I believe the sheriff would have been on solid Constitutional grounds prior to 1865. States Rights. Remember them? So as I watch the Blue States and Blue Cities lose their minds over Trumps actions, I kinda feel for them. If they want to live in a corrupt third world hell-hole, that’s their business, not mine, and they should be allowed.
But, but, but … the Yankees won the war. They determined that States Rights would no longer be tolerated. Everything has to be determined in DC. So I have little sympathy for the Blue people as the worm turns and their “rights” are abused. We lost the battle for state sovereignty in 1865.
