Russia Is Not Letting a Crisis Go to Waste

The following video from Russia Today is the beginning of an effort to destabilize our government and consumer confidence.

What part of their analysis do you disagree with? When we sow politicians instead of leaders in our government, we will reap the consequences unfolding in our country.

Are They Freaking Crazy?

Harry Reid’s solution to return the country to fiscal stability and regain our AAA credit rating is to raise taxes:

In a statement, Reid said:

The action by S&P reaffirms the need for a balanced approach to deficit reduction that combines spending cuts with revenue-raising measures like closing taxpayer-funded giveaways to billionaires, oil companies and corporate jet owners. This makes the work of the joint committee all the more important, and shows why leaders should appoint members who will approach the committee’s work with an open mind – instead of hardliners who have already ruled out the balanced approach that the markets and rating agencies like S&P are demanding.

The Consequences of Standard & Poor’s Credit Downgrade

Foxnews is reporting how the Republicans running for their party’s nomination are reacting to the downgrade of the United States by Standard & Poor’s:

GOP Presidential Contenders Pile on Obama for Historic Credit Downgrade

While the announcement late Friday wasn’t a surprise – the country has faced a possible downgrade since April – and the U.S. still  maintains a top rating with the other two major credit rating agencies, the  development offers fresh ammunition to the president’s opponents who have been  relentless in hammering him on his economic record, which is seen as his  greatest vulnerability.
I have two points to make concerning this report:

  1. The other two major credit rating agencies will follow the examples of Standard & Poor’s and Egan-Jones downgrading our credit.  This report should have included follow up interviews from the other agencies.
  2. Who cares? Our country needs solutions now: making a crisis into a campaign issue over the next 15 months will seal only our fate.

Congress is on recess (vacation) until after Labor Day. The president is dancing barefoot in the Rose Garden as the country’s economic status is burning. So what are the consequences of this downgrade as our government watches from the sidelines?

Tea Party Support Comes at a Price

Several candidates in our state were elected on the coattails of the Tea Party and patriot groups. This windfall support came at no cost to these candidates but we hoped that their “walk” would match their “talk”. As we found out this week, Renee Ellmers’ “walk” is not living up to her “talk” and the movement to replace her in 2012 has already started.

Another candidate who was elected as a Constitutional / Tea Party member of the state house was Glen Bradley. Not only did Mr. Bradley live up to his “talk”, his “walk” exceeded expectations. Unfortunately, Mr. Bradley’s support for the Constitution was not shared by the GOP leadership in Raleigh who did not allow even one of his ten bills to get a vote on the floor. In one case, the suppression was blatant as shown in this video:

Unemployment in Winston-Salem, NC

The following report from the Winston-Salem Journal details the rise in unemployment in the Triad and Northwest North Carolina. I read the following question today and personally answered no:

Do you know anyone who has a job based on one of the stimulus programs?

Now ask yourself a related question:

Do you know anyone who has lost a job since the “recession” ended?

The solution to unemployment is simple: remove uncertainty in the marketplace due to government intervention by removing government intervention.

Another Round of Crisis Talks – in Europe

The events in Washington and Wall Street over the past week have diverted our attention from the Middle East and the European Union. Although concern about individual portfolios is warranted, the stock market decline is not limited to the United States. In some respects, the collapse of the European Union has been beneficial to our country as reflected in the recent strengthening of the dollar index and lower oil prices (not yet seen at the pump).

However, instability in Europe will impact the world’s economy and the possibility of expanding military action if the Jasmin Revolution is able to exploit their financial collapse is a possibility throughout northern Europe. It appears the the European Central Bank will not be a major part of future actions. Let’s hope that the IMF (meaning the United States) will not bail Europe out.

A Message from Michelle Obama

Friend —

Every day, I see Barack make choices he knows will affect every American family. That’s no small task for anyone — and more proof that he’s earning every last one of those gray hairs.

This has been a busy week in Washington, but today happens to be Barack’s 50th birthday. I’m writing to you because this year, the girls and I would like to do something a little different.

I’m asking friends and supporters of this campaign to wish him a happy birthday by signing his card, and sharing why you’re on this journey with us.

Al Gore Calls for “American Spring” Revolution

“We need to have an American spring, you know, the Arab spring. The non-violent part of it isn’t finished yet, but we need to have an American spring. A kind of an American Tahrir Square. Non-violent change where people from the grassroots get involved again. Not the, you know, not in the Tea Party style,'” Al Gore said on Current TV’s “Countdown with Keith Olbermann.”

Real Clear Politics

Well, that’s nice !

“The calls for open revolution by the Progressive/Marxists are getting stronger and stronger. Mixed in it, Gore claims he wants non-violent revolution. He’s lying. Listen to how Russia TV is wording this. They are fomenting outright revolution here in the US. RT is a subversive and Communist propaganda outlet for Russia. Russia would love to see us implode.”

Is It Time to Buy Gold?

Is it time to buy gold? Gold has undergone a meteoric rise in the past month as people flee to the “safe haven of gold”. Although it is reported as reaching new highs, this is not true when adjusted for inflation. Here is the CPI inflation calculator from the government’s Bureau of Labor Statistics:

CPI Inflation Calculator

1980

Has the same buying power as:

$2,328.44 2011

After gold passes $2328.44/oz, it will pass its previous record (assuming no additional inflation). So who is buying gold?

Alert: Tea Party Crashes Stock Market – Flees to Gold

Patriots standing up for our country have been relentlessly attacked by our government, media and liberals. When presented with facts, these attacks in the past have been deflected by the old political correctness retort: the Tea Party is racist. Now that this is no longer effective, we are now called “terrorists“.

As the stock market crash foreshadows the upcoming economic collapse, our politicians are recessed until after Labor Day after their debt ceiling legislation became the catalyst for this consequence. The following chart shows the decline of the Dow Jones Industrials compared with the rise of gold. This is a direct result of economic terrorism by the Tea Party to destroy the country by fleeing to gold.

Wall Street Journal Becomes Part of the Main Stream Media

The Wall Street Journal was a publication that I considered to be the last bastion of free market news with an impeccable reputation. Notice the past tense. An editorial in the WSJ comparing patriots (Tea Party members) to hobbits was read by Sen. McCain and then used in a speech on the senate floor last week.

Here is another example of their journalistic prowess. Do you see the flaw in the following excerpt from their article concerning the jobless claims:

Christmas Crisis

Now that the debt ceiling legislation passed by Congress has been out for three days, our congressmen and media are starting to read the bill. The details of the bill are starting to emerge and the public backlash is forming as our government has spent $329 billion in just one day since its passage. Our debt to GDP is 98.3% but this figure does not include mandated unfunded liabilities which puts our true debt to GDP ratio at 785.41%. This is Portugal, Italy, Ireland and Spain combined on steroids.

Congress fled Washington after the vote without addressing other important issues such as the continued funding for the FAA. This will cost the government $1.2 billion in uncollected fees:
