That’s EXACTLY what cost me my left lung. A “so rare we never see it” ‘encapsulated tumor’ that grew…and grew and GREW until they cut out over 1/2 my left Airbag… told me it was a one-in-four-million event. A year after surgery I met the other ‘Lottery Winners” (at those odds amiright?) at the oncology clinic at James A Haley VA… there were 6 of us…
ALL with the same exact ‘flavor’ of Cancer. Soooo Rare INDEED
I had thankfully gotten my treatment at Moffit. They told me they’d cut the tumor down… thin-sliced it for research… told me they found, at the core a teeny, tiny ‘bit’ of what they think was DU. My body’s reaction to my inhaling it (all that time in Baghdad I was glowing at one point) was to ‘encapsulate it’ and to try to fight it off, ergo: Cancer. I was lucky.
Some of the kids at the VA when we were comparing notes, one kid (like 23 at the time) had lost almost his whole breathing system… down to like 3/4 left of ONE lung…
It’s this Generation’s Agent Orange… They’ll only admit to it when almost all of us are dead. And Me? I’m never getting any bennies for it. I was a ‘contractor’ so I can’t get -any- disability claims for it. Hell… I tried to get SSD back when I first got wiped out and was told “Nope!”
Any wonder why NO ONE trusts the DotGov or DotMil?
