Americans have been rightly impressed by the “amazing contrast”
between the statements on the ISIS threat delivered by Obama and
British Prime Minister David Cameron. While Cameron has been much
more forthright on the threat posed by Islamic extremists, he too has been
careful to distinguish between “Islam” and “extremism.”
Obama confounded and outraged many in his speech to the nation
Wednesday by declaring that “ISIL is not ‘Islamic.’” Cameron today,
in a statement on the beheading of David Haines, echoed Obama
by declaring that ISIS “claim to do this in the name of Islam.
That is nonsense. Islam is a religion of peace.
They are not Muslims. They are monsters.”
