I am living my life according to my belief that the economy has collapsed and the government is planning to start WWIII. That means the US dollar is worthless and I am buying supplies and other items necessary for this future.
- I visit the local feed store in Murphy, NC on a regular basis. I have noticed a large increase in feed supplies (they are storing feed in the parking lot) over what has been stored in previous years. I also noticed that the volume of customers has increased to the point that parking is now like bumper cars. People park as they want regardless of whether they are blocking other cars/trucks in place. It was so bad yesterday, a small truck from Florida parked in back of my truck as he bought 14 trees. I bought 5 fruit trees and I estimate that they will sell 200 trees in less than two days.
- I went to a nursery to look for more pecan trees. Any tree over 4 feet was over $100. The nursery’s parking lot was the busiest that I have ever seen.
- I have bought a complete set of replacement fluids and filters for my tractor. I went to the Kubota dealership to do the same for my excavator. Imagine my surprise when this large dealership had to order hydraulic filters to complete my order.
- Baby chicks are selling out at farm stores faster than Joe Biden can eat an ice cream cone.
I saw a message today that based on economic conditions, everyone should start acting like a “prepper”. The message should have said: Everyone who is over 50 should start acting as our grandparents. The rest can act as their great grandparents acted.
As reality is sinking in, I am glad to see that people are acting responsibly instead of cowering in fear. I do not know when we will stand up to the evil that has usurped our government but we can use this time wisely.

We noticed something similar with chicks. My parents went to the local feed store a few times, the line to get them formed hours before they opened. They would let a handful in at a time and folks were coming out with 40-50 chickens. They would run out before everyone could get any.
It seems to have slowed down and they’re now advertising “we have chicks”. I ordered some online that should hatch next week to bolster our flocks (we will have a total of about 18). It was real slim pickings for anything in stock and the availability calendars were showing nothing for the next several months.
Country boy will survive. In the desert southwest it is a somewhat different story. The Prius’ from San Diego, San Bernardino and Orange counties cannot carry the cargo that is needed for rural life, but those folks are well stocked on S.M.A.R.T. watches, White Claw, and canvas slip ons although considerable resources have been spent removing those “old” wood stoves to replace them with gas-forced air furnaces, and electric stoves-you know “for the environment”. The rest of us are ahead of the curve on poultry, feed and water catchment, firewood, shovels, hoes, spare fuel for the tractor, gloves and workboots. But we are FAR in the minority. Fortunately, dehydration will thin out most of the zombies when the collapse hits.
Hound, we are high desert southwest a couple of miles outside a town no bigger than a dirt clod. We also have noticed all the bright shinny Escalades, shiny Mercedies, and Tesla with California plates. Getting a well drilled up here is over a year and a half wait. I don’t think they will last long. If thrust doesn’t drive them away the wind up here will,
Sounds like some of them plan to take the elite lifestyle with them when they bug out. Nothing says “rich guy” to a furious mob like expensive cars.
Tesla in the high desert. Kinda like eating soup with a fork, but whatever. Haha.

Classic.
People still don’t realize the magnitude, nor how bad things will get.
I’ll have a little garden this year? Grow some salad stuff. Save on groceries. A few are thinking “how can I grow a years worth and put it up for my whole family?” Bit we are few and fsr between.
Good stash, I am impressed!
Years ago I bought lots of wheat and a hand grinder for my wife, so she could make flour, when her arms got bigger than mine from grinding; she said “I aint a gona grind no more” in her pretty good English. Looking at her arms I thought an electric grinder would be wise, now that is mostly true; the moral of the story is to get a powered grinder and a manual for a back up. Grinding all your wheat by hand is really hard!
I picked up a Wondermill Jr. Just grinding a few cups of flour will give you an intense work out. So, I ordered the attachment that goes to the 1/2″ drill. I got out the Milwaukee drill, and the side handle because trying to hold it with the trigger grip torqued my hands and arms, hard. I used the drill to do three cups of flour. Never before had I see the drill get HOT while using it. I think the thing could really use some gears to lessen the torque required. Granted it would take longer, but be much easier to turn.
The mill I bought was an Excalibur with a half horse motor, it worked great and saved my marriage. This was in the early eightys and I am not sure they are still around, but I wouldn’t get anything with less a half horse and I would probably get one with an external motor and pully drive, so the motor could be replaced.
We just got pecan trees delivered from https://www.starkbros.com/products/nut-trees/pecan-trees
If you’re thinking about nut and fruit trees, buy more than you need, and expect to wait awhile before they produce. In the meantime, keep increasing your stocks.
Our refrigerator died this week. I consider its a blessing,we can afford to replace it and it will buy us some years before it goes out again. One thing I don’t have to worry about. Take care,Allan
Just a short note:

They have a great selection on chicks and needed suppies at reasonable prices…for those who’re running into short supply in their a.o.
David,
Due to a family issue we had to relocate from Sylva to Mid Missouri. We miss our mountain home and it was a refuge for us after 30 yrs active duty in the USMC. Took us three years of hard work but we were just getting our little acre right. We were even starting to gain friends because you know, gaining trust and being ingratiated into the community up there isn’t something that happens over night. Now the reason we left is gone only after a year, so we have been diligently working on our home here to make it ready when the time comes. Sucks starting over and the people that bought our house there are reaping the benefits now I am sure. They came out of Charlotte. One thing that I have learned though that this is a marathon not a sprint. People can prognosticate about the downfall all they want but until then I will just keep being me, who is who my grandparents raised and they knew a thing or two about living in such times. Oh, great community center you built. I never got a chance to the see the inside but from the outside it looked squared away. I was down there taking my National Registry for paramedic. Yeah I know, from one high stress job to another, but portable career and always in demand, plus skill set!

This is probably best answered in a separate article. I have been attacked for organizing patriots and preppers since 2008. Some of these attacks were vicious to the point that I could have sued the individual. Based on the Bible, my philosophy has been to forgive these people UNTIL the SHTF event. At that point, the clean slate is over and I hold people accountable for their actions. Since I believe the SHTF event has already started, so has my slate.
I understand that the Bible says to forgive our brothers:
Matthew 18: 21-22 reads, Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.
Brothers possessed by demons are not to be forgiven. Evil must be fought and destroyed. Period.
1) my understanding of the Bible/Jesus’ instructions are: to forgive our brothers AS OFTEN AS THEY REPENT. how can we forgive them if they don’t repent/change their ways/acknowledge they have sinned? should we foolishly ‘forgive & forget’ & be attacked again, being blind? not prudent, nor required of us.
2) is there a difference between ‘our brothers’ & ‘our enemies’ – those who seek to destroy us?
3) the Lord’s prayer says ‘forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us’. ‘trespasses’ are INADVERTENT sins – ie. transgessing the law, but ignorantly. THOSE should be forgiven seventy times seven, because they are not INTENDING to do us harm. THAT is Christian.
4) most Christians do not understand these principles correctly, and so are TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF, & TRODDEN UNDERFOOT!
5) ‘be wise as serpents, but harmless as doves’!
(PS – I am not ‘harmless’ to evil!) – well, I suppose opposing/destroying evil is not actually ‘doing harm’…
Ditto………..
Outlier,
Great advice but hard to do,
I might pray to have the strength
to forgive/forget.
We do not have to forgive demons or people possessed by demons. Also check the true Bibical definition of brother. It makes it clearer that we do not have to forgive everyone.
