Operation Chokepoint

Operation Choke Point is an unconstutional backdoor way of closing otherwise legal companies by cutting off their access to the banking system and capital.  If they can’t deposit their revenue in a bank account or accept credit card payments they are effectively shut down.

There are three problems with Operation Choke Point.  The first is procedural.  The President, through the DOJ, the FDIC, and the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, implemented new regulations without Congress passing any law or even being informed of what was going on.  This executive action was an end run around the legislative process and it prevented any type of public discussion or input on it.

Why the Site Was Down

I had my wallet stolen last week while on a business trip. Our ISP cut off the site due to non-payment since the credit card was cancelled. Obviously the issue is now resolved.

Christian Homes Torched, Churches Threatened as Muslims In Bangladesh Call For The Killing Of All Non-Muslims

‘We want a permanent solution and to live in peace with all communities. The government must help us’: This is the urgent call launched through AsiaNews by Msgr. Sebastian Tudu, bishop of the diocese of Dinajpur, after a series of clashes between Catholics and Muslims in the village of Chirakhota over issues related to land. Tensions peaked on 24 January, when more than 300 Muslims attacked the Catholic community, made up of tribal Santal.

The disputed plots are owned by the Catholic community, which has held regular permits since 1971. At the time, the height of the war of liberation from Pakistan, a Hindu woman sold them the land. Recently, a Muslim attempted to expropriate the plot, but the court ruled in favor of the Santal.

On January 24, over 300 members of the Islamic community descended upon the village. The Catholics defended themselves with bows and arrows, their traditional weapons, and a Muslim was killed. The sparked the Muslims anger and a mob looted rice, food, clothes, money, more than 100 cows, and set fire to all the 60 houses of the settlement.

Egyptian TV Host Ibrahim Issa: Nobody Dares to Admit That ISIS Crimes Are Based on Islamic Sources

And yet your pResident will continue to lie and say that Islam is a religion of peace. You have received the government that you deserve and will not stand up. Voting is not standing up. Empty rhetoric is not standing up. Resist.

Bryn Mawr Changes Admission Guidelines To Accept Transwomen

Students at Bryn Mawr College / AP

Bryn Mawr College, an all-women’s liberal arts school in Pennsylvania, clarified its admission policy on Monday to accept transwomen and individuals who “identify as women” when they apply.

The Board of Trustees sent an email announcing that it had voted unanimously to update its admission rules, which were previously open to “female students only.”

“During its meetings this past weekend, the College’s Board of Trustees discussed and approved a recommendation from a Board working group that was created at the September 2014 Board meeting to examine the mission of the College with respect to transgender, non-binary, and gender nonconforming applicants,” an email from the Board of Trustees said.

“The working group concluded unanimously that the mission of the College at the undergraduate level is to educate women to be future leaders,” they said.

The announcement noted that Bryn Mawr’s identity as a women’s college is “fundamental to its distinctive environment.”

Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free Constitution is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People in a greater Measure than they have it now, They may change their Rulers and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting Liberty. They will only exchange Tyrants and Tyrannies.

John Adams

Our republic is lost: destroyed from within by moral decay and domestic enemies. Those who cling to a false paradigm to justify their blindness will find tyranny at their doorstep. At that point, it is too late.

Russia Threatens Nukes in Crimea

A view of Bakhchisarai, a city in central Crimea / AP

In December 2014 Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told Russia’s Interfax news agency that because Crimea had been absorbed into Russia and was no longer part of Ukraine, Russia “has the right to manage its nuclear arsenal…in accordance with its interests and international legal obligations.”

Even the threat of an introduction by Russia of nuclear weapons into Crimea can be interpreted as a warning to European states that Russia is willing to escalate its effort to control the ‘near-abroad.’ Introducing the weapons also would cement Crimea’s status as “Russian territory.”

Lavrov’s remarks also are further confirmation that Russia has no intention of respecting the 1994 Budapest Memorandum.  At that time, Russia, the United States, United Kingdom and Ukraine agreed Ukraine would become a nonnuclear weapons state under the Nonproliferation Treaty by giving up its nuclear weapons—at the time it had the world’s third largest stockpile with 1900 strategic warheads and 2500 tactical nuclear warheads—in exchange for recognition by all signatories that they would respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Another JPMorgan Banker Dies After Murder-Suicide: Chokes Wife, Stabs Himself To Death

By now, there have been so many banker-related suicides that it has become a moot point of i) tracking them all or ii) trying to find a pattern. And yet, one name continues to stand out: JPMorgan. The bank which has been most prominent among the list of “suicided” bankers notched one more casualty over the weekend when “a JPMorgan Chase & Co. employee strangled and stabbed his wife to death before turning the knife on himself, according to police who are treating the couple’s death in Bergen County, New Jersey as a murder-suicide.”

Bloomberg reports the gruesome details according to which Michael A. Tabacchi, 27, and his wife, Iran Pars Tabacchi, 41, were found dead Friday about 11:30 p.m. in the bedroom of their Closter home after a 911 call placed by the husband’s father, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said in an interview. Closter is located in northern New Jersey, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) from midtown Manhattan.

A Day Of Reckoning For The Euro Has Arrived – 26 TRILLION In Currency Derivatives At Risk

Yanis Varoufakis - posted to Twitter by Utopian FiremanThis is the month when the future of the eurozone will be decided.  This week, Greek leaders will meet with European officials to discuss what comes next for Greece.  The new prime minister of Greece, Alexis Tsipras, has already stated that he will not accept an extension of the current bailout.  Officials from other eurozone countries have already said that they expect Greece to fully honor the terms of the current agreement.  So basically we are watching a giant game of financial “chicken” play out over in Europe, and a showdown is looming.  Adding to the drama is the fact that the Greek government is rapidly running out of money.  According to the Wall Street Journal, Greece is “on course to run out of money within weeks if it doesn’t gain access to additional funds, effectively daring Germany and its other European creditors to let it fail and stumble out of the euro.”  We have witnessed other moments of crisis for Greece before, but things are very different this time because the new Greek government is being run by radical leftists that based their entire campaign on ending the austerity that has been imposed on Greece by the rest of Europe.  If they buckle under the demands of the European financial lords, their credibility will be gone and Syriza will essentially be finished in Greek politics.  But if they don’t compromise, Greece could be forced to leave the eurozone and we could potentially be facing the equivalent of “financial armageddon” in Europe.  If nobody flinches, the eurozone will fall to pieces, the euro will collapse and trillions upon trillions of dollars in derivatives will be in jeopardy.

According to the Bank for International Settlements, 26.45 trillion dollars in currency derivatives are directly tied to the value of the euro.

Let that number sink in for a moment.
