‘This is what you cook for Ukraine?’ State Dept. Psaki grilled over leaked tape

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW1WDbDX7wE

From YouTube:

Senior US State Department official Victoria Nuland has allegedly been caught giving a harsh message to the EU while discussing Ukrainian opposition leaders’ roles in the country’s future government. The phone call was taped and posted on YouTube. US officials refused to confirm or deny the tape’s authenticity, but State Department spokesperson Jan Psaki said that she “didn’t say it was inauthentic.” While being grilled about this and other tape-related statements, Psaki hinted that the tape could have been leaked by Moscow.

And what is the difference between Russian taping converstations and the illegal NSA surveillance of US citizens?

GAO: DHS Mismanaging Upgrades to ‘Vital’ Border Enforcement System

Border Patrol agents in McAllen, Texas / AP

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is mismanaging an upgrade to its vital border security computer database that tracks who is eligible to enter the United States, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO).

GAO’s Director of Information Technology Management Issues David A. Powner testified before a House homeland security subcommittee on Thursday, regarding millions in waste and failures by DHS to meet deadlines for upgrading its primary border enforcement system.

TECS is the DHS system responsible for “sharing information about people who are inadmissible or may pose a threat to the security of the United States.” The program has been used since the 1980s to prevent terrorism and provide border security, but currently relies on “obsolete technology” that cannot “match names from foreign alphabets.”

DHS began modernizing the database in 2008, with plans to complete its upgrades by September 2015. Management failures, however, make it unlikely that deadline will be met.

In 19 minutes, a team of snipers destroyed 17 transformers at a power station in California

In 19 minutes, a team of snipers destroyed 17 transformers at a power station in California

When a real terrorist attack happens, sometimes we don’t hear about it until months afterward (if we ever hear about it at all).  For example, did you know that a team of snipers shot up a power station in California?

The terrorists destroyed 17 transformers and did so much damage that the power station was shut down for a month.  And it only took them 19 minutes of shooting to do it.

Of course most Americans have absolutely no idea that this ever happened, because they get their news from the mainstream media.  The chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission at that time says that this was “the most significant incident of domestic terrorism involving the grid that has ever occurred”, and yet you won’t hear about it on the big news networks.  They are too busy covering the latest breaking news on the Justin Bieber scandal.

And maybe it is good thing that most people don’t know about this.  The truth is that we are a nation that is absolutely teeming with “soft targets”, and if people realized how vulnerable we truly are they might start freaking out.

28 Signs That The Middle Class Is Heading Toward Extinction

Dilapidated House In Indiana

The death of the middle class in America has become so painfully obvious that now even the New York Times is doing stories about it.  Millions of middle class jobs have disappeared, incomes are steadily decreasing, the rate of homeownership has declined for eight years in a row and U.S. consumers have accumulated record-setting levels of debt.  Being independent is at the heart of what it means to be “middle class”, and unfortunately the percentage of Americans that are able to take care of themselves without government assistance continues to decline.  In fact, the percentage of Americans that are receiving government assistance is now at an all-time record high.  This is not a good thing.  Sadly, the number of people on food stamps has increased by nearly 50 percent while Barack Obama has been in the White House, and at this point nearly half the entire country gets money from the government each month.  Anyone that tries to tell you that the middle class is going to be “okay” simply has no idea what they are talking about.  The following are 28 signs that the middle class is heading toward extinction…

#1 You don’t have to ask major U.S. corporations if the middle class is dying.  This fact is showing up plain as day in their sales numbers.  The following is from a recent New York Times article entitled “The Middle Class Is Steadily Eroding. Just Ask the Business World“…

In Manhattan, the upscale clothing retailer Barneys will replace the bankrupt discounter Loehmann’s, whose Chelsea store closes in a few weeks. Across the country, Olive Garden and Red Lobster restaurants are struggling, while fine-dining chains like Capital Grille are thriving. And at General Electric, the increase in demand for high-end dishwashers and refrigerators dwarfs sales growth of mass-market models.

