A Warning From South Africa

  Random Thoughts from An Immigrant

I was blessed with the opportunity to settle in the US about 15 years ago.  The road to permanent residency and citizenship was fraught with frustration and financial costs.  That typed, I thank God each day for bringing me here and I also thank Him for my citizenship, The Constitution and the friends that have been placed in my path.

I would like to get a few frustrations off my chest.

I was born and raised in South Africa, a wonderful country with countless natural resources, friendly and hospitable people, stunning wildlife and breathtaking scenery.  Growing up, I saw the twilight years of the Apartheid era and that was indeed a dark time in the country’s history.  I was one of countless whites who voted for change and with Mandela’s release and the ANC taking power in 1991, there was a feeling of hope and excitement that this new chapter in the country’s history would have the people working together to build on what was a solid infrastructure.

Well, sadly as the years passed, the ANC proved that a leopard does not change its spots.  Government corruption grew, and certain elements within the ANC leadership clearly stated that the current generation of whites had to be punished for all past evils that had occurred.  Crime exploded and although petty crime was and is still plentiful, violent crime became the order of the day.  Vehicle hijackings, brutal gang rapes, home invasions during which the occupants were often beaten, shot, stabbed, raped and murdered, military style cash in transit heists and then stories of brazen government corruption are daily news headlines.

I realized that if these conditions were to prevail, this was not a place where I would choose to raise a family.  Fast forward to my arrival in the US.  Although the journey over the last few years has had many difficulties, I have been embraced as a legal immigrant.  I have met many down to earth, liberty minded people.  That typed, I have wanted to assimilate and I have no desire or need to try and stamp my previous culture on this country that I now consider home.

This is a phenomenal country and Divine intervention definitely had a profound impact on the founding.  The past several years have been really concerning as I have had first-hand experience with the racial divide that is constantly being fueled over here. Certain elements actually make a living by constantly stirring hatred between black and white people.  Calls for monuments to be removed, calls intimating that the flag, national anthem and even names of places be changed is not a surprise to me.  You may ask why?  Well this is the exact same strategy that has been carried out over the last several years in South Africa.  Province names, city and town names, airport names and yes, the flag and national anthem had to change.

History cannot be erased. One has to learn from it so that past mistakes do not take place again.  I will echo the sentiment of others who note that in order to destroy a nation, one part of the strategy needs to involve editing the history.  Once this is achieved, destroy any sense of sovereignty by embracing ‘multiculturalism’ to the extent that any sense of nationalism is considered taboo.  This strategy is effective and it is being implemented with absolute abandon in the US.

I will type on and let the readers know that while the future of SA played a key role in my decision to leave, it was evident that the absence of a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms made that decision quite painless.  There are many of my fellow Americans who have no idea how blessed we are to have the Bill Of Rights. Let me simplify things and state what many learned individuals have mentioned on countless occasions:  2A is the foundation of liberty.  The Founders were schooled in English Law and they had an intimate understanding that the right to keep and bear arms dates back to Sixteenth Century Europe.   Those politicians and proponents of the nanny system who preach that ‘a well-regulated militia’ refers to the National Guard, are only trying to deceive those who they wish to control.  At the time when 2A was written, the concept of a ‘National Guard’ was not even a figment of the human imagination.  These tyrants need to read writings of Aristotle, Machiavelli, Beccaria and others on a right which is God given.  I read once that if you want to know what is in a man’s heart, just ask him what his thoughts on private firearms ownership are-a real simple litmus test.

So all the calls for increased gun laws?  THEY DO NOT WORK.  South Africa’s laws have become so draconian. Law abiding citizens who wish to defend themselves have to apply for a license for a specific firearm.  When purchasing ammunition, the license for the firearm in question has to be shown.  The purchase is entered into a register and the amount of ammunition purchased and owned is also restricted.  The quantity of firearms owned is restricted and although in certain instances, such as a sport shooter, additional licenses may be granted, the process is tedious and frustrating.  I provide this trivia because, the criminals are not impacted and have access to whatever the black market can offer or whatever they can steal.  ‘Common sense gun laws’ is intentionally a vague and open statement because those who despise liberty need to be able to move the goal lines so that the incremental erosion of our rights can continue.

Anyone who talks about increasing gun laws in the name ‘gun safety, sensible gun ownership, saving the life of just one child’  is either ignorant or a tyrant.  Criminals never ever obey any laws.  Case closed.  2A does not grant ‘We the People’ a right to keep and bear arms.  It ACKNOWLEDGES the right.

