It is obligatory that I point out that possession of such medical devices is in NO WAY a substitute for proper education and training. You can do MORE HARM with such things via misuse than by not using them at all. GET TRAINING….
The training required is minimal as shown in the video. I recommend topical antibiotics in the wound after irrigation before closing it. The alternative of not closing the wound is more than offset than any risk associated with this simple device.
Having watched two of my own hand surgeries I can state from doc that their move to thorough irrigation with sterile water greatly reduced infection and promoted healing vs the times before when they didn’t use essentially a small low pressure water hose to clean the wound first. Doc didn’t use staple on top of my hand and thumb but sutures. Went well.