As politicians and pundits in Washington continue to spar over whether economic inequality is in fact deepening, in corporate America there really is no debate at all. The post-recession reality is that the customer base for businesses that appeal to the middle class is shrinking as the top tier pulls even further away.

Michelle Obama Education

Williams High School student Edom Tesfa at the school in Alexandria, Va., Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, during a workshop to help students fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. One of the tenets in George Orwell’s 1984 was “slavery is freedom”. Michelle Obama yesterday told our children that higher education is freedom. According to CNNMoney:

The average debt load for the class of 2012 was $29,400, according to a report released Wednesday by the Institute for College Access & Success’ Project on Student Debt.

What is slavery if not being indebted to someone? Slavery started through indentured servitude:

a person who signs and is bound by indentures to work for another for a specified time especially in return for payment of travel expenses and maintenance

The first slave “owner” (Anthony Johnson) in the colonies was black. The analogies to our situation today are self-evident. A two-tiered system of justice, the promise of freedom and the reality of being an indentured servant. In North Carolina, 59% of college graduates have outstanding student loans to the federal government. With an U-6 unemployment rate of 16%, the destruction of jobs under Obamacare and a government whose goal is to enslave the people with debt and taxes, the land of the free has become an oxymoron.

Michelle Obama Pitches Student Aid: ‘Almost Everyone Is Eligible’

“Almost everyone is eligible for some form of financial aid, and all you have to do to access that aid is fill out this one little form. It’s so simple,” First lady Michelle Obama told students at a suburban Washington high school on Wednesday.

The form is FAFSA — the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

“[T]hrough FAFSA, the Department of Education provides more than $150 billion every year in low-interest loans, in grants that you don’t have to pay back, and work-study programs that can help cover your educational expenses,” Mrs. Obama said.

She equated higher education with freedom:

Republican US House leadership backs amnesty for illegals

Immigration Reformers and Concerned Citizens,

The Republican U.S. House leadership backs amnesty for nearly all illegal immigrants.

We are focusing on U.S. House Republicans from North Carolina, as Republicans are the majority party in the US House AND their leadership is pressing for an amnesty for illegals and even more foreign guest workers.

See down below for their contact info.

Remember — in this action effort even though most U.S. House Republicans from NC are on our side, we want our U.S. House Republicans from North Carolina to put pressure on the Republican leadership in the U.S. House.  When you call or email, the message (their staff members normally answer the phone or answer emails) is somewhat simple as follows:

“Why does the Republican U.S. House leadership want to offer an amnesty to illegal immigrants in order to enforce our immigration laws?  (it’s an amnesty if illegals get to stay in the USA and receive legal work permits)  Secondly, only four per cent of illegals in the USA do farm work, so why is the Republican leadership more interested in helping illegal immigrants keep their jobs than helping citizens find jobs?  Thirdly, tell the Republican leadership we do NOT need more foreign guest workers, unemployed citizens need jobs.”

Go to this weblink just below to find your member of the U.S. House:

(remember we are focusing only on U.S. House Republicans from North Carolina —- Congressman GK Butterfield, David Price, Mike McIntyre, and Mel Watt are NOT Republicans)

http://www.house.gov   (once at the website, type in your zip code in upper right corner to determine your member of the U.S. House)

Please send this email to your friends and associates.  Thank you.

CBO Director: Obamacare ‘Creates a Disincentive for People to Work’

The subsidies that help low-income people buy expensive health insurance are a ‘disincentive for people to work,” Douglas Elmendorf, director of the Congressional Budget Office, told Congress on Wednesday.

“What the Affordable Care Act does, is to provide subsidies focused on lower- and lower-middle-income people to buy health insurance. And in order to encourage a sufficient number of people to buy an expensive product like health insurance, the subsidies are fairly large in dollar terms. Those subsidies are then withdrawn over time — withdrawn from people as their income rises.
