Yep. Unless, of course, you got a good horse.
As it looks more and more like we are moving toward instability, it is very good to be in my bug out location surrounded by a strong closed “have your back” community in a mild climate, low population, remote area on private roads. The community has proven itself many times by coming together to help each other, work on occasional group projects and take care of each other. A lot of talent within the community, working toward as much self-sufficiency as is possible, prepper minded. We offered private lots (sold out except for one), large RV sites, cabins, shelter cabin, and a cottage for those that don’t need a lot. The community garden works plus what is grown and sold by private lot owners. We are covering as many bases as we can.
Can we entertain ourselves on site, yes. The “pandemic” lockdowns proved we can and we remained mask free. Our extensive library has over 700 DVDs and it doesn’t take much solar to use them, over 700 books, pool table and growing in DVDs and books weekly toward 3000 DVDs and over 2000 books. A gym in and a sports court going in. Equestrian Center with horses. Off grid permaculture project with greenhouses, food foresting, on site horticulturist, bee keeper, chicken and duck area, community garden we just converted to raised beds, 58 in and growing now and adding more plus a greenhouse, contractor, auto and heavy equipment (if they run) mechanic, solar/off grid experts, those versed in farming/ranching, residents with knowledge of fiber arts including spinning and weaving.
It is called Intelligent Living and it is almost never too late to get started. Do something -- today! I keep preaching community for preppers. Annoying I know, important, yes.
Realistically most vehicles WILL function after an EMP event. What will suffer most is the power grid. Without power gas pumps don’t pump. When fuel runs out vehicles stop. Without power the entire country will go Mad Max ina matter of days. By the time power is restored…IF it’s restored, at least half and perhaps as much as 90% of the population will be dead.
Any travel will be done on foot or bicycle. There won’t be much travel. The roadways will be jammed. The roadways will be kill zones. If you think you’re going to go visit friends or relatives, you just don’t get it. Normalcy bias. All of your time will be spent fighting off criminals at your location. Example, in Miami, near the airport, the usual suspects roll old tires onto the expressway to stop the traffic. Then they go on the expressway and rob everybody. That’s what travel will be like. You will stay at home or you will die.
