California’s recent decision not to pay back some $20 billion borrowed from the federal government to cover unemployment benefits during the pandemic will fall on the shoulders of employers, according to experts.

Hey, I worked for a small four person wholesale operation (Including me). It was run by a married couple. From 2008 until 2020, I built and ran their customer service process, played receptionist, showed them that they were getting screwed by their supplier on ocean shipping, established an LTL damage claim process, and tracked savings and recoveries in the thousands, and of course helped out in the warehouse, got office supplies when they were too busy… you know how it goes. Oh, and I did it all while part time, getting no benefits and no raises after the initial one to get me to stay.
I tried over the 12 years to help them understand that they needed to get involved in politics, or issues pertinent to their business, or anything to help push back the nightmare. They were both immigrants chasing the American dream, and they did NOT give a shit about this country really. They moved here to make a buck.The idea of civic duty, or calling a political office and voicing their opinion, was completely foreign to them.
As a temp, I have worked for many people like them off and on over 40 years. Owning a business is now so complicated that it is like a two year degree’s worth of information. But the business owners never push back against the regulatory burden, the ridiculous taxation, etc. They just go along to get along and in the end, when the Covid 19 lock down power play put a million of them out of business – I didn’t really give a shit.
The small business community has had a 30 year wage holiday courtesy of our bought off congress. The minimum wage is now 1/3rd of what it takes to live a minimum life. If Congress had allowed it to increase with inflation, the cost of everything else would have adjusted along with it.
NOW? We’re f-ed up big time, and a communist takeover is the train coming down the tracks… and the small business community helped to put us right where we are today.

I clung to the idea I was a little crazy, not off my rocker, but maybe the tinfoil was a little too tight – s’ok, so long as you don’t go postal and kill a bunch of people, no harm, no foul, right? I did not want to think, let alone actually believe (in my frontal cortex) that this was happening, actually taking place. So you buy canned food and stack ammo, not a crime, its your paycheck. Kids have a roof and clothes, etc. If it makes me feel better spending my free time and money on a hobby that intersts me… right?

I no longer sit incredulously in doubt about what I am observing. I only question wether I have the future mapped correctly. Direction is without question, distance and timing are the unknowns. My hope is still alive we will stand up before its too late, but already the bloodshed that will have to happen is unprecedented.

Back in the 80s when I lived in the commiecalif, I started up a small contracting business, I first had to get the state approved licensee to contract in the state. It is no easy task starting a business, advertising, calling businesses, went door to door handing out flyers. I don’t remember anyone doing anything to help get it off the ground, if I did not work I did not get paid. Obama the sodimite did not help me pay the bills, the communists have completely shut down what used to be a great state to live in, now it is nationwide.
