Renee Ellmers Makes Her Mark

I received an email today from Western North Carolina concerning an article in the New York Times on Renee Ellmers:

A friend from NY sent the below to me concerning an article in the NTY Times concerning Ellmers and Nan Hayworth. You should check it out. When the NYT is saying nice things about a Republican, it is time to get rid of them.

I had hoped to hear Mrs. Ellmers explanation for supporting partisan politics instead of the people in her district concerning the debt ceiling legislation on this past Tuesday night. But she pulled another “Ellmers” and cancelled at the last minute. This is the third time that I know she has done this after verifying the appointment or meeting.

Mrs. Ellmers is still under the impression that she won the last election. She did not win: Bob Etheridge lost after his altercation with the student who tried to interview him. She will face a different Democrat in the next election assuming that she is not Tea Partied in the primary.

And Down the Slope We Slide

Don’t think this could be a future scenario ?  Think again:

Imagine America faces a crisis of malnutrition. Millions of Americans are consuming too many processed foods and too few fresh foods. To stem the crisis, Congress enacts a comprehensive food reform law, requiring food sellers to meet minimum nutritional standards and provide access to healthy foods. The new law makes food more expensive, and many Americans opt out of the food market altogether, choosing to grow their own food instead. The food industry teeters on the verge of collapse. To prevent this collapse, Congress passes another law mandating that individuals buy a minimum amount of healthy food each month. Individuals who fail to buy the minimum amount face a stiff penalty.

Can Congress do this? Does the Constitution give the federal government power to make you buy healthy food? These questions are the heart of the Obamacare lawsuits—merely substitute “health insurance” for “healthy food.” If Obamacare’s health insurance mandate is upheld—as the federal Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in late June—individual liberty is in serious long-term jeopardy.

Freaked Out White Men Who Are Unemployed

Rick Santelli makes an excellent comparison to how King George would describe our founding fathers based on Meredith Whitney’s remarks.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCEzV_-Qyj4

It would be interesting to review England’s opinions of the “terrorists” in the colonies who were asking for representation in exchange for the fruits of their labor. If captured, our founding fathers would have had a swift trial ending at the end of a noose. Our Revolution was called the Presbyterian War in England because the clergy stood up and promoted natural law under God. The British army did not even consider the men serving under Washington as soldiers but unwashed rabble. That was the reason the Hessian troops killed prisoners instead of according them any status as soldiers.

Is North Korea Making Its Move?

North Korea is not letting a crisis go to waste. Our enemies smell blood in the water and the United States can expect global resistance to weaken our resolve and resources to defend freedom around the world. When you couple a weakened economy with an incompetent administration, the sharks will always start to circle. Russia has labelled the United States as “a parasite” on the world. China is calling for the world to adopt a new world reserve currency and their Dagong Credit Agency has downgraded our credit rating.

Why is North Korea important? This country is the pawn of our real enemies and they have nothing to lose in order to “win” the war against the United States. North Koreans have been told by their government that they are at war with us in order to force them to endure sacrifice in the name of their leader and country.

Is Anyone Home?

The stock market continued its collapse today as it lost another 520 points in heavy volume.

Gold is currently at $1792 an ounce as our leaders continue their summer vacation or conduct meetings that produce no results. As shown below, the market has lost 11.03% in August as Congress and the president passed debt ceiling legislation that did not address our fiscal insolvency. Notice the increased volume as people and institutions abandon the last bastion of Capitalism.

The Shape of Things to Come?

As state government budgets were finalized across the country before July 1st, the expected state employee layoffs did not materialize. One of the reasons was an overestimation of income as the economy improves during the fiscal year. This wishful thinking of “counting your chickens before they are hatched”, is starting to unfold:

California tax revenue plummets in July, raising fear of trigger cuts

California’s tax revenue plummeted in July, missing expectations by nearly $539 million and raising fears that deep education cuts will be needed to keep the state budget balanced.

The bad news, announced Tuesday, came less than two months after Gov. Jerry Brown and state lawmakers patched together a budget on the assumption that a budding economic recovery would produce a $4-billion revenue windfall. Those hopes are now fading.

