15 Quotes From Our Founding Fathers About Economics, Capitalism And Banking

George Washington At The Constitutional Convention 1787 - Public Domain

by Michael Snyder

Why have we turned our backs on the principles that this nation was founded upon?  Many of those that founded this nation bled and died so that we could experience “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.  And yet we have tossed their ideals aside as if they were so much rubbish.  Our founders had experienced the tyranny of big government (the monarchy) and the tyranny of the big banks and feudal lords, and they wanted something very different for the citizens of the new republic that they were forming.  They wanted a country where private property was respected and hard work was rewarded.  They wanted a country where the individual was empowered, and where everyone could own land and start businesses.  They wanted a country where there were severe restrictions on all large collections of power (government, banks and corporations all included).  They wanted a country where freedom and liberty were maximized and where ordinary people had the power to pursue their dreams and build better lives for their families.  And you know what?  While no system is ever perfect, the experiment that our founders originally set up worked beyond their wildest dreams.  But now we are killing it.  Why in the world would we want to do that?

Well, today approximately 70 percent of all federal government activity involves taking money from some Americans and giving it to other Americans.

What we are doing right now is clearly not working.

So why don’t we go back and do the things that we were doing when we were extremely successful as a nation?

Graham dominates foes, avoids runoff

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) crushed his Tea Party foes Tuesday evening, topping the 50 percent to win his primary outright and avoid a runoff.

The Associated Press has called the race for Graham, who had 59 percent of the vote with 54 percent of precincts reporting. Graham’s closest rival was state Sen. Lee Bright, who took just 13 percent of the vote.

Graham came into the election cycle with a target on his back from South Carolina Tea Party activists and national conservative groups. But he ran hard from the start, raising huge sums for the race and deterring potential foes from running against him, leaving organizations like the Club for Growth without a candidate to back.

Three Steps to Improving Prepper Intelligence

Guerrillamerica

by Sam Culper III

This blog’s readership consists mostly of Patriots and Preppers.  This growing subsection of America is the entire reason this blog exists, and I’m here to advise and enable better security for your communities and homesteads.  If there were just three steps you could take this week to improve your intelligence and security, this is what I’d recommend.

1. Conduct Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) gathering and build intelligence products on the security infrastructure that exists within your county, or a sixty mile radius.  As the intelligence element, we are called to be experts on our operating environments.  In a SHTF situation, first things first, I want to know who’s not on my side.  That begins with authority like political leaders and law enforcement (LE).  Will they support and enforce unconstitutional laws of the regime, or will they make a good faith effort at providing security?  The irregular threat – adversaries like thugs, gangs, looters and other criminals – will be difficult enough to deal with post-SHTF.  If I’m going to have to deal with trained, armed and organized criminals like pro-regime or privateering LE during an emergency, then that’s something I need to know now instead of finding out during SHTF after they’ve stolen my stuff (or worse).  I trust my local LE; that’s a large reason why I live here.  If you don’t have a relationship with your local law enforcement, then get to know them and the officers who live nearest your AO.

Militia means you and me

http://img.timeinc.net/time/photoessays/2010/militia/militia_01.jpg

Ellie Kinnaird’s interpretation of the Second Amendment (“2nd Amendment never said right to bear arms was absolute,” DN, May 27) is an interesting work of fiction, but its basis in historical precedent and established jurisprudence couldn’t be more mistaken.

Ms. Kinnaird’s fantasy vaguely refers to an 1875 Supreme Court case wherein she alleges “that the Second Amendment applies to the government, not an individual gun owner.” A closer reading of the 1875 Supreme Court case United States v Cruikshank affirms what Americans have long known: that the right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental right neither granted nor revocable by the government. To wit: “The right to bear arms is not granted by the Constitution; neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence.”

Al Qaeda Militants Capture US-Made Black Hawk Helicopters In Iraq

View image on Twitter

Just when one thought US foreign policy couldn’t sink any deeper into the hole of its embarrassment, it takes out a shovel and starts digging. Overnight, in what AP describes as a stunning assault that exposed Iraq’s eroding central authority, Al Qaida-inspired militants from ISIS, or the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, overran much of Mosul on Tuesday, seizing government buildings, pushing out security forces and capturing military vehicles as thousands of residents fled the second-largest city.

For those who may have forgotten, Iraq was one of those countries “liberated” by the the United States, which unlike Afghanistan where the opium trade is still important, did pull out its troops two and a half years ago.

