Texas is a nice place to visit, it’s a massive area of land and it’s amazing people can be different from one city to the next. Great steak houses, but of course you expect that from steer state.
In the film Full Metal Jacket (1987), Gunnery Sergeant Hartman is known for his line: “only steers and queers come from Texas and you don’t look much like a steer to me, so that kind of narrows it down!” Did Texas really have this reputation as a “queer” state or was it just some Hollywood baloney?
