Wall Street Should Be Prepared – And So Should You

In an interview with CNBC’s John Harwood, Obama once again shows why the polarization in Congress is at record levels. In a brief: he said he is “exasperated”, and that the shutdown is “entirely unnecessary” but adds that he is (finally?) prepared to negotiate, however only after he gets his way namely after the government is reopened. And another important talking point: Obama added that while gridlock in D.C. is nothing new, “this time I think Wall Street should be concerned.” It is unclear how that statement makes any sense in light of Obama’s right hand senator Chuck Schumer telling the man who is really in charge, Ben Bernanke, to get to work. Unless of course, Obama is now angling for a “concerning” market crash, which sends the Dow down by 20% like in the summer of 2011, and Obama can tell the stunned public “I told you so.”

The market closed down 58.56 today on low volume of 86,093,667 shares. 32% of the volume was done in the last five minutes of the trading session. Associates of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Wednesday, Oct. 2, leaked word to the media that high-ranking Gulf emirate officials had recently visited Israel, signaling a further widening in the rift between Israel and President Barack Obama over his outreach to Tehran. These visits were in line with the ongoing exchanges Israel was holding with Saudi and Gulf representatives to align their actions for offsetting any potential American easing-up on Iran’s nuclear program.

DEBKAfile reports that this is the first time Israel official sources have publicly aired diplomatic contacts of this kind in the region. They also reveal that Israel, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf emirates have agreed to synchronize their lobbying efforts in the US Congress to vote down the Obama administration’s moves on Iran.

After Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with President Barack Obama at the White House Monday, Sept. 30, Secretary of State John Kerry carried a message requesting moderation in the speech he was to deliver next day to the United Nations.

On the other hand, at least two European diplomats, German and French, made the opposite request: they asked for a hard-hitting Israeli peroration for setting boundaries – not so much for Iran’s nuclear program as for attempt to slow down President Obama’s dash for détente with Tehran.

BitCoin Plunges Following US Government Seizure Of Silk Road Website

arlier today, one of the most popular websites that use and promote the use of BitCoin, Silk Road, was shut down by the US government. As Reuters reports, U.S. law enforcement authorities raided an Internet site that served as a marketplace for illegal drugs, including heroin and cocaine, and arrested its owner, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said on Wednesday. The FBI arrested Ross William Ulbricht, known as “Dread Pirate Roberts,” in San Francisco on Tuesday, according to court filings. Federal prosecutors charged Ulbricht with one count each of narcotics trafficking conspiracy, computer hacking conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy, according to a court filing. Anyone visiting the site would be greeted with the following “game over” screen.

It’s Official: US Post Office Defaults on $5.6B

usps(CNN)  The U.S. Postal Service has defaulted on a $5.6 billion payment for retiree health benefits that was due on Monday, just as the Postmaster General had warned it would.

Now the only question is which departments/agencies will come next?

amtrak-crashI’m guessing that Amtrak will be the next to default, as they have “pension burdens” similar to the Postal Service.

REMEMBER – the goal here is to create ’cause’ for nationalizing all retirement savings… they want your 401k and other long-term investments under their control.  They have already seized the healthcare system, which is 1/6th of the entire US GDP, but they want it all.

CHINA: 22 tons of pig meat sold as halal to Muslims

In Shaanxi Province, Chinese police have discovered 22 tons of pork that was sold as certified halal (Islam-approved) beef. Muslims are forbidden from eating pork. This case, once again, demonstrates the lack of seriousness of the halal industry in Asia.

Reids Office Leaks Boehner Emails

 series of leaked emails from House Speaker John Boehner’s chief of staff Mike Sommers shows Boehner may have coordinated with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to exempt Congress from Obamacare.

The emails were leaked Tuesday by Reid chief of staff David Krone, who actually has a history of this sort of thing.

The leaks, which are a major taboo in Washington, show Boehner (R-Ohio) worked behind the scenes earlier this year to address confusion over a provision in the Affordable Care Act that would force members of Congress and their aides into the exchanges. In fact, if one were to go by the leaks, which were first published by Politico, it appears that the offices of Boehner and Reid regularly coordinated to exempt Congress from the health care law.

But given that Boehner is now apparently against congressional Obamacare exemptions, the emails make him look inconsistent and hypocritical – which may have been the point of their leaking.

Latest House CR Funds and Permits Obamacare’s Attack on Free Exercise of Catholicism

John BoehnerThe last version of the continuing resolution that House Speaker John Boehner (R.-Ohio) pushed through the Republican-controlled House of Representatives on Monday—and that the Democrat-controlled Senate summarily rejected—surrendered a position that House Republicans had taken in the previous CR that protected Americans from being forced by an Obamacare regulation to act against their moral or religious convictions.

The Obamacare regulation in question effectively prohibits American Catholics from freely practicing their faith in the way they live their daily lives.

Indeed, the Catholic bishops of the United States have unanimously declared this regulation an “unjust and illegal mandate” and “a violation of personal civil rights.”

Many of the nation’s Catholic bishops have also publicly declared in writing that they “will not obey it.”

USW’s Gerard to serve on U.S. mfg. committee

President Barack Obama appointed United Steelworkers International (USW) President Leo Gerard and 18 others recently to the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership Steering Committee 2.0.

The group’s task is to build on the work of the previous committee, which last year issued a report calling for investments through public-private partnerships in a series of innovation hubs throughout the country.
