I am ashamed that North Carolina is represented in the Senate by Thom Tillis for multiple reasons:
1. Any congressman who would entertain working legislatively with Cory Booker should not be representing North Carolina. Here is just one example of Mr. Booker’s contempt for America.
2. 28 CFR 600.1 – Grounds for appointing a Special Counsel.
The Attorney General, or in cases in which the Attorney General is recused, the Acting Attorney General, will appoint a Special Counsel when he or she determines that criminal investigation of a person or matter is warranted and –
(a) That investigation or prosecution of that person or matter by a United States Attorney’s Office or litigating Division of the Department of Justice would present a conflict of interest for the Department or other extraordinary circumstances; and
(b) That under the circumstances, it would be in the public interest to appoint an outside Special Counsel to assume responsibility for the matter.
How can a Special Counsel be appointed without a crime being committed? This Special Counsel has no legal foundation so why is Tillis trying to introduce legislation to justify and protect its authority?
3. The Department of Justice is under the control of the President:
The Executive Branch of the United States Government – which is the Federal branch responsible for both the regulation and oversight of the Department of Justice is defined as any and all agencies, councils, offices, and departments structured under its control through the formulation of the Constitution of the United States of America.
Other than political ambition, what gives a junior senator the authority to override the Constitution? Mr. Trump not only has the legal authority to fire Mueller without cause, he should have already fired him.
4. The Department of Justice has a ruling from the Office of Legal Counsel that prevents the investigation of the President while in office. The Special Counsel must abide by this ruling.
I hope that people will see that Mr. Tillis does not represent North Carolina or our future: he represents the political elite who comprise the Deep State. His lack of understanding of the Constitution and the rule of law is on display for all to see.

Tillis, Graham, Coons & Booker introduce merged legislation, the Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act
US Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Chris Coons (D-DE), and Cory Booker (D-NJ) will introduce the Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act.
The new legislation merges two parallel efforts into one unified, bipartisan bill. In August of 2017, Senators Tillis and Coons introduced the Special Counsel Integrity Act, S. 1741, and Senators Graham and Booker introduced the Special Counsel Independence Protection Act, S. 1735. The bipartisan legislation introduced today harmonizes the Coons-Tillis bill and the Graham-Booker bill.
The Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act:
- Codifies existing Department of Justice regulations to ensure that the Special Counsel can only be fired for good cause by a senior Justice Department official, and the reason must be provided in writing.
- Provides the Special Counsel a 10-day window in which he can seek expedited judicial review of his removal to determine whether the firing was for good cause. If the firing is ultimately determined to have violated the good-cause requirement, the removal will not take effect.
- Preserves the staffing, documents, and materials of the investigation while the matter is pending.
“This compromise bipartisan bill helps ensure that special counsels – present or future – have the independence they need to conduct fair and impartial investigations,” said Senator Tillis. “The integrity and independence of special counsel investigations are vital to reaffirming the American people’s confidence in our nation’s rule of law.”
