Nice. We must remember the moral of the story is that Captain Picard was ready to give in… to accept a lie as truth just to make the pain stop. To confirm to his captor that there were five lights when there were only four… he was willing to cheat his own mind.
Everyone eventually breaks. What are we willing to do to prevent ourselves from arriving at that point? What are we willing to do for our group, our town, our nation, to interdict the enemy before we are faced to make that choice?
We WILL be forced to make that choice.
To use another Star Trek reference, calling the rioters, protestors, would be a line out of the episode Darmok…. You know… Darmok and Gilad at Tengara….
That brings back memories! I remember recording TNG back in the mid 1980’s from broadcast TV on VHS tape so we could watch and re-watch them. You could get 6 episodes on one tape! Our first VHS recorder had a remote… that connected to the player with a cord. Now you put the entire series on a flash drive. Ask me how I know that…
