Meet PRISM / US-984XN – The US Government’s Internet Espionage Super Operation

The disclosures involving this (and the prior) administration’s Big Brother surveillance state, which would make Nixon blush with envy are now coming fast and furious (one wonders – why now: even that bastion of liberalism the NY Times, has turned against Obama). Although while the Guardian’s overnight news that Verizon (and most certainly AT&T as well among others) was cooperating with the NSA on spying on US citizens, so far at least the internet seemed, if only to the great unwashed masses, immune. That is no longer the case following news from the WaPo exposing PRISM, a highly classified program, which has not been disclosed publicly before. “Its establishment in 2007 and six years of exponential growth took place beneath the surface of a roiling debate over the boundaries of surveillance and privacy.” What PRISM does is to allow the NSA and the FBI to tap directly “into the central servers of nine leading U.S. Internet companies, extracting audio, video, photographs, e-mails, documents and connection logs that enable analysts to track a person’s movements and contacts over time.”

The secrecy is so deep we expect even the president himself may not know about it (but he does):

The highly classified program, code-named PRISM, has not been disclosed publicly before. Its establishment in 2007 and six years of exponential growth took place beneath the surface of a roiling debate over the boundaries of surveillance and privacy.  Even late last year, when critics of the foreign intelligence statute argued for changes, the only members of Congress who know about PRISM were bound by oaths of office to hold their tongues.

IRS Reviewing 64,600,000 Pages of Documents for Info ‘Potentially Relevant’ to Tea Party Targeting

Daniel Werfel

Daniel Werfel

In a belated and incomplete response to the House Ways and Means Committee’s request for Internal Revenue Service documents relating to the agency’s targeting of Tea Party and conservative groups for heightened scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status, Acting IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel has informed the committee that the agency is in the process of reviewing approximately 64,600,000 pages of documents from IRS officials “who may have potentially relevant information” about the targeting.

Werfel also suggested to the committee that he believes the ultimate answers to who knew what and when in the White House and the Treasury Department about the IRS’s targeting of Tea Party and conservative groups will be discovered by the Treasury Department inspector general for tax administration and Attorney General Eric Holder’s Justice Department, which are conducting the administration’s internal investigations of this matter.

On May 14, House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp (R.-Mich.) and Ranking Member Sander Levin (D.-Mich.) sent the IRS a letter asking thirteen questions about the agency’s targeting of Tea Party and conservative groups. These questions included requests for “all documents and communications” on the matter between the IRS and the Treasury and between the IRS and the White House.

Liberty County Sheriff Arrested by Gov. Rick Scott for Defending Second Amendment

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wb6KCG0vxF8#t=19s

Analysis from Kris Anne Hall

From YouTube:

http://www.libertyfederation.com – This week Liberty County Florida Sheriff, Nick Finch was arrested by Governor Rick Scott for standing in defense of the Constitution and honoring his oath of office. Sheriff Finch believes the Second Amendment means what it says, our Right to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. What Sheriff Finch did was well within his authority and in full compliance with the rules and regulations for records retention and destruction. What Sheriff Finch did was stand in the gap where the government is trying to erode your Liberty.

Sheriff Finch made the decision to not pursue a charge against Floyd Parish; well within the authority of the Sheriff to do. Upon making that decision, Sheriff Finch removed Parish’s file from the records and removed his name from the jail log. Well within his authority; The General Records Schedule for Law Enforcement, Correctional Facilities, and District Medical Examiners outlines this authority.

House votes to limit Homeland Security’s gun ammunition buys

Lawmakers voted late Wednesday for limits on the amount of ammunition that can be purchased by the Department of Homeland Security.

The measure — a proposal to amend the DHS spending bill — came by way of Republican Rep. Mark Meadows and passed 234-192, The Associated Press reported. The amendment prohibits taxpayer dollars from being sent to DHS for ammunition buys unless the agency first sends a report to Congress detailing its previous like purchases.

India Central Bank Prohibits Sales Of Gold Coins

Two weeks ago, with its current account getting crushed by relentless gold imports, India’s finance minister Chidambaram literally begged the people to stop buying gold. Judging by the popular response, the ongoing physical shortage, and last night’s increase in Indian gold import duties from 6% to 8%, appealing to people’s feeling when it comes to the choice of fiat vs physical, has failed miserably. So the FinMin Chidambaram has decided to escalate.  Per Reuters: “The Reserve Bank of India has advised banks against selling gold coins to retail customers, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said on Thursday, a day after he raised gold import duty to try to ease pressure on India’s bloated current account deficit.” Well, if there ever was one sure way to send demand for any product through the roof (guns, ammo, etc), it is for the government to prohibit its outright sale. What follows next, almost without fail, is a panicked, chaotic buying scramble.

Gold imports by India, the world’s biggest buyer of bullion, surged to 162 tonnes in May — more than twice the monthly average in the record year of 2011.

“I think the Reserve Bank has advised banks that they should not sell gold coins,” said Chidambaram, while speaking at an event in Mumbai.

Chidambaram also urged banks to advise their customers not to invest in gold.

Why? If it is not clear by now, here is the explanation: there is simply not enough gold to satisfy demand at the current artificially downward-manipulated price, no matter what propaganda script is being spun on Verizon TV at any given moment. And with India’s idiotic decree, even more gold will be purchased at these prices.

Consider your promise to NC voters

Dear NC Legislators-

I am asking you as a NC citizen to decide if co-sponsoring H786 Reclaim NC Act complies with your promise to:

1)  Uphold the Constitution and rule of law

2)  Create jobs for NC’s unemployed

3)  Not to cater to special interests’

Section 8 guts the current e-verify law by:

1) exempting employers from the requirement of e-verifying a potential employee if the employee has a NC issued drivers’ permit or ID card;

2) exempting employers from prosecution if the hire an illegal alien with a NC issued drivers’ permit or ID card and

3) it redefines a seasonal employee as anyone who works less than one year (instead of 90 days)

Section 9 allows for NC to issue licenses to almost all illegal aliens in the state. New Mexico has done it and now wishes they hadn’t as indicated by the following quote from one of the articles below: “A driver’s license is a privilege of tremendous value to the millions of undocumented immigrants nationwide. But that rare privilege has undeniably brought trouble to New Mexico.”

Some of those problems include: Continue reading