The plunge occurred before the recent Wall Street gyrations that wiped away many of the year’s stock-market gains. If the economy remains sluggish and the $4 billion does not materialize, cuts in public schools, universities, libraries, child care, and services for the elderly and frail will automatically take effect.

“Every drop in revenues puts us closer to the drastic trigger cuts that could be imposed next year,” state Controller John Chiang said in a statement accompanying his July revenue report.

In Washington on Tuesday, the Federal Reserve sharply downgraded its outlook for the American economy, predicting a “slower pace of recovery” than previously forecast.

Unless the government addresses the factors that led to our credit rating downgrade, expect to see the above trend in California spread across the country. On the bright side, at least the states have budgets: the Federal government seems to think a budget is no longer relevant.

Flight Restrictions Over Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant and Cooper Nuclear Station Are Still In Place

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a temporary flight restriction over the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant until further notice due to “Hazards” on June 6, 2011. On June 7, 2011, the FAA issued the same restriction over the Cooper Nuclear Station.

It is now two months later and these restrictions are still in place. While the FAA has a different opinion of “temporary” than the average person, what hazardous conditions are still impacting these facilities?

Gold American Eagle Sales Suspended

The United States Mint suspended the sale of American Eagles for re-pricing. The move is temporary and sales should be continued later today. This is another example of how the US government has no understanding of the free market. As the price of a commodity or service increases, the cost also increases accordingly. Although the converse is true, when it comes to gold, its price only increases as our economy and dollar declines.

Real Leadership Is Color Blind

Michael Nutter is the mayor of Philadelphia and should be applauded for taking a stand against violence by African Americans. He has announced a curfew today for all children 13 and under for 10:00 PM and 12:00 PM for 18 and under. His public statements in church are shown below. Although his comments were directed at African Americans, common sense and parental responsibility applies to everyone.

There is no other solution …

The following is a comment on the article:

Americans Are Now Classified As Pre-Revolutionary.

A contemporary of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) passed an interesting judgement on the growth of the US general government and its craving for wealth and power:

“But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain – that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.”  – Lysander Spooner

At this point in time we are forced to reflect on the choices presented by Lincoln in his First Innaugural Address (yes, I still despise Lincoln):

Socialism only works in two places:  Heaven where they don’t need it and hell where they already have it.

Ronald Reagan

So where are we as the consequences of the conversion of the United States to Socialism are now clearly evident? The people who understood the peril of our financial crisis put pressure on Congress to cut spending prior to the debt ceiling resolution. Congress ignored the will of the people and the July 15th warning from Standard & Poor’s concerning a credit rating downgrade. Now that the consequences of their arrogance have caused a stock market collapse and the promised credit rating downgrade, the Tea Party is blamed and no solutions are presented by our “leaders”.

But this is old news and not totally unexpected. The people who sound the alarm are always blamed by the people who cause the crisis. Mark Twain gave an excellent definition of a true patriot:

How to Play the Blame-Game

If we must endure the finger-pointing exercise that is Washington, then we should play the Blame-Game properly:

Source: Big Government

So, lets do the math …

“social engineering” of the Democrats = 85%

“evil empire” of the Republicans = 15%

Any question regarding how our “Days of Rage” should be directed ?

Time to Print More Money

Alan Greenspan made the statement today on Meet the Press:

“The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to
do that. So there is zero probability of default”

Although he is correct, there are two points that need to be considered:

Rules for Radicals – Day of Rage Style

The following information comes from the Day of Rage website concerning “affinity groups”. Next time someone informs you that the Tea Party is well funded and organized, refer them here. Also visit their sponsors and who they support at the end of this article. I will agree that Publius is unhappy but not for the reasons that these organizers think they (James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and John Jay) would be. It appears that Al Gore’s dream of an American Spring will be coming to a location near you as the end of this Summer.

Self-sufficient support systems

About 5 to 15 people.

A number of affinity groups may work together toward a common goal in a large action, or one affinity group might conceive of and carry out an action on its own. Sometimes, affinity groups remain together over a long period of time, existing as political support or study groups, and only occasionally participating in actions.

If you are planning to do civil disobedience, it is a good idea to either form an affinity group or join an already existing one.
