Has West Virginia not reviewed their history on how they became a state? There is a process that needs to be followed to make such a move. Check out NCS51.com which is presently happening today.
I would prefer the oppressed counties and cities become a separate state, which would add 2 pro-2A US Senators. But next to that, joining WV would be better than living under tyrants Gov. Northam, Senator Saslaw, and their ilk.
Under the Constitution, West Virginia is not a legal state. What if the two states joined back together and made the state Constitutional with new elections.

This entire idea is a dead letter for many reasons, including all the ones listed by the comments above. No need to re-hash them here. I’ll just add a new one.
The Spirit of divisiveness which rules the hearts of men in this country today will not allow for it. Period.
Personally, I would rather die than subjugate myself to the descendants of faithless deserters who broke from Virginia in the first place. To reward their faithlessness with fealty would be to dishonor my own ancestors and the ancestors of all my fellow Virginians as well.
Not to mention that W. Va. is no paragon of conservative virtue either. Manchin is a weasel of EPIC proportions, and yet is worshiped by the indigenous hillbillies as a god. “Never trust a West Virginian” is my motto, and it has served me well all my long life. I see no reason to change at this point.
If it comes to that, I’ll move to Alabama or Georgia. Monthly tornadoes would be preferable to that.
