Did Obama Withhold Cross-Border Authority?

Please help me.

I am trying as hard as I can to get out the word about cross-border authority (CBA).

I just can’t believe reporters don’t know enough to ask the right questions! It’s infuriating.

Libya, as far as standing down the rescue, is 100% Obama’s show, and nobody else’s. Only he can grant CBA, not Biden, not Panetta, not Dempsey, not Hillary, and certainly not Ham in Germany.

The entire episode is explained perfectly inside the context of not granting CBA. The CIA QRF in Tripoli? No problem, send them on the local Tripoli station chief’s say-so. He merely informs up COC that he has done so. CCs them so to speak. “This is what I am doing.” Ditto if Predators were in country, no problem using them.

But the big rescue air armada streaming toward Libya right away after the alarm got to Stuttgart and Africom? That has to stop. I believe at the 5pm meeting with Panetta and Biden in the Oval Office, he said, “No outside military intervention,” on the basis that the last report was the “lull” from the consulate, at about 1030 p.m. in Benghazi, when the attack appeared to be over and the situation stabilizing.

(As a soft exception, Obama may have authorized sending an unarmed Predator from outside of Libya, but I am thinking the two Predators were already in-country, and hence available to use within “no CBA granted” rules.)

However, the report theorizes that presidential emergency power could be used to delay an election — specifically, if “attacks, disruptions and destruction are so severe and so dangerous in certain localities, particularly in crowded urban areas, that the President under a rule of necessity may look to protect the public safety by federalizing State national guard and restricting movement and activities in such areas which would obviously affect the ability to conduct an election at those sites.”Congress could also theoretically step in and pass a law or give that power to the president, the report says. Courts have typically left it up to Congress to set election procedures.

Syria on a cliff edge between Assad and Al Qaeda

The collapse of the Eid al Adha truce brokered by UN envoy Lakhdar Brahimi left Syria careening into unknown territory.

The powers which castigate Bashar Assad for butchering his people refuse to abandon their hands-off policy for clipping his wings. On this point, there is little difference between US President Barack Obama and his Republican rival Mitt Romney, except that the latter says Syrian rebels ought to be given heavy arms for defense against Assad’s army, tanks and air force.

Even America’s allies in the region are being held back from direct military confrontation with the Assad regime. Turkey was on the verge of expanding its border clashes with Syria into active backing for the rebels with a view to carving out a buffer strip, a safe haven and a no-fly zone on and over Syrian soil. But then, last week Obama sent the Gen. Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint US Chiefs, to Ankara to hold Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan back from any cross-border action. He was followed by his deputy.

Assad, the Syrian rebels – and al Qaeda too – sense that the country is now up for grabs. This realization is shared by their various sponsors, including Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan and the Emir of Qatar.
The Syrian ruler therefore feels he is sitting pretty with no one around who is willing or able to stop the indiscriminate air bombardment of urban areas which he began to intensify in the last week.

President Barack Obama said in an interview that if the investigation into the Sept. 11 attack on the American compound in Libya finds that “there was a big breakdown, and somebody didn’t do their job, they’ll be held accountable.”

Speaking with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program on Monday, the president said that “ultimately, as commander in chief, I’m responsible and I don’t shy away from that responsibility. My No. 1 responsibility is to go after the folks who did this, and we’re going to make sure we get them. I’ve got a pretty good track record of doing that.”

Nation’s oldest nuclear plant on alert

The nation’s oldest nuclear power plant, already out of service for scheduled refueling, was put on alert late Monday after waters from Superstorm Sandy rose 6 feet above sea level.

Conditions were still safe at and around Oyster Creek, a plant in Lacey Township, N.J., and at all other U.S. nuclear plants, said the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which oversees plant safety. No plants that had been up and running before the storm were planning to shut down.

High water levels at Oyster Creek, which generates enough electricity to power 600,000 homes a year, prompted safety officials to declare an “unusual event” around 7 p.m. About two hours later, the situation was upgraded to an “alert,” the second-lowest in a four-tiered warning system.

The plant’s owner, Exelon Corp., said power was also disrupted in the station’s switchyard, but backup diesel generators were providing stable power, with more than two weeks of fuel on hand.

A rising tide, the direction of the wind and the storm’s surge combined to raise water levels in the plant’s intake structure, the NRC said. The agency said that water levels are expected to recede within hours and that the plant, which went online in 1969 and is set to close in 2019, is watertight and capable of withstanding hurricane-force winds.

Iran has pictures of restricted Israeli areas: Iran MP

Iran holds pictures of Israeli bases and other restricted areas obtained from a drone launched into Israeli airspace earlier this month, an Iranian lawmaker was quoted as saying on Monday.

Earlier this month, Israel shot down a drone after it flew 25 miles into the Jewish state. Lebanese militant group Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the aircraft, saying its parts had been manufactured in Iran and assembled in Lebanon.

The drone transmitted pictures of Israel’s “sensitive bases” before it was shot down, said Esmail Kowsari, chair of parliament’s defense committee, according to Iran’s Mehr news agency. He was speaking to Iran’s Arabic-language Al-Alam, Mehr reported on Monday.

