The House Star Chamber According to Amy

Here is my response left as a comment to Amy:

Really. How can we question what happens in secret meetings that are not within Congressional guidelines? Since you have not seen or read his testimony, how can you not question these proceedings? Democrats are a national disgrace for turning the House into a star chamber.

I keep asking: Whatever became of the Constitutional mandate for open courts, open accusations, and the right of the accused to confront his accusers? Is Congress exempt from those requirements? The silence is deafening.

They keep begging for a civil war; they might get one.

This email was found circulating among Amb Bill Taylor’s West Point classmates:

My understanding is that Pompeo suggested Bill when Trump fired Obummer’s woman Ambassador. Pompeo may have thought Bill was reliable, a fellow West Point graduate and former George W. Bush Ambassador to the Ukraine. But if Pompeo and staff had dug deeper they could have spotted his Never Trumper views.

Note that in international relations, quid pro quo is reality. All Presidents make decisions influenced by their own domestic political interests. It is not an illegal “abuse of power” as President, because that is merely how Presidential power is exercised. Those against ANY action can always claim it was a presidential abuse of power. Most decisions have a murky mix of competing issues that influence Presidential decisions. Domestic and personal political interests are ever present. This is the fact that Bill, having a top rank in our Class academic standing should have quickly recognized, and more importantly, accepted. Bill said a quid pro quo was “crazy”. He did not say it was illegal…. if he questioned it, why didn’t he communicate that to Pompeo instead of fellow Ambassador Sondland?? Or was he content to sit in the cat-bird’s seat watching and waiting to jump in on a side that he could chose later……??
