Chinese Gold Imports Soar To Monthly Record On Insatiable Demand

In what must be an inexplicable move to momentum-chasers everywhere, as gold continued to decline in price in March, and long before its targeted smash in April, China was not backing off its gold purchases of the yellow product. Quite the contrary: as export data released by the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department overnight showed, Chinese gold imports in March exploded to an all time record high of 223.5 tons. This follows 97.1 tons in February, and brings the total imports for the first quarter of 2013, or 372 tons, on par with what China imported in the entire first half. It also means that since January 2012, China has imported an absolutely stunning 1,206 tons of gold. Putting this number in context, this is 20% more than the entire reporter official gold holdings of 1054 tons, and represents roughly half of the total 2500 tons of gold mined every year (a number which is set to decline as gold miners find current prices unsustainable and are forced to shut down production).

KANSAS SECRETARY OF STATE READS ERIC HOLDER’S THREAT, RESPONDS WITH VERBAL BODY SLAM

holder

From Liberty News

h/t Frank L

Yesterday we reported on Eric Holder’s threatening letter to Kansas Governor Sam Brownback. The letter came as a response to the passage of SB 102. Holder is telling Kansas the bill is unconstitutional. Here’s a summary of the bill.

SB 102 establishes the Second Amendment Protection Act.

First, the bill excludes from federal regulation any personal firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition manufactured commercially or privately and owned in Kansas. The bill provides that for as long as any such personal firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition remains within the borders of Kansas, it is not subject to any federal law, regulation, or authority.

Second, the bill prevents any federal agent or contracted employee, any state employee, or any local authority from enforcing any federal regulation or law governing any personal firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition manufactured commercially or privately and owned in Kansas, provided it remains within the borders of Kansas. In the process of a criminal prosecution, the bill precludes any arrest or detention prior to a trial for a violation of the Act.

Finally, the bill allows a county or district attorney or the Attorney General to seek injunctive relief in court to enjoin certain federal officials from enforcing federal law regarding a firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition that is manufactured commercially or privately and owned in the state of Kansas and that remains within the borders of Kansas.

GRNC Alert 5-7-13: House Republicans Stand Firm for Gun Owners

Standing Firm

In recent months, GRNC has spent plenty of time beating on Republican leaders for failing to “dance with the ones that brought them,” namely failure to move gun legislation after gun owners came out strong in the 2012 elections.

Perhaps that message got through: On Monday and Tuesday, Republicans stood firm in defending House Bill 937, “Amend Various Gun Laws,” against an onslaught of anti-gun amendments proposed by Reps. Darren Jackson (D-Wake, GRNC 0-star), Paul Leubke (D-Durham, 0-star), Verla Insko (D-Orange, 0-star), Pricey Harrison (D-Guilford, 0-star) and others. Thanks are due in particular to Speaker Thom Tillis (R-Mecklenburg, ****) and Rules Chair Tim Moore (R-Cleveland, ****).

As weakening amendment after weakening amendment was introduced, Rep. Tim (“The Hammer”) Moore and Rep. Justin Burr(R-Montgomery, Stanly, ****) shot them down with motions “lay the amendments on the table.” But for their efforts, North Carolina gun owners could have been saddled not only with weakening amendments to the original bill, but also to exactly the sort of universal gun registration and standard capacity magazine bans you just defeated at a federal level.

Rep. “Yellow Star” Jackson, who previously tried to brand gun owners by their drivers’ licenses much as Nazi’s put Yellow Stars on those bound for concentration camps, was particularly relentless, earning GRNC-PVF’s special attention in future elections.

European Commission to criminalize nearly all seeds and plants not registered with government

seeds

A new law proposed by the European Commission would make it illegal to “grow, reproduce or trade” any vegetable seeds that have not been “tested, approved and accepted” by a new EU bureaucracy named the “EU Plant Variety Agency.”

It’s called the Plant Reproductive Material Law, and it attempts to put the government in charge of virtually all plants and seeds. Home gardeners who grow their own plants from non-regulated seeds would be considered criminals under this law.

The draft text of the law, which has already been amended several times due to a huge backlash from gardeners, is viewable here.

