In the arena of grid down communications, wilderness plays a big part. In a SHTF scenario you will most likely find yourself operating outdoors at some point. With this in mind, your training should focus on operating in a less than perfect environment.

If you go outside and look around, you are sure to find somewhere you can practice your craft. It can be a park or maybe your friend’s woods? It may even be your backyard. Wherever you choose, get out of the house! Leave the comfort of your shack and go test your kit. You will not know what works for you until you find out what does not work for you! You need to work out the bugs now, not when the sky is falling. You can go camping and take your comms kit. Get your kids involved, set up a base station and give them frs radios to go “on patrol”.

You probably know already that the EU voted to shove migrants (many are economic migrants, not legitimate refugees) down the throats of countries that object strongly to adding impoverished, mostly Muslim, third worlders to their populations.

There is a detailed description of what happened in Brussels this week at the UK Telegraph.

I’ve snipped a bit about what the Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said.  He is exactly right when he says it is “unfeasible, unrealisable and nonsense” because today it’s 120,000 they are distributing and next month it’s another 100,000 (who are at this minute packing their bags throughout the Middle East and North Africa).  This plan does nothing to stop the flow.

The EU migrant quota plan to relocate thousands of migrants across the continent is “unfeasible, unrealisable and nonsense”, Hungary’s foreign minister said, as Europe’s east-west division was laid bare on Wednesday.

As EU leaders meet in Brussels on Wednesday to approve a plan to relocate 120,000 attacked by eastern European countries, Péter Szijjártó called the quota scheme a waste of time.

Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary voted against the plan to take in refugees and migrants from Italy and Greece but it was forced through on Tuesday.

Under the European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker’s plan, Hungary would receive 1,294 of the 120,000 to be shared by the EU countries.

Close the borders and build camps to discourage new arrivals.  It makes enormous sense to me—the camp dwellers can then go home when the civil war is over (and will be less likely to come if a refugee camp awaits them).

Republican sources say an ally of Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) has attempted to recruit a primary challenger against the GOP lawmaker who introduced a measure to oust the Speaker.

Three senior GOP sources told The Hill they’ve heard Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) has reached out to Republicans in North Carolina’s 11th District to gauge their interest in launching a primary challenge against Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.).

Meadows is a Tea Party favorite who generated national headlines this summer after floating a plan to depose Boehner.
“He has been actively working to recruit a challenger,” one source said of McHenry.

But the sources — two of whom are close to leadership — declined to provide any names of potential recruits.

It’s not even clear such a ploy would work: Since introducing his “Fire Boehner” resolution, Meadows has become a national hero to conservatives, the kind of voters who typically turn out in GOP primaries.

I remember Patrick McHenry would not participate in a primary debate of US House Representatives sponsored by a Tea Party in North Carolina. The drunk Boehner has to go but with cronies like McHenry supporting him, it will not be easy. McHenry is denying the allegations. Are you keeping a scorecard?

You would think that the simultaneous crashing of all of the largest stock markets around the world would be very big news.  But so far the mainstream media in the United States is treating it like it isn’t really a big deal.  Over the last sixty days, we have witnessed the most significant global stock market decline since the fall of 2008, and yet most people still seem to think that this is just a temporary “bump in the road” and that the bull market will soon resume.  Hopefully they are right.  When the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted 777 points on September 29th, 2008 everyone freaked out and rightly so.  But a stock market crash doesn’t have to be limited to a single day.  Since the peak of the market earlier this year, the Dow is down almost three times as much as that 777 point crash back in 2008.  Over the last sixty days, we have seen the 8th largest single day stock market crash in U.S. history on a point basis and the 10th largest single day stock market crash in U.S. history on a point basis.  You would think that this would be enough to wake people up, but most Americans still don’t seem very alarmed.  And of course what has happened to U.S. stocks so far is quite mild compared to what has been going on in the rest of the world.

Right now, stock market wealth is being wiped out all over the planet, and none of the largest global economies have been exempt from this.  The following is a summary of what we have seen in recent days…

#1 The United States – The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down more than 2000 points since the peak of the market.  Last month we saw stocks decline by more than 500 points on consecutive trading days for the first time ever, and there has not been this much turmoil in U.S. markets since the fall of 2008.

#2 China – The Shanghai Composite Index has plummeted nearly 40 percent since hitting a peak earlier this year.  The Chinese economy is steadily slowing down, and we just learned that China’s manufacturing index has hit a 78 month low.

#3 Japan – The Nikkei has experienced extremely violent moves recently, and it is now down more than 3000 points from the peak that was hit earlier in 2015.  The Japanese economy and the Japanese financial system are both basket cases at this point, and it isn’t going to take much to push Japan into a full-blown financial collapse.

#4 Germany – Almost one-fourth of the value of German stocks has already been wiped out, and this crash threatens to get much worse.  The Volkswagen emissions scandal is making headlines all over the globe, and don’t forget to watch for massive trouble at Germany’s biggest bank.