In conclusion, as a proud naturalized citizen, a few thoughts:

  1.  As a fully assimilated citizen, I expect all other immigrants to do likewise.  I wanted to live in America.  Living as an American.  Period!  If you do not like this country, leave and go back to where you came from.  No one is forcing you to be here.
  2. The Constitution and Bill Of Rights is not a living document.  It is not a flexible guideline. I will not tolerate anyone who thinks otherwise.
  3. The Second Amendment is non-negotiable.  If you cannot understand this, I will have to think that you do not embrace liberty or a respect for a right that comes from God.  For the Atheists reading this, I am sure that each one of you also has an inbred desire to protect yourself and your families from harm.  You may not believe that the desire is God given. That is fine.  The desire to protect ourselves from harm is wired into our DNA. No politician has the right to infringe on this.  We are not subjects.
  4. History cannot be erased. Learn from it and try not to make the same mistakes now and in the future.

In conclusion, I am proud to call the US home and I will do everything in my power to respect and protect the Supreme Law of the Land.  May God have mercy on the United States of America.

Gavin

Speak for yourself, you don’t pass judgement on anyone! For the sake of one man, Lot, Sodom was spared until Abraham could retrieve him, for the sake of one man, Noah, soul life was spared from destruction, and for the sake of one man, Jesus Christ, the entire world was saved from the wrath that is to come. In the last days, God has reserved unto himself a remnant, who have not corrupted themselves with the things of this world. Be a part, or not, it makes no difference to me, but God didn’t appoint you to pass judgement.

For myself, Gavin, thank you for an insightful and informative article, and thank you David G. for providing a platform. God bless you and the household of saints this holiday week.

You are making some assumptions in your comment but you make a good point. Many people (not me) voted for Obama based on his promises of Hope and Change. As Trump told Black voters, what do you have to lose by voting for me? Voting has consequences. Especially when people want to believe. Revolutions have consequences as George Orwell found out. All politicians lie. Trump is an exception and I believe God did send him at this time. I do not think he will be enough but he has given us more time.

I believe the assault on our culture and world history is based on keeping people ignorant so that we repeat the process of entering bondage. So who is at fault if the people vote themselves into slavery? And make no mistake, that is what we are facing in this country. We know who the enemy is. We know what their end game is. We know that the Republican party will not provide an adequate defense to prevent the upcoming civil war.

Learn. Learn how to defend your community. Learn how to survive without electricity. Learn how to procure food and water. Learn effective sanitation practices. Learn field medicine and buy antibiotics. Most important: learn history so that you understand what is coming and how to prevent it or at worst case, survive it.

I was hopeful but perhaps ignorant. I am not perfect and I have learnt so much over the years. T that point in time, I was hopeful for the country of my birth and I was prepared to be positive. I am not going to go into my history. At that point I had no idea at all that I would ever have the opportunity to come to the US.

I am a realist and I hear your point. I made the decision based on what I knew then. I was positive and hopeful. With respect to your beliefs, God has His plan and I am thankful to be here for whatever He has in store for me.

I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. Be safe.

One of the reasons the US is collapsing now is that Americans think that decay will be stopped by becoming Fascists and Communists.

Americans think the US will be improved by expanding wars, increasing the debt, and adding more tyranny when the reason the USA is crashing is because the US has wars, is in debt, and has a police state.

Americans say that they love freedom, but then they turn around and say they need the government to give them free Obamacare, build a wall, protect the US from Yemen, wiretap their phones, arrest people for feeding the homeless, stop farmers from plowing fields, force people to get rid of dogs, ban vaping, and torture suspects.

Every country has the government it deserves.

“As a fully assimilated citizen, I expect all other immigrants to do likewise”

Hop off your high horse Gavin. You don’t have the right to tell anyone what to do. As a dual American/South African who lives in the United States, I respectfully tell you to buzz off. If people want to keep their culture, let them. Stop policing other people’s lives.
To anyone else reading this, especially immigrants, please know that not all South Africans are as racist as this (granted, I’m a mixed South African and not a white one, so that may be why)

Your points may be given more consideration if you had not played the race card.

Daniel, if you live in America, you’ve obviously left what’s left of South Africa because how the ANC has f_cked it up. Gavin is right, embrace America fully. What “culture ” does South Africa have that’s worth preserving?

David G, that is the problem. Why does David have to make a point that he is not a white South African? Here is something to chew on SA Dave: Why do black Americans have to say that they are ‘African American?’ If race is not an issue and you are a citizen of a country, you should be South African, American, British, Australian etc. I never insinuated that one has to forget their culture. All I meant was that as immigrants we cannot and should not try to change the culture of the country that we choose to settle in.

David, the commentator above, is a prime example of why such a racial divide exists. He actually has the audacity to state that he is not racist because he is of mixed race. Well David from SA, how do you know that I am not of mixed race? It is sad when your life outlook is tainted with the past. And do not ‘respectfully’ tell me to ‘buzz off ‘. Call it as it is. Your syntax smacks of someone who has a chip on their shoulder.
