I am a good bit skeptical.
The cartels are laying low….for now. But they know that eventually the pendulum will swing back, the left will regain power and it will be safe for them to come back out of the shadows.
Don’t worry, the CIA will pick up the slack.
The Mex government is doing this for show--as Trump is putting the screws on their country economically. Slam them with 25% tarrifs and it kicks a couple legs out from their table. The big question is--how long with this last? Are these cartel-types being sacrificed for show? Are the real power movers of the cartels laying low and waiting to strike? TJ and Ensenada used to be a hangout for me and the spouse--but not for the last 13 years due to the outright, open violence.
