What you are calling the “first” was a war to stop secession. There was NO desire on the part of the south to take over anything. They simply wished to leave. The next one (coming very soon from the looks of things) will be neighbor against neighbor, with no “Mason-Dixon” line delineating one side versus the other. Sad, since the real enemy has always been the federal government (for all of us).
Those who win the wars, write the history books. The south paid over 70% in taxes yet made up only 30% or so of the population. They tried to rectify this through “voting” for years before they LEGALLY decided to secede. Lincoln was a tyrant, who tried to save face by later claiming it was about slavery. NEWSFLASH, the north had slaves too. It was about states rights vs the federal government.
The emancipation proclamation did not apply to slaves in the North or certain parts of the South. The Fugitive Slave laws were enforced in the North after the “proclamation” was issued. Since the South was not a part of the United States after secession, the North had no jurisdiction to issue laws impacting another country. But no one cares about this in today’s world. They people who promote the slavery argument in the War of Norther Aggression are too busy promoting child sex slavery or ignoring the enslavement of all Americans through massive federal spending and taxes.
I’ve tried to convince countless people on this but am met with a blank stare. Indoctrination centers work quite well unfortunately.