Before dawn on Thursday, Sept. 24, Russian marines went into battle for the first time since their deployment to Syria, DEBKAfile’s military and intelligence sources reveal. Russian Marine Brigade 810 fought with Syrian army and Hizballah special forces in an attack on ISIS forces at the Kweiris airbase, east of Aleppo.

This operation runs contrary to the assurances of President Vladimir Putin to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sept. 21 – just three days ago – that Russian forces in Syria were only there to defend Russian interests and would not engaged in combat with the Syrian army, Hizballah or Iranian troops.

The ISIS force defending the air base is dominated by Chechen fighters under the command of Abu Omar al-Shishani, who is considered one of the terrorist organization’s leading commanders in the last two years. The 27-year-old al-Shishani hails from the Chechen enclave of Pankisi in Georgia, like many others who joined ISIS from 2012.

However, targeting Chechen fighters was not the only reason for the order given by Russian command in Syria to attack the air base.  In DEBKA Weekly 678 of September 11, we predicted that the first Russian mission in Syria would be to break the Syrian rebel siege on Aleppo, Syria’s second-largest city.

As their first step, the Russians would have to prevent the cutoff of highway 5, running from Aleppo to Damascus, and keep it open for Syrian army reinforcements and military equipment to the city.

The Senate blocked a GOP-authored bid Thursday to avert a government shutdown while defunding Planned Parenthood over its abortion practice, in a widely expected result that forces Republican leaders to dig in or turn to a plan B.

With regular funding bills stalled, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell asked Congress to fund federal operations through Dec. 11 to buy enough time for Congress to negotiate funding for the rest of fiscal 2016.

Herd animals herd because there is safety in numbers. Even if the wolves or lions attack, they’re only going to get a small percentage of the herd. Such attacks even have an evolutionary advantage: they eliminate sick or weak members. Those who think humans are not herd animals labor under such vast misconceptions that they are beyond the reach of SLL.

One herd, Wall Street-Washington economists, surpass wildebeests and sheep. Their behavior, because it is so uniform, can easily be described. Membership in one of two subspecies is required: Keynesians or monetarists. Both have long histories of predictions that didn’t predict and policy remedies that didn’t remedy, but they all believe because they all believe. Intellectual foundations this shaky increase individual and group insecurity, so they base their work on the same set of statistics emanating from the government. The government’s assumptions, methodologies, and conclusions are never questioned, except by outcasts from the herd. After all, those assumptions, methodologies, and conclusions come from the herd itself.

The instinctive defensive tactics of the herd are the consensus and the wavering straight line. Economists are well aware of the expectations and predictions of other economists, and tend to cluster tightly around a given consensus. Occasionally an economist will deviate by a quarter or a half of a percentage point from the consensus, instead of the usual range of a tenth of a percent either way. It is thought by those who study these matters that this exaggerated and ostentatious display of independence can, if done only occasionally, make the individual stand out and thus promote advancement within the herd. Or perhaps it’s to attracts a mate.

On Wednesday evening, we suggested that Vladimir Putin’s explicit promise to go ahead with airstrikes against terrorist targets in Syria with or without the help of the US effectively marks the end of Washington’s years-old effort to destabilize and ultimately remove the Assad regime.

The Kremlin’s pronouncement came just a day after the mainstream media began reporting that Moscow and Tehran are coordinating their efforts on the ground (something which should come as no surprise to anyone) meaning any Sunni extremists and/or CIA-trained “freedom fighters” intent on seizing control of the country will now need to go through Russia and Iran, with the latter now seemingly willing to make the badly kept secret of its military support for Assad no secret at all.

Of course the thing about irreparably bad situations is that although they cannot, by definition, get better, they can always get worse and for the US in Syria, that would mean China showing up. Beijing has made a concerted effort this year to project the growing power and influence of the PLA navy. That effort has so far involved an unprecedented land reclamation effort in the Spratlys, a “rescue” operation in the Yemeni port of Aden, and a surprise appearance off the coast of Alaska.

This afternoon, the N.C. Senate Rules Committee approved a bill that will ban the sale of body parts or other remains of aborted unborn children in North Carolina. This action follows the release of a series of undercover videos by the Center for Medical Progress showing Planned Parenthood executives and other staff callously picking through organs and other tissue from aborted babies and haggling over the price, as if they were used car parts.

The bill, adopted as a committee substitute for House Bill 297, states, “No person shall sell the remains of an unborn child resulting from an abortion or a miscarriage, or any aborted or miscarried material,” and it creates a Class I felony offense for a violation of the law. The bill does provide that a mother may “donate the remains of her unborn child after a spontaneous abortion or miscarriage to a research facility for research…” with informed written consent.

The full Senate could vote on this bill as early as tomorrow morning, so please contact your State Senator and urge him or her to support House Bill 297, which will ban the sale of baby body parts in our state!
