Social Security is a supplement to retirement and was not intended to be used for full retirement. People do not receive their full supplement at 65. I did not retire; I went Galt. And I work everyday except Saturday.
As for Biden, most if the time he does not even know he is president. He receives a large salary, benefits and 10% as the big guy for destroying the country. Any criminal would work under these conditions, even ones with dementia.
If I had not been forced to pay into social security, I would have more money than I will ever get from this Ponzi scheme.

Dear Ben. This system was forced on me from the womb. I would have been much better off without it. However forcing me to cough up hundreds of thousands over 48 years resulted in my retirement at 63. I intend to live a very long time hopefully recouping my money.
how did taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from you result in your retirement? not everyone is quite so fortunate, through no fault other than circumstances. kids today don’t even stand that chance.
I said that I went Galt, not that I retired. I could easily live on my savings alone for the rest of my life. Especially if I did not have to pay taxes and medicare costs. Medicare B is deducted before I receive social security. And I still pay for additional medical coverage beyond A and B. Fortunately for me, I am in good health. If I had not paid into social security, I would be receiving more of a return on the money I was forced to send in.
After Being told I made too much for a Covid check I retired. I went Galt.

At the end of this month I have been retired two years. I retired a month shy of 57 I cannot collect social security yet but I will most likely take it at 62 when I can.
And I would have been much better off have I not had to pay into social security since I was 14 years old.

He has no concept of real work, and the toll it takes on people particularly in the trades. I routinely see millwrights, pipefitters, carpenters, roofers, farmers, road crews and any other number men whose bodies are broken by the time they are in their early fifties because they worked until they couldn’t. They had SS and other taxes stolen from them, raised their families, and were a part of making this country function. They did not have the luxury of getting paid to sit in a comfy chair and spew verbal vomit for living.
Let’s see little Benny Boy and others like him tow the line that real men did for decades, then let’s see little Benny continue until the age of 65 or 70 doing that kind of work. Let’s see little Benny have his money stolen and be OK with it at age 70.

One of the reasons the government gave for starting social security was that they needed to open job opportunities for young people by getting older workers to retire. And the first European leader to start a retirement system was asked why he did it. He replied that people who have something to live for (retirement) are easier to control.

Full retirement for social security is 67 years for people born in 1960. If you retire later, your benefit increases. As we all know, inflation is reducing the quality of life for most Americans.
The income tax was supposed to be only for the wealthy. Things change, which also means the US cannot possibly meet all of it’s financial obligations. Whether it goes with a whimper or a bang is all that remains to be seen.
The original income tax was to be capped at 10%. Congress removed the cap because they “thought” a 10% income tax would never be implemented.

He is right in that God never mentions retirement, with the one exception of the Levite priests from having to slaughter animals for so long! Social Security is a man made system of enticement, and now that we’re used to it and paid into it, they dare Not take it away!
I paid into my SS fund for 40 years. And like all other people who paid into it I didnt have a choice. You bet im going get as much of my money back. Work till you drop is your choice. Not me.
Martha, the fact that By LAW they took money from our paychecks to fund this Social Security means you and I EXPECT some return.
However, folks need to understand something. Inflation is the stealth tax that makes ALL retirement pensions, social security and all that suspect.
Thus, I will continue to work as long as I am able. FIXED INCOME in an Inflationary Economy is BAD NEWS. My Father in law recently passed. He retired with a “Good Bank Pension”, worked some more until Social Security kicked in at 70, My Mother in Law also worked and drew SS at 65 or so.
But as they lived into their 90’s those “Good Triple Pension” wasn’t up to paying the bills, ever increasing taxes and HEALTH CARE Costs. Their last 20 years they lived in my walk out basement apartment for their “share” of the electric bill.

The concept of retirement… especially as a widely accepted societal state is a very recent notion. It’s only been a widespread expectation for the past century or so and ONLY in America and Europe for the most part. In most countries and societies the idea of retiring… especially at a specific age is an alien concept.
The concept of a democratic republic was a brief reality. No society can have the ideological, racial, religious, economic, educational, etc. differences in a geography as large as the CONUS and expect it to work. Our fate was inevitable from day one. Smoke’em while you got em.
