Obama in Apex, NC – A Centerpiece of Hypocrisy

The president will visit Apex today (September 14th, 2011)  to promote his latest tax and spend initiative. Raising taxes to create jobs is not a function of the government. This administration’s policy was “Never let a crisis go to waste”. This has been replaced with “Never let an opportunity for redistribution go to waste”.

The president is flying to Apex to showcase a company with 25 employees? That is 25 employees in the United States: Obama is not visiting their new 10,000 sq. ft. Costa Rican facility built in order to take advantage of lower labor costs. This also allows WestStar to reduce their US tax burden as most US corporations do to escape our high corporate tax burden. From the Daily Caller:

The owner of the company, Ervin Portman, is a local Democrat on the Wake County, N.C. Board of Commissioners. He donated $1,000 to Obama’s 2008 campaign. Portman and his wife together donated several thousand more to other Democratic candidates and the state Democratic party.

Will the hypocrisy ever end?

Obama will visit company with Costa Rica plant

President Obama will travel to North Carolina tomorrow to stump for the American Jobs Act and to make the case for his agenda in a key swing state. He’s visiting WestStar Precision, a very small company — it reportedly has 25 employees — that makes components for big aerospace companies.

Its site boasts:

Our new office and manufacturing facility in San Jose, Costa Rica, also has approximately 10,000 sq. ft. with similar equipment as the main office. This facility is designed for high volume production to support our international and domestic clients.

A spokesman for the company didn’t immediately respond to an inquiry.

UPDATE: The company began hiring in Costa Rica, the News & Observer reported in 2004, to “take advantage of low labor costs.”
