Coronavirus: US banks ready disaster plans

JPMorgan Chase and other large US banks are testing emergency systems in case the coronavirus disruptions

Large US banks have begun testing crisis measures in case of a broader coronavirus outbreak that prevents staff from going to work, banking sources told AFP.

JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and Citigroup have asked hundreds of workers to work from home as part of emergency preparedness.

“We are asking some employees to work from home over the next two weeks just so we can test systems and remote access,” said one person familiar with the process, characterizing the step as “typical contingency stuff.”

JPMorgan has undertaken tests at a disaster recovery site in London and two in the United States, in Brooklyn and the state of New Jersey, a source told AFP.

Citigroup has undertaken a similar process in London and New Jersey, while Goldman Sachs has done tests at a site in London.

“We have recovery sites and we continually test them,” said a Goldman Sachs spokeswoman. “As you can imagine, we are enhancing our testing in view of the coronavirus.”

The Federal Reserve can lower the discount rate (the reason the market went up on Monday) and they can bail out the banks with repo funds (the reason the market went up on Wednesday) but they cannot change reality. When the banks initiate contingency plans as outlined above, we are close.

This means the economic consequences of this pandemic will become apparent and the government’s incompetent response (don’t test, don’t tell) will be exposed. Congress cannot buy our way out of a pandemic by subsidizing a vaccine that does not exist.

We are living under a graveyard sky with an uncertain future. Unless we realize who really is in charge and follow His precepts.

SCOTUS: States Can Prosecute Illegal Aliens for Stealing American IDs

Identity Theft

States have the authority to prosecute illegal aliens for using stolen identities of American citizens to work illegally in the United States, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday.

In a 5-4 decision — with liberal Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan dissenting — the Supreme Court ruled against three illegal aliens who were prosecuted for stealing the identities of American citizens to work illegally in the state of Kansas.

Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Clarence Thomas, John Roberts, Samuel Alito, and Neil Gorsuch wrote in their majority opinion that states do have the authority to prosecute individuals for crimes that overlap with federal law.

I have two questions:

  1. Why would the Supreme Court be involved in this states’ rights issue?
  2. Why was the decision not unanimous?

How The Pandemic Crisis Will Probably Develop Over The Next Year

For a while now I have been hearing it said that Americans are “in a panic” over the coronavirus outbreak in the US, and that mainstream media outlets are “feeding the fear”.  This is an odd conclusion to come to and something worth noting, because the truth is mostly the opposite.  For the past couple of months the WHO, the CDC and even Donald Trump have been dismissing Covid 19 as nothing much to worry about.  The WHO actually still refuses to call it a pandemic even though the virus meets all of their own criteria.

Until recently the mainstream media was also been pumping out article after article on why Covid 19 is “no more dangerous than the flu”.  With the official death rate at 2.3% to 3% (changing by the week), the virus already has higher mortality than the average flu.  If we take into account the fact that multiple medical professionals within China have revealed (despite threats of punishment) that the Chinese government is hiding the true (and much higher) death and infection statistics, then the official data goes out the window.  We can’t even trust the infection numbers from the CDC in the US, because they been refusing to test most people unless they have recently traveled to China.

Because of government lies we have to assume that the crisis is more pervasive than we know.  And so far the average American is oblivious to it.

Solid Joys

Look to Jesus for Your Joy
By John Piper

“They do all their deeds to be seen by others. . . . They love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces and being called rabbi by others.” (Matthew 23:5–7)

The itch of self-regard craves the scratch of self-approval. If we are getting our pleasure from feeling self-sufficient, we will not be satisfied without others seeing and applauding our self-sufficiency.

Hence Jesus’s description of the scribes and Pharisees in Matthew 23:5, “They do all their deeds to be seen by others.”

This is ironic. Wouldn’t you think that self-sufficiency should free the proud person from the need to be made much of by others? That’s what “sufficient” means. But evidently there is an emptiness in this so-called self-sufficiency.

The self was never designed to satisfy itself or rely upon itself. It never can be self-sufficient. We are not God. We are in the image of God. And what makes us “like” God is not our self-sufficiency. We are shadows and echoes. So, there will always be an emptiness in the soul that struggles to be satisfied with the resources of self.

This empty craving for the praise of others signals the failure of pride and the absence of faith in God’s ongoing grace. Jesus saw the terrible effect of this itch for human glory. He named it in John 5:44, “How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?” The answer is, you can’t. Itching for glory from other people makes faith impossible. Why?

Because faith looks away from self to God. Faith is being satisfied with all that God is for you in Jesus. And if you are bent on getting the satisfaction of your itch from the scratch of others’ praise, you will turn away from Jesus. That is not what he is like. He lives for the glory of his Father. And calls us to do the same.

But if you would turn from self as the source of satisfaction (repentance), and come to Jesus for the enjoyment of all that God is for us in him (faith), then the itch of emptiness would be replaced by a fullness — what Jesus calls “a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:14).

Screener at LAX Tests Positive For COVID-19

In the middle of the task force update, NBC News dropped a bombshell: A CDC contractor who screened arriving passengers for the virus at LAX just tested positive.

The worker reportedly wore the appropriate protective gear while screening passengers — it was not immediately clear whether they contracted the virus through contact with an infected passenger, or if it was a case of community transmission.

According to DHS, the health worker is self-quarantining at home under “medical supervision.” They are experiencing only mild symptoms, similar to a cold. The worker’s family members are also under home quarantine.

The emailed statement also said these screeners are predominantly assigned to the CDC in-transit lounge and a few support jetway screening on direct flights from China.”

