SHTF Self Education Series ~ From the Library: A Review of “Civil War Two”

In 1996, Thomas Chittum published an interesting book that offered a glimpse of a theoretical future America.  In 2016, a mere 2 decades later, it is illuminating and quite revealing to look at where we were when the book was released, and where we are today.  What we are yet to be is a unfinished question.  Based upon analysis of trends and a knowledge of human organization through history, Chittum provides a logical explanation for what he forecast.  While I am not 100% sympatico with his vision of the future, you must give kudos to the man for how close he called it 20 years ago.

Author’s personal copy, Amazon photo was too grainy for my quality standards.

Although the book is somewhat dated in the fine points of numbers, demographics and the like, if Chittum went to Vegas with the odds as he predicted the outcome, he’d have the wealth of Croesus.

I always believed that the book was prophetic, after 60 years you can see the chess pieces moving into place.. interesting times ahead.

I am so convinced of interesting times ahead I have already tried and failed to get a local group of Oath Keepers together – herding cats.

My personal prep is wide, deep, and continuous as I prepare for armed to the teeth self-sufficiency for my people (all family) on my Last Stand.

Its coming…I don’t know exactly what or when but I’m getting ready.

Well I am over here in Wayne county not to far from the ENC shooting range. If you ever want to expend some lead at the 100 yard bowling pins and exchange a few rants over a Mt. Dew shoot me a line. Cheers!

Joe,

I’m in southern Granville county…have a 50 yard range on my place and more rants then I know what to do with.

My reference to herding cats was my repeated attempts to connect 7 vets in my immediate area as an Oath Keeper group but couldn’t get most of them to show any real interest. I was just looking for a like minded tribe and solid patriots who believe in and will defend the Constitution when (not if) TSHTF.

I have to warn you…I was born in Penn., raised in New Jersey, but grew up in Vietnam (Marine Grunt). However, in my birth defense among my Revolutionary War Flag collection in my barn I have a close to my heart sign that says: Yankee by Birth – Rebel by Choice.

I’ve read your posts…I suspect we are two branches from the right side of the tree…every pun intended, how about lunch?

Mark….Copperheads are always appreciated so don’t let the fact God didn’t bless us all with a birth in Dixie we take comfort in the fact many come to the cause by reason.

My willingness to train may exceed my experience but I am always looking for an opportunity to meet serious minded individuals for training, practice, and discussion. While the range down here runs from 200 down to individual pistol lanes, 50 yards is better than no yards.

It looks like you are about 2 hours away. I’ll repost next week and maybe we can set up that lunch. Lookin forward to it.

I got out of the Northeast ASAP and have never looked back. An old friend from HS I hadn’t seen in 30 years who I looked up reminded me of how I was talking about heading south in the 60’s…and I did.

I’ve lived in Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, Florida and North Carolina (here the last 23 years).
I am a serious unabashed, unashamed, outspoken traditional Conservative/patriot/Constitutional Originalist (inspired by Barry Goldwater’s book the Conscience of a Conservative as a teenager, William F. Buckley’s TV show Firing Line (and his writings), and the Gipper.

Building a self-sufficient homestead/compound on 14 acres and hunkered down for the 4th quarter.

Pick out a place half way in-between for a lunch (anytime) and I have no doubt we can coordinate the defense of the Republic.
