UC DAVIS MEDICAL CENTER TREATING PATIENT FOR POSSIBLE EBOLA

The Sacramento County Health Department has confirmed that one patient is being treated for possible Ebola at UC Davis Medical Center.

Authorities said UC Davis Medical Center has activated their Ebola Response Unit.

“UC Davis, identified by the California Department of Public Health as a priority hospital to treat confirmed Ebola patients, is fully prepared to safely assess and treat the patient if necessary in accordance with guidelines established by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” the hospital said in a statement.

The patient, who recently traveled to West Africa, was at the Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, but was transferred to the U.C. Davis Medical Center, which is specifically equipped to care for patients suspected of having or diagnosed with Ebola as part of the public health department’s preparedness plan.