The agency added that the “highly trained” individual began experiencing symptoms on Saturday.

India Bans Many Pharmaceutical Exports

SARS-COV-2 has two distinct types (S-Cov and L-Cov) circulating which may explain why some areas are being hit harder than others.

India’s cases have jumped straight through a handful of cases to a small cluster (for a total of 28 cases). In response to this and to the loss of precursor chemical from China, India immediately banned the export of 26 important pharmaceutical products including paracetamol (acetaminophen), and clindamycin (a very useful and popular antibiotic).

Meanwhile the din of public officials claiming that face masks do more harm than good in the public’s hands has reached an embarrassing fever pitch. They are embarrassed to admit they failed to plan and are now on a very dishonest campaign to sow confusion in the public’s mind about the use and function of masks.

Later, when sufficient masks are available, they will then have to try and undo this misinformation campaign. Maybe they should try honesty sometime?

Remember; it’s case, case, case, cluster, cluster, boom!

History of the ATF: How the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms Became Corrupt & Abusive

History of the ATF: How the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms Became Corrupt & Abusive

It’s unlikely that there is a single federal alphabet organization less popular among the readership of this website than the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. These are the people who gave us both the Siege at Ruby Ridge and the Siege of Waco. What’s more, they may well be engaged in an entirely unconstitutional exercise: monitoring and patrolling the gun ownership of law-abiding citizens.

There’s also a solid case to be made that the ATF is a rogue organization, the most corrupt of the federal alphabet agencies. This can be seen through a number of scandals beginning with Ruby Ridge, threading through the siege at Mount Carmel in Waco, and continuing to the notorious “Fast and Furious” scandal.

While firearms owners, weapons enthusiasts and Second Amendment advocates might have a special bone to pick with the ATF, we believe that all freedom-loving Americans should be concerned about the overreach, lawlessness and lack of accountability in this organization. Roman poet Juvenal once posed an important (and famous) question about powerful justice officers: “Quis custodiet ipsos custodies?” – Who is to guard the guardians?

Six Reasons Why Covid-19 Fails The Sniff Test

Authored by Doug “Uncola” Lynn via TheBurningPlatform.com,

Only one form of contagion travels faster than a virus. And that’s fear.

– Dan Brown, Inferno

It appears reaction to Coronavirus has wreaked more carnage globally than the virus itself. Although a 2-3% mortality rate is nothing to sneeze at, it’s not exactly a Biblical plague either; even if virtually none of it passes the sniff test.

1.) The Hype

Again, this blogger’s speculation is that Coronavirus is the remarketing of coronavirus via COVID-19®, and the selective reporting is the hype.  Because this urgency behind Coronavirus in the news makes African AIDS look like the sniffles.

2.) “The Eyes of Darkness”

Paradoxically, Coronavirus Was Eerily Predicted in a 1981 Novel:

3.) October, 2019: “Event 201” in New York City & the 2019 Military World Games in Wuhan, China

Most sources point to December 2019, or January 2020, as the beginning of Coronavirus®.  In truth, it started in October 2019 – when the Event 201 conference took place in New York City and at the exact same time the 2019 Military World Games were holding its opening ceremonies.

4.) The Diamond Princess

Remember the Diamond Princess Cruise ship where the coronavirus quarantine was described to be a disaster?

On February 4, 2019, the day before Trump was acquitted in the senate, the ship was first quarantined with 2,666 guests and 1,045 crew members on board.

5.) Control

These just in… like clockwork; and right on schedule:

Epidemics like coronavirus are putting a spotlight on contactless biometrics

6.) Considerations Regarding COVID-19, Trump, & the Economy

It is very interesting how the same people who, just a few weeks ago, were talking about Trump taking the blame for any economic downturn prior to the election, are now accepting of the current market carnage as due to Coronavirus.  And this is no surprise because the Orwellian Media has universally blamed the COVID-19® outbreak for the economic volatility.

Here is another example from one of the largest news sources in the digital bubble, Yahoo, which is incessantly spraying smart devices around the globe:

Coronavirus has ravaged the stock market and the extreme selling may just be starting

Who do you believe? W.H.O.? The CDC? The Orwellian Media? The Democratic presidential candidates? Team Trump? The Drudge Report? The Alternative Internet?

Why?

Because, it seems Coronavirus® has all the appearance of “hype”– like it’s being milked for all it’s worth. Like trying to prop up Joe Biden with duct-tape and knee-braces to stumble across each state’s primary finish line.

But, to be sure, the public reactions, including within the financial markets, are real. Just like clockwork. And I do believe vaccines and quarantines have the potential of being more dangerous than common, or even uncommon, coronaviruses.

It could be COVID-19 was tweaked to become highly infectious and maybe the elite loosed the virus on the unsuspecting Chinese as an end-game checkmate; and are now using the media to hype it for all it’s worth.

Or maybe the Chi-com’s have used the virus as cover to neutralize “infected” protesters.

In any event, it appears governments have strived to create panic and financial collapse to promote a hoax that would accomplish the destruction.

Why? Because they feel it’s time.

North Carolina’s 11th District got a reprieve for the House of Representatives’ race. Let’s not waste it. When the Asheville TEA party actually had some integrity, they sponsored candidate debates in order to make informed decisions. I strongly suggest a debate be held and I also strongly suggest we find out why Mark Meadows stepped down.

As for the Never Trump issue, I really do not care. There is more than enough evidence to show her true character regardless of the tape’s interpretation. If Lyin’ Lynda’s character is exposed, I have not doubt that she would lose to the Democrat candidate.
