We invite you to meet with us on Monday evening, May 20th at 7 pm for a discussion about how to acquire water in the event of a disaster. The average person can survive for only three or four days without water. What can be done to obtain water if there is no electricity for a week or more?
This is the question we will try to answer as we share information about how we can acquire water using unconventional means in the event of a long term power outage. There will be no charge for attending this meeting and refreshments will be served.
Shiloh Baptist Church is located at 2150 Jones Chapel–Shiloh Road Danielsville Georgia.
If you would like to attend this meeting or if you would like more information about this meeting, please contact Pastor Guest at 706-783-5942.
I wish I could go!
e.g., how long can we store well water in glass jars?
If you are concerned, you can “can” the glass jars. Water can be stored for a long time and any impurities or bacteria can be removed by distillation. If the water has bacteria, they will die due to lack of nutrients and/or light. UV light will also kill bacteria by causing thymine/cytosine dimers. The best course of action is to have access to a well that does not need an electrical pump: hand pump or artesian well. Keep in mind that a gallon of water is 8.34 lbs plus the container. 5 lbs of water could easily be 45 lbs which is a consideration if you have to carry water up a hill (or even a short level distance) in the future.
