Because We Need A Laugh…

Seriously, the South is my home. When this country implodes (next week), the South will offer many advantages and opportunities that the rest of the country can only dream about. Pass the ribs, cornbread and sweet tea.

Yep. Not enough money in the world to make me leave the south. In fact, not enough to make me leave this little acre of paradise we have right here. The tornadoes aren’t that bad, and the bugs? Meh. July? August? Okay, so it’s a little warm. And humid. I have lived elsewhere. Oregon. Not enough money in the freaking universe to make me go back to that shithole. Only good thing about Oregon is that’s where I met my wife. And now we’re here. For nearly 40 years. For good. Yeah baby, ain’t leaving the south. Anyone who doesn’t agree? Well, bless their hearts.

I too am from Oregon and I am slowly working myself South. I am in South Dakota checking out the local scenes here and then hook up the travel trailer and mosey down to Arkansas first and then maybe Alabama. (I lived in Alabama for nine years) I haven’t decided where in the South to plant a tap root, much like a dandelion… I miss the true pulled pork and briskets and the sweet tea and people being sociable and friendly and waving at ya.

MY brother and I began austerities this weekend for the coming downfall. He made cornbread and I got the whole milk, which is all either of us can stand, and a mess of black-eyed peas. He slathered the real salted butter on the pieces and we ate the cornbread and milk right out of our glasses! I know that’s crude and we should have used a bowl, but hey, we used cloth napkins! Lived everywhere and just couldn’t get comfortable until I came back to the South.
