Thanks, Dave! Great excerpt from Reinhold Niebuhr’s classic work. Those of us who have needed this prayer hold it dear. Besides, as I learned in War College; dead German dudes are much smarter than dead Greek dudes!

Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Wisdom is found outside of the Bible.

Niemöller was another religious figure who initially submitted before fighting the Nazis. I do what I am able: this blog, Appalachian Messenger and training. However, I must also be practical: I cannot change the evil that is the government of this country. I do believe that the Lord will punish this nation.

I pray for the courage to walk the path upon which the Lord has laid out for me.

my argument is that this man made it so easy for those to throw up their hands and surrender…

I meant the post as a personal thing. There are so few of us willing to stand up and fight that we have to pick our battles carefully. Anyone who believes that I have not stood up and will continue to stand up is wrong.

Don’t twist a simple post into a state philosophy.
