A man standing on his roof during a flood sees a boat coming by with people yelling at him to get in so he can be safe, but the man refuses saying,”No, the Lord will save me”, and so the boat moves on to help others.
The rain continues and the water rises even further. Another boat comes nearby but again the man waves it away saying, “Don’t worry, the Lord will save me”.
Still the water keeps rising, almost up to where the man is standing on the peak of the roof. He sees a helicopter flying low overhead, lowering a rope so the man can climb aboard. Again the man say, “No, I know the Lord will save me”. The helicopter flies away to save others.
The water continues to rise, and the man’s house is washed away and he drowns. He opens his eyes to see clouds and light, and an angel standing over him. The man asked the angel, “Why didn’t God save me?”, and the angel replied, “What about the boats and the helcopter, who do you think sent those?”.