“This law will immediately stop the professional development of vegetable varieties for home gardeners, organic growers, and small-scale market farmers,” said Ben Gabel, vegetable breeder and director of The Real Seed Catalogue. “Home gardeners have really different needs – for example they grow by hand, not machine, and can’t or don’t want to use such powerful chemical sprays. There’s no way to register the varieties suitable for home use as they don’t meet the strict criteria of the Plant Variety Agency, which is only concerned about approving the sort of seed used by industrial farmers.”

Virtually all plants, vegetable seeds and gardeners to eventually be registered by government

Checkmate: From global makeover to takeover

We’re rapidly approaching a potential checkmate moment in the Mideast. There are 41 nations plus the U.S., for a total of 42 nations currently participating in military maneuvers off the coast of Iran. Despite all of the saber rattling about Iran, we are being deceived about the coming global battle, which will almost certainly begin in Syria, not Iran.

What we are seeing is both deadly serious and under-appreciated by most Westerners, who have grown weary of wars and rumors of wars in the Mideast long ago. Exhaustion aside, the events continue to march forward, the consolidation of forces and interests are forming until that final moment when we will have a single group of tyrannical global controllers left standing. A checkmate moment, where the aspirations of the globalists will have succeeded in a plan of global domination, consolidation of power, energy and wealth, all obtained from the blood and bodies of our family members fighting a war without our consent.

A Prelude to War?

Syria has cut off all Internet access today (May 7, 2013). The most logical conclusion is that Syria is about to launch an offensive (internally against al Qaeda/Muslim Brotherhood “rebels” or externally against Israel). If this is the case, it will be interesting to see which other countries will also go “dark” if this is an external offensive.

Syria Traffic Goes “Dark” As Country Disappears From Internet

While there have been no new military attacks on Syria since Sunday morning, something more peculiar happened in the past few hours, when according to Akamai and various other Internet traffic trackers, Syria has literally gone “dark“, or, as Umbrella Security Labs describes it, as if “Syria has largely disappeared from the Internet.”

Class Maledictorian: Obama Tells Graduates Not to Worry About Government Tyranny

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxScwoRLVSs

From YouTube:

President Obama told graduates to reject voices that warn about government tyranny. Was this another of his “off-the-cuff” remarks, or does President Obama have something more sinister planned for the nation?

GRNC Alert 5-7-13: HB 937, STOP THE RIDDELL AMENDMENT

Stop the Riddell Amendment: NO CHANGES TO SECTION 12 OF HB 937

Everybody: Get it out on forums and start calling your House reps. Tell them to oppose the Riddell amendment for HB 937 . He wants a 7 year bar on anybody who gets their rights restored, after previously having been adjudicated incompetent, before getting a concealed carry handgun permit. GRNC might buy into 1 year, but anybody who goes to the lengths (and the evaluations) necessary for restoration of gun rights should be sufficiently vetted for a permit. So deliver the message: No changes to Section 12 of the bill.

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED!

A Libyan follower of Ansar al-Sharia Brigades carries a sign during a protest in front of the Tibesti Hotel, in Benghazi / AP

The Ansar al Sharia Brigade, the Islamist terror group linked to the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, continues to operate freely in that Libyan city, according to U.S. military officials.

The group remains active in the Mediterranean port city, operating patrols and checkpoints, and earlier this year reached an agreement with other Islamist groups allowing it to operate openly, said military officials familiar with intelligence reports from North Africa.

The group “continues to spread its ideology in the Benghazi area, particularly targeting youth,” said one official, who noted that the lack of central government security was the key reason the militia has not been suppressed.

The officials disclosed details of the group’s activities on condition of anonymity.

Ansar al Sharia also is using Facebook to publicize its activities, including charitable work in poor areas, and is constructing some buildings. It also claimed to be operating a medical clinic in Benghazi. Other activities include repairing schools and holding conferences for local youth.

According to the officials, the group successfully exploited the weakness of security authorities in Benghazi and Libya in general to boost its presence. The group is attempting to reinvent itself as a humanitarian and charitable organization after the Sept. 11 attack.

THE TRUTH ABOUT BENGHAZI CONTINUES TO TRICKLE OUT SLOWLY

On September 11, 2012, the U.S. embassy in Benghazi was attacked by Islamic radicals and three Americans lost their lives, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens. At the time, the administration blamed it on an American-made YouTube video and Glenn was quick to call the attack a planned and coordinated assault. Now, the truth is starting to come to light and it’s clear that Glenn and TheBlaze were correct in their reporting, despite being called conspiracy theorists at the time.