Ths shocking takeover of Mosul took place months after Al Qaeda-linked fighers took over another Iraqi town, Fallujah, earlier in the year and which they have successfully defended against government attempts to reclaim it.

That however, was just the appetizer: Mosul is a much bigger, more strategic prize. The city and surrounding Ninevah province, which is on the doorstep of Iraq’s relatively prosperous Kurdish region, are a major export route for Iraqi oil and a gateway to Syria.

Eric Cantor – Tea Partied

In a stunning tea-party smackdown against the establishment GOP Tuesday evening, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., lost his bid for the Republican Party nomination against tea-party backed candidate David Brat by a margin of more than 11 percentage points.

With 98.4 percent of precincts reporting, Brat won the race with 55.6 percent to Cantor’s 44.4 percent.

Fueled by opposition to Cantor’s stance on immigration, tea-party favorite David Brat had gained national attention as a threat to the incumbent’s hold on the largely Republican 7th Congressional district.

Russia Is Actually Abandoning The Dollar

Vladimir Putin

The Russians are actually making a move against the petrodollar.  It appears that they are quite serious about their de-dollarizationstrategy.  The largest natural gas producer on the planet, Gazprom, has signed agreements with some of their biggest customers to switch payments for natural gas from U.S. dollars to euros.  And Gazprom would have never done this without the full approval of the Russian government, because the Russian government holds a majority stake in Gazprom.  There hasn’t been a word about this from the big mainstream news networks in the United States, but this ishuge.  When you are talking about Gazprom, you are talking about a company that is absolutely massive.  It is one of the largest companies in the entire world and it makes up 8 percent of Russian GDP all by itself.  It holds 18 percent of the natural gas reserves of the entire planet, and it is also a very large oil producer.  So for Gazprom to make a move like this is extremely significant.

When Barack Obama decided to slap some meaningless economic sanctions on Russia a while back, he probably figured that the world would forget about them after a few news cycles.

But the Russians do not forget, and they certainly do not forgive.

Incensed about the recent decision to place illegal immigrants in Arizona (without asking the state or having any clear strategy), and also concerned about Eric Holder’s recent announcement that the Justice Dept. will provide attorneys to illegals, Bill vents about the lawlessness on Trifecta.

Obama Signs Executive Order to Aid Student Debt Holders

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkTp0BTekE8#t=1s

Pesident Barack Obama has signed an executive order that will allow millions of previously ineligible student debtors to qualify for the “Pay as You Earn” repayment program, which caps payments on student debt at 10 percent of monthly income and forgives outstanding balances after 20 years of repayments.

Obama’s order could open the benefit to as many as five million borrowers. Previously, in order to be eligible, borrowers could not have taken out loans before October of 2007, and could not have stopped borrowing before October of 2011. Earlier reports said the option will not become available to existing borrowers until December 2015.

Obama also said he will renegotiate contracts with Sallie Mae and other student debt servicers. Last month, Sallie Mae agreed to pay nearly $100 million for allegedly keeping American military service members from receiving lower interest rates while on active duty, prompting some to call for the government to cancel its contract.

T.L. Davis: The Miller Dilemma

christian mercenary

Jared and Amanda Miller finally gave the feds the excuse they were looking for to put all of us “domestic terrorists” on notice. It was bound to happen wasn’t it? And now the post I made only yesterday asks the question of today. Do we have the ability, as a movement, to stomach the sort of thing the Millers did and still stand by our previous statements? Who knows if they were white supremacists, how can anyone know for sure? They draped the cops body with a Swastika, does that say something about them, or the cops? Who are the Nazis in this scenario?

See, how do we, as a community, deal with this act? We know who the cops are; what they are willing to do to innocent citizens. I don’t agree with white supremacy. I don’t agree with racism. I don’t agree with flash-banging a baby in his crib either.

Report: IRS Sent Database Containing Confidential Taxpayer Information to FBI

The Internal Revenue Service may have been caught violating federal tax law: In October 2010, the agency sent a database on 501(c)(4) social-welfare groups containing confidential taxpayer information to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to documents obtained by a House panel.

The information was transmitted in advance of former IRS official Lois Lerner’s meeting the same month with Justice Department officials about the possibility of using campaign-finance laws to prosecute certain nonprofit groups. E-mails between Lerner and Richard Pilger, the director of the Justice Department’s election-crimes branch, obtained through a subpoena to Attorney General Eric Holder, show Lerner asking about the format in which the FBI preferred the data to be sent.
