Misery Index: Half of the Industrialized World’s Unemployed are in America

RUSH:   “Target Corp. announced on Tuesday it would no longer offer healthcare coverage to its part-time employees.  In a blog post on the company’s website, Jodee Kozlak, the executive vice president of human resources, framed it as a positive development for part-time employees of the company. ‘The Health Insurance Marketplaces provides new options for healthcare coverage that we believe our part-time members may prefer,’ she wrote. ‘In fact, by offering them insurance, we could actually disqualify many of them from being eligible for newly available subsidies that could reduce their overall health insurance expense.'”

So Target is coming along, and they’re just eliminating health insurance for part-timers on the basis that they’re doing something good for them.  Now, I, on the other hand, folks, I’ve got an AP story here today that tells me that Target must be lying about this, because the AP story is all about how Obamacare will affect employers, and the AP story says several times that it will not cause anybody to have their hours cut or lose their jobs.  There is an AP story today reporting that.  Nobody will have their hours cut.  Well, what about those who already have?  And nobody will lose their health insurance or their jobs because of Obamacare.

Let me give you a for-instance from the article.

U.S. Cattle Herd Is At A 61 Year Low And Organic Food Shortages Are Being Reported All Over America

Drought 2014

If the extreme drought in the western half of the country keeps going, the food supply problems that we are experiencing right now are only going to be the tip of the iceberg.  As you will see below, the size of the U.S. cattle herd has dropped to a 61 year low, and organic food shortages are being reported all over the nation.  Surprisingly cold weather and increasing demand for organic food have both been a factor, but the biggest threat to the U.S. food supply is the extraordinary drought which has had a relentless grip on the western half of the country.  If you check out the U.S. Drought Monitor, you can see that drought conditions currently stretch from California all the way to the heart of Texas.  In fact, the worst drought in the history of the state of California is happening right now.  And considering the fact that the rest of the nation is extremely dependent on produce grown in California and cattle raised in the western half of the U.S., this should be of great concern to all of us.

Harris farms has released a statement saying they will leave about 40,000 acres fallow this year because the FEDS have decided to only deliver 10% of the water allocation for 2014. Lettuce is predicted to reach around $5.00 a head (if you can find it). Understand the farmers in the Salinas valley are considering the same action. So much for salad this summer unless you grow it yourself.

1.4 Million Jobless Officially Get The Emergency Claims Axe

Initial claims rose very marginally week over week (with the declining trend of early 2013 now over); continung claims rose more – considerably more than expectations – with its biggest 7-week rise since early 2009 to the highest in 6 months; but the major news is the drop in Emergency Unemployment Compensation beneficiaries from 1.37 million to (drum roll please) zero! Congress decision not to extend this beenfit means there are 2 million fewer people on benefits than a year ago. The 1.4 million drop also means the number of people NOT in the labor force is about to rise by the same amount, which as we explained before, means the US unemployment rate is about to drop by up to 0.8%, which means the January unemployment rate could be as low as 5.9%.

You Cannot Legislate Freedom

See additional comments on Tea Party Nation.

The world’s leaders have been very successful in attaining their goal to equate freedom with Democracy. Freedom can only be earned and kept by a moral people. As an example, Castro’s freedom fighters were misled and their revolution only gave them repression. This is one of many examples where people will fight for freedom without the moral conviction and Sacred honor to implement it. Or in our case, keep it.

The majority of people in our divided country do not even know that we have been given a Republic. And we need to pay special attention to Franklin’s words of “given a Republic” after the Constitution was drafted. Our founding fathers gave us the gift of Liberty that the patriots fought for but more importantly, they believed in. They did not give us a democracy because they understood the definition of Democracy:

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!

Benjamin Franklin

The two wolves are our two entrenched political parties who have feasted on the bones of Liberty and enslaved us with debt. And our posterity: our children and grandchildren have been sold into slavery with a debt that can never be repaid.

Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself.

John Adams

Our Republic has been turned into a Democracy for a specific purpose and it is not freedom. It would be easy to state that the Democrat party is responsible for this transformation but both parties and apathetic people are responsible. We now know that our political class has wasted the fruits of our labor, exhausted our economy and murdered the Constitution. So where does that leave our freedom?

Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand.

John Adams

If we were a religious and moral society, we would not be having this discussion. And discussion, not mandates or speeches, must be the beginning of the rebuilding of our society. Look again to history, strongmen as outlined in “The Road to Serfdom” always have the supposed answer to save the country. But this road always ends in the loss of freedom and in the case of the 20th century, genocide. I believe that Mr. Franklin’s words were prescient: a well-armed lamb is our defense against “democracy”. Which is why our 2nd amendment rights have been under attack since the infamous United States v. Miller decision. Continue reading

Some NC state employees getting raises

Gov. Pat McCrory

RALEIGH, N.C. — Although Gov. Pat McCrory focused on teacher raises during a Tuesday news conference to outline his 2014 agenda, some other state employees have already gotten a bump in pay.

