No downturn in the weapons industries. Raytheon just got a $687 million contract with the DOD. You see, we just sent about 1400 shoulder Stingers to Ukraine. That means our inventory is getting low! Raytheon CEO Greg Hayes was quick to point this out and got the $$$. He also was helpful to point out that the gubmint hasn’t ordered any Stingers in about 18 years. Even if we didn’t send any to Ukraine, time to update those old rusty Stingers! We got rid of the old ones an can get updated new ones!!! There’s the silver lining to the war in Ukraine!!!

Since this is Memorial Day weekend, I will remember my best friend, Pfc. Mike Waterloo, C Co., 2/27, 25th Infantry Division, KIA Republic of Viet Nam, 24 June 1969. Also my good friend Steve Dwyer, KIA in Rhodesia 1979. Killed at the same time was Hugh McCall, another American I didn’t know. RIP.

Sound conclusions, while we can’t know for sure what is going to happen, history assures us things are heading down. Inflation and government corruption are nothing new, we know where this is going!

There seem to be lots of boomers commenting on this site. The future does not bode well for us, our retirement income is evaporating and our ability to work and earn an income is declining or non existant, what shall we do?
Well we can rely on family if we have it, if not we will have to look else where.
Hopefully we have a home that is paid for and maybe we can trade room for help!

Some retirees already can not afford electricity, hopefully they can still afford to heat their homes. During an inflationary down turn the value of your money evaporates, the only thing to do is to purchase real goods while you can.

Right now one of the things still cheap are solar panels. Forty years ago I purchased two ARCO panels at $450 each producing 35 watts, enough to light the house, during power outages. A few weeks ago I bought another set of two 100 w panels for less than $ 200. Unfortunatly batteries have not droped in price, but inverters have.

Having reliable lighting, a refegerator and some power for communication and pumping water can make all the difference in the world, life even may be!

Now you know why people want to become “civil servants.” The pension check just keeps coming. No need to save, just live within your tax funded means.
