T.L. Davis: Facebook the Ignorant Tyrant

Facebook has decided to start censoring “hate speech.” I cannot think of an issue that so well illustrates the value of the Constitution.

Now, to be honest, Facebook is a commercial enterprise and has every right to censor it’s content. Just as its subscribers have every right to find some other social media outlet that has a better grasp of the necessity of the public discourse, which, by nature, must be free from restriction.

But, what Facebook has decided is that it wants to control the debate, allowing one side to freely express itself and restricting the other side. It has chosen to be a megaphone rather than a telephone. It wants to allow others to speak to us, but will not allow us to speak to them. To me, that is a really poor business model, but that is what they have chosen to do. It is a poor business model, because if they were intellectually honest, they would wind up disposing of nearly all of their accounts save for the Mother Teresas of the world.

Facebook -- the virtual land of narcisism; home of the (progressive) freaks, land of the depraved.

In a virtuous society, Facebook (and most of it’s peer websites) would be unable to exist. And that is before you inject the stifling, heavy-handed and one-sided SJW (Social Justice Warrior) mentality.

Facebook is a virtual temple to the glorified self -- a digital edifice of idolatry for the egos of those whose egos are already to big and important to leave space fo others with a different moral fiber, or a different concept of decency and respect.

I deleted my facebook account six years ago, as well as several other ‘social media’ accounts. I had been saying that I was going to do so since early 2008, but family and friends keep begging me not to. Eventually, my sense of moral imperative overcame the pleading of those who did not yet see the light, and my last post was a searing rebuke of Zuckerberg and the entire masturbatory phenomena of “living an online life”.

The may be able to censor your ‘social media’ feed and the lamestream “press”; but they cannot silence the discussions being had all over this nation, by men determined to fulfill their duty to protect and provide for their families, and to preserve their communities, no matter what comes.

I have often wondered why folks of a like mind do not start their own something similar to Facebook. Anyone willing and able to educate me on the subject, as long as small words are used, would have my appreciation.

By the way, David I have been remiss in expressing my appreciation for this enjoyable, interesting, and enjoyable site, your efforts, as well as allowing me to post.

IOU a single malt. One per hand.

Cheers!
