As for the spouse not being onboard with prepping. A lot of people are in denial even with all this crazy BS going on. There is a book, or series of 10 books called 299 Days written by Glen Tate. In the book the wife wasn’t on board with the whole idea of prepping. Normalcy bias, it effects everybody. You have to work your way thru it. There ain’t no going back to the way it was. Well, maybe but there will be a lot of bloodshed before it happens.

Good book series.
Older people refuse to prep incl me because things were thrown out or donated after y2k, incl water purifiers and other camping equip. etc. Money wasted. Creates house clutters. People now dead horded stuff in the early ’80’s all for nothing. Heirs threw everything out.
That looks like a great place to be a kid. Reminds me of rural Virginia when I was a boy.
