One of the tenets in George Orwell’s 1984 was “slavery is freedom”. Michelle Obama yesterday told our children that higher education is freedom. According to CNNMoney:

The average debt load for the class of 2012 was $29,400, according to a report released Wednesday by the Institute for College Access & Success’ Project on Student Debt.

What is slavery if not being indebted to someone? Slavery started through indentured servitude:

a person who signs and is bound by indentures to work for another for a specified time especially in return for payment of travel expenses and maintenance

The first slave “owner” (Anthony Johnson) in the colonies was black. The analogies to our situation today are self-evident. A two-tiered system of justice, the promise of freedom and the reality of being an indentured servant. In North Carolina, 59% of college graduates have outstanding student loans to the federal government. With an U-6 unemployment rate of 16%, the destruction of jobs under Obamacare and a government whose goal is to enslave the people with debt and taxes, the land of the free has become an oxymoron.

Michelle Obama Pitches Student Aid: ‘Almost Everyone Is Eligible’

“Almost everyone is eligible for some form of financial aid, and all you have to do to access that aid is fill out this one little form. It’s so simple,” First lady Michelle Obama told students at a suburban Washington high school on Wednesday.

The form is FAFSA — the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

“[T]hrough FAFSA, the Department of Education provides more than $150 billion every year in low-interest loans, in grants that you don’t have to pay back, and work-study programs that can help cover your educational expenses,” Mrs. Obama said.

She equated higher education with freedom:
