The threat from above for preppers and home owners

Been there done that……responded to a brush fire adjacent to residential area. After it was put out, we scoured the scene for the cause. The point of origin was at the base of a power line pole, where we found fragments of one of the power line ceramic insulators. For whatever reason, one of the insulators had failed, fell to the ground, and ignited the dry leaves and grass which had collected around the pole.
