Today, President Obama stood on the Brent Spence Bridge that connects Ohio to Kentucky and spoke about how the American Jobs Act could help rebuild that bridge and thousands like it, and put construction workers and manufacturers back to work.

Unless you were listening to CNBC or The Frank Roche Show (and I wasn’’t even on the air), the talking heads are struggling to explain the Fed action taken yesterday, 9/21/2011. Allow me.
As they do eight times per year, the Federal Reserve’’s Open Market Committee (FOMC) met this week to discuss the economy and adjust monetary policy accordingly. The FOMC is a group of 12 members of the Federal Reserve. The group includes 7 members of the Board of Governors, including the Chairman, Ben Bernanke (each governor is appointed by the President and approved by Congress), the President of the NY Fed (NY Fed is the “”trading desk”” for the Federal Reserve system), and 4 regional Federal Reserve Presidents on a rotating basis (there are 12 Fed Banks around the country, for example: the Boston Fed, the NY Fed, the San Fran Fed, the Kansas City Fed).

Catchy title but slavery should never be tolerated in any form. Slavery ranges from full property where the slave’s owner can kill him or her without any repercussions through the confiscation/extortion of property at the other end. This last form where the “fruits of one’s labor” is taken without compensation is what led to the American Revolution.

The CBOE MKT VOLATILITY IDX (VIX) measures volatility in the stock market but it is generally called the fear index. If you had invested in fear on Monday morning, you would have realized a 34.21% profit in four days.
Playing Monday morning quarterback is no way to live your life and this is not the point. While the “experts” will drone on about the meaning of volatility/fear in the market, this is not the time to wait and see. The statement I commonly hear is “we have seen this before and the market always comes back”.

President Obama gave the following speech today at the United Nations concerning American support of a Palestinian State. Although he is hedging his position until after meetings with both the leaders of the Palestinian Authority and Israel, it appears that he is leaning toward supporting Israeli security interests at this time.

One representative of the Palestinian delegation is shown shaking his head near the end of the speech (5.52 minutes). Why do the Palestinian people deserve their own country (state)? There has never been a Palestine in history.

The Federal Reserve’s FOMC meeting results will be announced today. Ben Bernanke’s arsenal is running low to revive the world’s economy. The rumors before the announcement are that he will institute “Operation Twist” which was last used in the 1960s.
As French banks are borrowing money to survive (from the Fed), will France will thrown into the PIIGS’ sty next? The Federal Reserve is now trying to implement policies to save both the United States and Europe. Operation twist may well be the final tool left to accomplish this but no one believes it will be effective.

As the Obama administration has become ensnared in a Solyndragate investigation, Congressman Darrell Issa has launched another investigation for LightSquared in what looks like an expanding cash for political contributions scandal.

Citing concerns over alleged White House influence in dispersing loans, California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa announced that the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee would begin an investigation into the wireless startup LightSquared.
On C-SPAN’s Washington Journal Tuesday morning, Issa, who chairs the Oversight Committee, named LightSquared along with the embattled solar energy company Solyndra as examples of “crony capitalism.”
“I want to see when the president and his cronies are picking winners and losers,” he explained, “that it wasn’t because there were large contributions given to them.”
“Papers, Please” was a common request of German citizens during World War II. Everyone had to have proper documentation at all times in order to function on a daily basis. In the United States, our government has transformed the simple request of identification for illegal aliens stopped by police and at the voting booth to be actually illegal.
As Day 4 of “Occupy Wall Street” is now in place with little coverage by the media, papers (identification) are required in order to even enter a public street in America. It would appear that “Papers, Please” depends on the situation: financial business is more important than national security, voting or community protection.
Is it possible that the people organizing “Occupy Wall Street” are correct in their assertion of the power of big banks in the United States? When the day comes that access to public streets is limited without any legal justification, we have a duty to oppose this abuse of power. Freedom does not apply to some of us: it applies to all of us.