McCrory said Wednesday that the Office of State Human Resources has implemented pay raises authorized by the General Assembly for employees in high-demand professions, such as medicine, accounting, auditing and information technology, with the goal of reducing turnover.

The 3,221 state employees will get an average 4.2 percent salary increase. About 1,200 nurses and 600 law enforcement employees will receive increases up to 4 percent, while others will receive increases of up to 10 percent.

SilverFire Super Dragon: Gasification is Back!

From YouTube:

This video shows how amazingly easy it is to control the output of a SuperDragon over a long period of time. The goal to can for 90 minutes at 15PSI was easily accomplished. With the stove only filled 2/3 of the way and it ran for 2 hours! I only adjusted the fan speed a few times. Impressed!

The Magnitude of Their Power

christian mercenary

by T.L. Davis

The Marxist obsession with death is striking. There is a blood lust to it. When they describe it, it is always as some form of ultimate good. Whether in the form of euthanasia, or abortion, or Obamacare death panels, they are always getting rid of those that don’t fit into their humanistic, Godless society.

It is social planning that ultimately puts the figurative gun to the head of millions of citizens. We have all seen the pictures of the holocaust. The Jews were “wrecking” the ability of Germany to economically recover from World War I. The political opponents of Stalin were “wrecking” the benefits of communism by failing to produce enough for the people. Obamacare will eventually find that old people “selfishly” requiring too many services and not contributing to the treasury will be “wrecking” the health care system. Marxism always comes with an enemy, even when those enemies are as inoffensive as unborn children, the mentally handicapped or the elderly.

The underlying sense of it all is that being human is subjective with bureaucrats making the distinction. The most important aspect of Marxism is the bureaucracy for this very reason. There are accounts of the average Russian believing that if “Stalin knew what was going on, he would be furious and put a stop to it.” Stalin depended on the bureaucracy to protect his narcissistic image. Sound familiar?

Natural Gas Could Soon Reach $5

(Marketwatch)  Natural-gas futures jumped on Wednesday, set for their highest close since June 2011, and prices may still have quite a rally ahead.  February natural gas NGG14 +6.55%was last at $4.68 per million British thermal units, up 24.5 cents, or 5.5%, on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It was set for  highest settlement in about 2 and a half years, FactSet data, tracking the most-active contracts, show.

“With tight fundamentals, $5 gas is not impossible,” analysts at Citi said in a note Wednesday. Natural-gas futures haven’t closed at $5 or above since mid-2010.  Strong demand is expected to push gas inventories to very low levels with cold weather lingering, the Citi analysts said, adding that the end of March level is expected to fall to 1.256 trillion cubic feet. As of the week ended Jan. 10, they stood at 2.530 trillion cubic feet, down 443 billion cubic feet from the five-year average, according to data from the Energy Information Administration.

The EIA will issue its latest weekly data on Thursday morning. Analysts surveyed by Platts forecast a decline of between 102 billion cubic feet and 106 billion for the week ended Jan. 17.

Statement by the President on Roe v. Wade Anniversary

Today, as we reflect on the 41st anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, we recommit ourselves to the decision’s guiding principle: that every woman should be able to make her own choices about her body and her health.  We reaffirm our steadfast commitment to protecting a woman’s access to safe, affordable health care and her constitutional right to privacy, including the right to reproductive freedom.  And we resolve to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, support maternal and child health, and continue to build safe and healthy communities for all our children.  Because this is a country where everyone deserves the same freedom and opportunities to fulfill their dreams.

Don’t Be Fooled by the “Value” of the Stock Market

d1

The stock market graph above shows a doubling of the NYSE under the Obama administration. Accounting for inflation, the value of the market should be 8306 instead of 16,344. Also note the dramatic decline in the volume of stocks traded at the elite have abandoned this house of cards.

I suppose adding $7 trillion to the national debt, reducing the labor force to a thirty-five year low, and complete submission to the banking industry will do that. What will you do when the shelves are bare?

Venezuela About To Run Out Of Food Despite Fresh All Time High In Its Stock Market

Bloomberg reports that Empresas Polar SA, Venezuela’s largest privately-held company, said in an e-mailed statement that foreign suppliers of food, packaging, and equipment have closed credit lines because of the government’s delays in giving the company dollars at official rate. Empresas added that dollar delays are now the longest since the introduction of currency controls in Feb. 2003.

In other words, with the country doing everything in its power to allocate dollars “fairly” (while making sure nobody has profit margins higher than 30%), very soon the biggest distributors of staples are about to run empty.

Oh well, at least they have their stock market and the “wealth effect”…
