I’ve been watching some of these drone video’s for a while on a russian telegram site. It is horrific…
Yes, this is absolutely the future of warfare. $150 drone w/ a 5 dollar hand grenade… The bigger one’s retail for about $1500 and can carry a modified warhead (e.g. 2-3 kg’s explosive, enough to kill a $50 million dollar M1-Abrams). They are literally putting credit card account numbers on the website asking people to send money so they can buy more drones… Might want to buy one for yourself! The intel is priceless.
Want to make a million dollars on a government contract? Invent a man portable jamming system. Which ultimately is where this will go. Anti-drone measures are already robust enough to the point they’ve developed wire-guided drones to combat the countermeasures.
I’ll just keep stockpiling birdshot and checking the pattern of my chokes.

This poor guy could have used a .12 ga.

Autonomous drones are the future. They can’t be jammed.

Yes they can. While the operators’ signal may not matter in the case of an automated mission, the craft still requires geospatial data to pilot itself. GPS, Magellan, and GLONASS are all relatively weak signals. They can be jammed or spoofed to provide false location data.

Though more difficult, and requiring more power, it is also possible to directly interfere with the drone’s electronics through microwave induction. Such a device can be built using multiple klystrons from old microwave ovens, and a homemade feedhorn/dish.

GPS jamming in use right now in the Poland/Belarus border area. Widely effective from reports.