NUCLEAR POWER PLANT 25 MILES FROM NYC CAN ONLY WITHSTAND 1 FOOT HIGHER STORM SURGE

In what would be one of the most catastrophic events in world history,  a nuclear power plant just 25 miles north of New York city is in the target pathway of Sandy.  The much criticized power plant, Indian Point, has been the center of recent controversy of it’s continued existence post Fukushima Daiichi.  Calls to shut down the aging plant have been mostly ignored.  Twenty million people reside in the nuclear plant’s 50 mile fallout zone, making it the most dangerous plant in the country and one of the most dangerous in the world.  Indian Point supplies around 30% of the regions power, mainly to New York City.

Indian Point is programmed to go offline in the event there is sustained winds of over 74mph or a 10.5 feet rise in sea level.  The nuclear power plant is only capable of withstanding a rise of 15 feet in sea level according to reports. 

It appears the storm surge may be peaking near 14 ft– it remains to be seen how much further flooding the Hudson River will experience upstream.

At What Point Will the Military Honor Their Oath?

The following information is a ‘rumor”. I believe this information will break the Obama cover-up of the Benghazi tragedy wide open. This is not the only source leaking this information which surfaced at the end of last week.

There are two points for us to consider and consider seriously:

1. If true, we now have our answer to where the military will stand when the “commander-in-chief” issues his dictates regardless of honor and/or the constitutionality of the order.

2. At what point does the military honor its oath to the Constitution of the United States?

We now come to the point in time when we must determine what percentage of the people of the United States have Sacred honor. I believe that the percentage of the people who believe in our founding principles, morally and Sacred honor are in a minority.

It does not take a majority to prevail… but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.

HMS Bounty Sinks Off N.C. Coast, 2 Crew Missing

Bounty 3“The HMS Bounty, a 180-foot, three-mast tall ship, was last marked about 90 miles southeast of Hatteras.

The ship has sunk, according to the Coast Guard at 8:45 a.m. Monday.

Just before 8 a.m., the Facebook page for the HMS Bounty says 14 of the 16 people who had to abandon their ship have been hoisted to safety.

There have been conflicting reports on how many people were onboard. The manifest reportedly listed 16 people, and that’s the number the Coast Guard has.”

SECRET U.S., IRANIAN MEETINGS TO CONTINUE

The United States and Iran are moving forward with secret negotiations, despite denying earlier meetings took place, according to a source highly placed in the Islamic government.

The source, who remains anonymous for security reasons, added that teams from both sides will resume the talks in the coming days with the hope of reaching agreement to announce a breakthrough before the U.S. elections.

The source said the Obama administration seems to need a diplomatic victory before the elections in the wake of the attack in Libya that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans because the administration failed to adequately protect the Benghazi consulate.

If President Obama is not re-elected, however, the source contends any agreement reached after the elections will be announced and enforced while he is still in office, once Iran’s supreme leader receives written guarantees from Obama.

Congress gangs up over Libya

Everyone in Congress seems to want a bite at the Libya apple.

Lawmakers have launched a half-dozen probes, scheduled numerous hearings and sent dozens of letters to the Obama administration asking for information on the attack at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.

The administration also is undertaking its own investigation into the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi where four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, were killed.

In Congress, lawmakers from the Armed Services, Homeland Security, Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight Committees have all asked for information from the Obama administration over the attacks. Most are Republicans, but some Democrats, such as Senate Intelligence Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), are also involved.

The widespread interest from Congress highlights the complex nature of the attack, as well as problems with the Obama administration’s shifting response.

Another Obama Legacy: Stealth Iranian Attack Drones Are Being Deployed

Iran has developed a stealth attack drone with a 2,000 km range.  How did this country develop a system which allowed them (allegedly) to gather intelligence on the US Fifth Fleet even before capturing the RQ-170 drone:

Iranian sources claim that the latest drone was tested in combat conditions In November 2011. A UAV was sent secretly over US Fifth Fleet vessels in the Persian Gulf, collected data and gained valuable experience for its further development.

Although Iran already had a drone program in place for several years, how were they able to manufacture a long range stealth drone?

1. The American RQ-170 drone “captured” by Iran last December gave them the stealth capabilities by duplicating its fiberglass covering. This stealth capability has also been adapted to other weapons systems such as helicopters and probably their speedboats. The drone’s electronics and computer programs were also reverse engineered.

2. How could Iran reverse engineer cutting edge technology?

The great progress Iran has made in the past five years in all these fields has been helped along by Iranian students returning home from studies at MIT and other universities in the United States, Britain and Germany.

We hear the president dictate that affordable college education is a “right” for everyone. While our “students” get degrees in community organizing and social engineering, we now see the consequences unfolding by the subsidies of our universities to train foreign students.

3. Obama has no interest in a strong America: economically, morally or militarily. He will do everything in his power to relegate the United States to a level commensurate with every other Muslim nation.

Ahmad Vahidi warned Sunday, Oct. 28, in Tehran: “The drone was definitely not the latest Iranian technology.”DEBKAfile: He was talking about the drone which Iran and Hizballah sent over Israeli airspace on Oct. 6 and stressing that it was not the last word in their UAV armory – or even the last to invade Israel’s skies.

According to our military sources, in mid-September, Tehran secretly shipped to Lebanon a batch of dismantled Ababil-T UAVs although the Iranians could not be sure that Israel would not discover their location and its air force bomb them before they were launched. The Syrian war is also making it hard to maintain permanent Iranian launching teams in Lebanon.
