These numbers strain credulity for at least two reasons:
- During recent casualty exchanges, the numbers have been lopsided in the other direction, with Ukraine handing over the remains of fewer than 50 Russian troops while receiving the remains of hundreds or over a thousand of their soldiers in return.
- Russia’s combat troops tend to be well-paid volunteers, while Ukraine has had to resort to grabbing men off the street to fill its military’s ranks. If Russia were really losing 14x as many men as Ukraine (as Trump’s figures suggest), one would figure military-age Russian men would be hiding from conscription squads, rather than casually walking around Moscow, enjoying a summer evening.
Lack Of Understanding Russia’s Position Explains It Too
Trump doesn’t seem to understand that Russia views the Ukraine conflict as existential, and as such, won’t deviate from its main terms: that Ukraine must be neutral, and not host NATO troops or weapons, and that it must be largely demilitarized, and that Ukraine recognize Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea and the four oblasts it annexed. So, as Professor Mearsheimer summarizes in the video clip embedded below, there’s really no deal to be made with Russia: either we agree to their terms, or the conflict gets settled on the battlefield.

Reminds me of Trump believing and promoting Operation Warp Speed.
David DeGerolamo
Exactly the same weakness he had last administration. Surrounded himself with swamp critters who fed him bad intel. For a smart guy, he is really fricking stupid sometimes. I think its his boomerism. He can’t let go of certain paradigms. How he still trusts ANYONE is beyond me.
Why not consider another possibility? Why not decide to stop making excuses for him? Why not change course and decide that he’s in on it? How many more topics will the few remaining MAGA faithful give him a pass on? Aren’t they tired of saying he’s getting bad advice from evil people?
I’m at the point to think MAGA is pure bullshit. The Trump team is running around in circles and accomplishing NOTHING, while the demo-pricks keep finding ways to circumvent every socalled MAGA thing Tump pushes out. Until some of the criminals from the previous administrations are arrested and executed, Trump and his lame-o crew are going to continue to push bullshit out to us. Oh, and he might just might be dumb enough to start something bad with with Russia.
Five days till deadhand, ooops I mean deadline.
The same old, same old is yet repeating. Trump literally believes the last briefing that he receives with the least amount of effort, reading or research on his behalf. So–TPTB go to him yet once again with a huge PowerPoint presentation, skewed massively in favor of Neo-Con goals and objectives… and naturally he believed it. He fell for it once again, like he did with the Covid-Hoax shite, which it you didn’t notice, he held tightly on to even into his last presidential campaign, that is until someone literally threw a cold bucket of water into his face and straightened him out.
So now we are escalating into a hot war with Russia–a war which cannot be won. A war which will literally kick America’s teeth out. A war which will assuredly fill out VA hospitals with throngs of desperately wounded service men and women for years to come. Europe will be reduced into a cauldron of nuclear dustbins–as well as a few major cities, most of our port facilities and vital military bases here in North America–before we call it quits. But this is what many people here are spanking their monkeys over now. The want to finally deliver that death blow to Russia for some reason–which will never happen to that country that spans over 11 times zones. Let’s hope that the Christian-Imperialist types do not get their Armageddon.
Absolutely. Even still, it baffles me that Trump is so blind to the reality of the situation in Ukraine, and that he is apparently to high on his own supply in thinking we can either persuade Russia to back down with threats, or that we can defeat them militarily. Both are the notions of damned fools, the latter even more so than the first.
And in continuing down this line of destructive stupidity, he only reinforces the idea that Russia is the “good guy”, at least in doing what is right for Russia and for Russians. Is there anyone who can make the case the the US continuing to be involved in antagonizing Russia and blowing unfathomable amounts of money on that lost cause is good for America, and Americans? No, of course there isn’t, outside of those who profit handsomely form all the graft and waste that is endemic to all modern US military misadventures from Vietnam onward.
We, as citizens of AINO get nothing but debt, damage to our reputation and perception on the world stage, and at the rate things are going, actual large scale physical destruction from military actions brought on by “our” government picking these stupid fights. It is all downside for us, while for Russia, it is quite literally a battle for the sovereignty and survival of their country, instead of being carved up under the boot of the “rules based international order” imposed by the FUSA and EU..

You have to understand that Trump operates in a literal bubble. He’s like in a Logan’s Run type of information dome, controlled by his chief of staff and that by others in the cabinet. He does not hang about Tucker Carlson, or chat daily with Steve Bannon–and especially he has zero access to Colonel McGregor. The people around him ruthlessly control the flow in information into Trump. This rings true for military advisors–who are all ex-multi-star Mo-Mo’s who’s heads are in the globalist toilets. You can tell merely by his recent comment about Russian casualties–he’s being fed shite straight from the propaganda desks of the CIA and Ukrainian intelligence. Stick someone in a clean, well-kept uniform in front of Trump and have this person deliver a cogent 4 minute pitch–and you can make Trump believe anything you want him to believe. Case in point–the Covid Hoax with these science egg-heads like Faucci. What Trump needs to do is to have a good long conversation with Tucker Carlson and Colonel Mcgregor this week to straighten out his mind. Again, the man is being played very hard with drastic consequences this time.
It would have to be either as you describe, or that he is, in fact, an active enemy of the US. What other explanations are possible? The thing is, I can believe he is in a bubble so tightly constructed that he really doesn’t have a clue, and yet never having operated in an setting like that myself, I find it very difficult to comprehend such a “sealed system”. Especially when Trump has had enough of a clue at various times to verbally convey ideas that make actual sense, yet almost always fails to follow through on them.
Do these moments of clarity just fall out of his geriatric brain, so that the ideas behind them vanish like a fart in the wind? The guy should be cogent enough to eventually think to himself, “wait a minute, all this stuff we’re doing runs counter to the positions I clearly espoused nft 6 months ago. Maybe all the people around me are disloyal morons?”
Technically it started with OBAMA’S coup of the Ukraine government in 2014 (aided by Biden, the CIA, and others).
I believe Trump is WEF! All the elite said join us or we will make you homeless. Just saying!!!!!
Trump’s comment to losses, he’s a fool if he believes what he’s bring told by his circle.
Did he have a stroke or something? I would be afraid to make such an obviously false statement. It’s laughable, especially when Ukraine ran out of soldiers to draft and were drafting people with Down Syndrome.
