to change. Clemmons is teetering on the edge of proper recognition of gun freedom, and you can help nudge them toward the side of reason. See the “Immediate Action Required” section, below, to learn how you can help.

On Monday January 27th the Council will vote one of two ways:

  1. Anti-gun: In order to be in compliance with state law, they will vote to narrow the areas where guns are banned, but where state law gives them wiggle room, they will tediously outline specific areas where they can still force gun control onto the law-abiding voters.
  2. Pro-freedom: The Council will vote to eliminate the gun ban entirely. Naturally, complete removal of the prohibition is the simplest, safest and most reasonable approach. This would appropriately recognize the human rights outlined in the Federal and North Carolina Constitutions, and provide village leadership an opportunity to demonstrate respect for the people they serve.

Fortunately, GRNC member Bill Lawry is on the Village Council, and for the following reasons, he favors eliminating the gun ban entirely.  Continue reading →

Indian village ‘court’ orders gang rape of woman as punishment for boyfriend

Suspects in the gang-rape case are led by police to a district courthouse in Birdhum district Thursday.

Village elders in India ordered the gang rape of a 20-year-old woman after they found out she was in a relationship with a man from a different community, police said Thursday.

Police in a rural part of West Bengal arrested 13 people in connection with the alleged offense that left the woman in critical condition in the hospital, police told the BBC.

“The relationship was going on for almost five years,” Birbhum police chief C. Sudhakar said. “When the man visited the woman’s home on Monday with the proposal of marriage, villagers spotted him and organized a kangaroo court.

“During the ‘proceedings,’ the couple were made to sit with hands tied.”

Sudhakar told the BBC that the elders took action because the woman was from their tribal community and her boyfriend was from a non-tribal community nearby.

Following John McCain’s recent trip to Kiev practicing his new brand of international racketeering by threatening the Ukraine if they did not join the EU, it seems that the real Ukrainians have finally figured out that the pro-EU mobs have been staged by a conclave of western NGO’s and ‘democracy foundations’ – the very same nest of hornets who brought on the fabled ‘Arab Spring’ to the Middle East three years ago.

The main goal for Washington and the City of London is to separate Kiev from Moscow, and thus weaken Russia’s hand in Eurasia.

For EU central bankers, the prospect of raping and privatising the Urkraine economy-  is also a big incentive.

It looks like the old tricks are no longer working. At last, the ‘colour revolution’ jig may finally be up…

JPMorgan’s Gold Vault Has Biggest One-Day Withdrawal Ever

Curious why over the past few months JPM has quietly been accumulating a substantial amount of eligible physical gold (even as its registered gold inventory is the lowest it has ever been at just 87K ounces since December 13, 2013 when 147K ounces of gold was withdrawn – keep that date in mind for a few minutes)? This may have something to do with it: moments ago the daily Comex gold vault report confirmed what many expected, namely that the JPM accumulation was merely in advance anticipation of major withdrawals. How major? Well, on January 23, JPM saw 321,500 ounces of gold depart in one day. This was tied for the single biggest daily withdrawal in history! The last time JPM had an identically sized withdrawal? December 13…. 2012.

Wayne County sheriff suffers fatal heart attack

Carey A. Winders, longtime sheriff for Wayne County, died after suffering an apparent heart attack early Friday, officials said. He was 57.

Winders was first elected sheriff in 1994, becoming the first Republican to hold the post.

County officials said Winders is believed to have had a “massive heart attack” while at home. He was treated by county emergency workers and taken to Wayne Memorial Hopsital, where he was pronounced dead.

“With heavy hearts, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is announcing that Sheriff Carey A. Winders passed away this morning,” officials said in a statement. “Please keep Sheriff Winders’ family and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in your prayers.”

Bombings rock Egyptian capital

CAIRO: Three bombings hit high-profile areas around Cairo on Friday, including a suicide car bomber who struck the city’s police headquarters, killing five people in the first major attack on the Egyptian capital as insurgents step up a campaign of violence following the ouster of president Muhammad Mursi.

Nobody claimed responsibility for the attacks, but they bore the hallmarks of extremists who have increasingly targeted police and the military since the July 3 coup against Mursi and a fierce crackdown on his supporters led by the Muslim Brotherhood.

The explosions struck as the country was on high alert ahead of the third anniversary of the Jan. 25 start of the 2011 uprising that toppled autocratic leader Hosni Mubarak. Mursi’s supporters had vowed to use the event to gain momentum in their efforts turn to a new momentum to “break the coup.”

Friday’s violence began when a suicide bomber rammed a car into cement blocks surrounding the main Egyptian police headquarters in the heart of Cairo, killing at least four people and sending billows of black smoke into the sky. The blast also tore through nearby buildings, including the renowned Museum of Islamic Art.

Emerging market sell-off spills over to Europe, U.S.

A global flight from emerging market assets gathered pace on Friday, sending the Turkish lira to a record low and setting global shares on course for their worst week this year.

European shares fell, especially in firms exposed to emerging markets, and a sell-off on Wall Street was poised to extend into a second day as investors worried about the impact of slower growth in China, U.S. monetary policy and political problems in Turkey, Argentina and Ukraine.

The sell-off raised the prospect of a repeat of moves last June when developing country stocks fell almost 18 percent and hit global shares. This came after the U.S. Federal Reserve signaled its intention to scale back the bond-buying stimulus that had led investors to chase higher returns in emerging market assets.

“We expect the emerging market sell-off to get worse before it starts getting better,” said Lorne Baring, managing director of B Capital Wealth Management in Geneva.
