After seeing a 30% devaluation of the Rupee since last August, the central bank of India has been strugling to stabilize their currency – but the citizens of India have their eyes open, and have been buying gold coins, ingots, and even gold jewelry at a break-neck pace, further inflaming their trade imbalance (particularly in oil), and further driving depreciation of their troubled currency.
So what has the Indian government done? Prohibit the retail sale of gold coins and boulion. Unfortunately, this is no Joke – this makes India the first nation of the 21st century to force participation in their fiat currency scheme. Do not expect them to be the last. Greece may well enact gold confiscation shortly before converting to the new Drachma…thus ensuring that no Greek citizen escapes the privation to come… Cypress and Portugal are also very likely to first regulate, and then confiscate precious metals if their economies continue in the death spiral.
Please bear in mind that it was only 60 years ago that India went through a rather violent time of unrest to obtain their independence, and there have been repeated waves of religious conflict within the country since then, so “taking it to the street” is actually a common occurrence which often turns violent. In fact, civil unrest has been on the rise in India of late, although the western media seems to have a totally blind eye to this fact.
In fact, the increasing levels of violence, protests, and potential for non-democratic changes of government are increasing all around the globe. Russia, China, Mexico, and many other countries are experiencing the same monetary and economic forces which India and Europe are presently dealing with, and are doing their best to deal with the resultant social issues. We should pray that no one adds any more salt to the pot, as this is already quite a potent stew, and we shall be dining on it for years to come.
I expect that things will be very ugly across Europe and the Mid-East by the time Americans go to the polls in November.
Gunmen driving a van packed with gas canisters firebombed the Athens headquarters of Microsoft on Wednesday, underscoring the threat of instability as Greece asks for more time and less hardship in cutting its crippling debt.
Fire gutted the ground floor of the blue four-storey HQ of the U.S. software giant, blackening its walls with flames, on the eve of yet another European summit seeking a solution to a regional debt crisis first unleashed by Greece.
At least two attackers were involved in the sophisticated assault at 4.45 a.m. (0145 GMT) in Maroussi, a northern suburb of the sprawling Greek capital, police said.
Brandishing pistols and an automatic rifle, they kept security guards at bay and set fire to the van carrying three gas canisters and five cans of gasoline. No one was hurt in the early morning assault.

Another urgent bid for the US to lead an allied offensive against Syria’s ruling regime fell on deaf ears in Washington. It came Tuesday, June 26, from Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, who is spoiling for action after a Syrian anti-air ambush downed a Turkish reconnaissance jet flying over Latakia last Friday.
In several phone calls to President Barack Obama, Erdogan argued forcefully that the incident provided the perfect opening for a Western-Muslim-Arab offensive, according to DEBKAfile’s military and intelligence sources. This offensive, said the Turkish leader, could drive into Syria, create no-fly zones, attack regime and military targets and establish safe zones for rebels and refugees. The Turkish army, air force and navy stood ready for immediate action, he said, but the US must take the military lead in this operation – and not just “from behind,” as in Libya.
Obama replied the time had not yet come for direct US military intervention in Syria, and covert operations by American, British, Turkish and French special operations forces should continue inside the country.
When planning for a SHTF scenario, there’s really only one thing that we can be sure of; Survival will be a bigger challenge than you ever believed possible. While you can defiantly take measures to prepare yourself for what’s to come, when you’re talking about a SHTF scenario, all bets are really off.
Here are 10 things that you may have never considered when planning for a SHTF survival situation.
Law Enforcement Issues
1. No Law Enforcement
During an extreme SHTF scenario, it is very likely that law enforcement and emergency responders will be nonexistent. Even during small scale disasters, law enforcement officers often leave to take care of their own families first. When things go bad (empty grocery stores, no utilities, mass riots, violence, etc.) you are more than likely going to have to defend yourself.
2. Fake Law Enforcement
In a SHTF Scenario you need to be on the lookout for everything including people impersonating law enforcement and military personnel. During a catastrophic event, you will most likely see criminals preying on the innocent by pretending to be either police or military officers. You have to be able to quickly determine who is who, or stay away from people at all costs.
3. Law Enforcement and the Military Will Try to Take Your Guns.
Think it can’t happen? It already has! In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans Police Superintendent Eddie Compass ordered all local law enforcement, including the U.S. Marshalls office and the National Guard, to seize all civilian firearms.
Without warrants, armed National Guard troops and New Orleans law enforcement officials forcibly confiscated over 1,000 legal firearms from law abiding citizens. The New Orleans gun confiscation should serve as a warning to how the government and law enforcement officials will react during a large scale national disaster. It is extremely likely that they will come for your guns!

With that description of who I am and who my folks are, know that today, when deplaning from a business trip to Texas, I was approached by a member of the FBI who presented his credentials and asked if he could talk to me. Simultaneously, half a dozen or so other members of my group were being approached by agents of the FBI, Michigan State Police, and a couple other county departments.
None of us were arrested or detained. I was in their company less than 10 minutes, once I was escorted with a uniformed officer on my left, plain clothes sheriff’s deputy (or junior g-man) at my six, and the senior investigator moving from either 2 to 8 O’clock all the way to the detention/interview room. We were let in by a ‘high fructose corn syrup’ fed locally employed, armed police officer, in other words, he was really fat!

There are some hard truths to be embraced before anything will be done in the patriot/liberty community. One of those is that the majority of people will never be so inconvenienced that they will voluntarily move toward liberty. Liberty holds no value for most people who sing the national anthem at baseball games. They are just words they are supposed to revere.
The majority is looking for someone or something to help them live a more comfortable life. Some are willing to swindle and commit fraud in order to be successful. Hard work of survival is not in their bloodstream. Those of us who understand hard work, who would not find survival off the land so much different from survival working every day as we do now are not all that plentiful. If your job is not physically demanding, I trust you have committed yourselves to training to overcome that fact.
So, here we are, fit and ready, annoyed and disgusted by what we see around us and the pieces keep falling into place. TSA is given a wider mandate, etc. It is this part of the movement that I do not understand. Where do we jump off? I suppose as long as life is tolerable we will continue along, waiting for that moment, which I hold has come and gone, easily managed by the politicians of the day.

How soon until China re-dips its toe in Europe with a modest “bailout” nobody can refuse in exchange for a simple caveat: you get paid in renminbi?
