Garbage in, garbage out: Healthcare.gov's code is so garbled that some users are met with unintelligible text when they try to sign in

Healthcare.gov ‘is not firing effectively on all pistons,’ White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters on Thursday, in what may be the understatement of the week.

When MailOnline visited the website shortly after Carney’s daily briefing, the Obamacare portal spewed a nonsensical mixture of computer code instead of a typical login screen.

Gone were words like ‘Username’ and ‘Password.’

In their place were jumbled programming strings like ‘???ffe.ee.myAccount.login.username???’ and ‘???ffe.ee.myAccount.login.password???’

At a fundraiser, Obama makes a chilling admission about the courts

At a fundraiser in Texas last night, President Obama said his administration is “remaking the courts.”

Here’s the full quote for context via a WhiteHouse.gov transcript:

We were able to reform our financial system so that the likelihood of taxpayer-funded bailouts is a lot less than it was. We were able to expand funding for young people going to college. We were able to expand national service for young people who want to serve. We fought long and hard for consumer protections that weren’t there before.

As Lisa mentioned, we are remaking the courts. I know that we’ve got some lawyers here, and here in Texas sometimes people feel a little frustrated about the pace of appointments here in Texas. But you should know that in addition to the Supreme Court, we’ve been able to nominate and confirm judges of extraordinary quality all across the country on federal benches. We’re actually, when it comes to the district court, matching the pace of previous Presidents. When it comes to the appellate court, we’re just a little bit behind, and we’re just going to keep on focused on it.

IRS Sent 343 Refunds Worth $156K to 1 Address–in Shanghai, China

IRSA new audit-report from the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) shows that the IRS sent at least 343 potentially fraudulent tax returns in 2011 to the same, single address in Shanghai, China, for a total of $156,533 in tax refunds.

The same report also shows that 655 potentially fraudulent tax refunds totaling $220,489 were sent to the same address in Kaunas, Lithuania. Other potentially fraudulent refunds, 580 of them, were sent to the same address in Orlando, Fla.; 355 to the same address in Lakewood, Colo; and another 291 to another single address in Orlando, Fla.

In total, those potentially fraudulent refunds totaled $2,715,391.

On a related note, the TIGTA report, which analyzed Tax Year 2011 tax returns, showed that at least 3,145 persons applied for potentially fraudulent Individual Tax Identification Numbers from the same address at five different locations in the United States: one in Santa Ana, Calif; one in Salinas, Calif.; one in Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; one in Milwaukee, Wisc.; and one in Sanford, N.C.

Bill Gertz: China Deploys New Bomber with Long-Range Land Attack Missile

China’s military recently deployed an upgraded strategic bomber that will carry the military’s new long-range land attack cruise missile, capable of attacking Hawaii and Guam, according to a draft congressional report.

The Oct. 8 draft of the forthcoming report of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission also reveals that China has developed a new armed drone nearly identical to U.S. military’s Reaper. The Chinese missile-firing drone likely was developed through Chinese cyber espionage against U.S. defense contractors.

The report highlights a rapidly modernizing Chinese military that includes large numbers of new weapons and new warfighting techniques, including attack capabilities in space and cyberspace.

“PLA modernization is on track to alter the security balance in Asia over the next five to 10 years, challenging decades of U.S. military preeminence,” the report concludes.

title page 1It may seem like a cheap prank but the Obama administration, which has proven to be among the most secretive, has actually issued its second“Open Government National Action Plan” that promises to build on (delusional) “past successes.”

Even the president’s many friends and supporters in the mainstream media have conceded that government secrecy has actually increased significantly since he moved into the White House, despite promises of an “unprecedented level of openness in government.” Instead, federal agencies have found creative excuses to keep an alarming number of public records secret, according to an analysis conducted several years ago by a national news organization.

The problem has only gotten worse over the years, according to a number of reports and probes. Just a few months ago a national news conglomerate reported that the administration even uses covert government accounts to keep electronic mail from becoming public. When the news outlet tried accessing records of the illegal secret accounts, one federal agency, the Department of Labor (DOL) tried collecting north of $1 million for its list of email addresses by claiming it had to pay 50 people to work three weeks retrieving the records.

Super typhoon Haiyan slams Philippines; ‘significant loss of life’ predicted

One of the strongest storms ever slammed into the Philippines early Friday, packing wind speeds so high that a weather expert said were poised to make it the strongest tropical cyclone ever recorded at landfall.

“There will be catastrophic damage,” Jeff Masters, a former hurricane meteorologist who is meteorology director at the private firm Weather Underground, told The Associated Press.

Typhoon Haiyan’s maximum sustained winds were 195 mph, according to the U.S. Navy’s Joint Typhoon Warning Center in Hawaii.

Thousands of villagers fled as the most powerful storm on the planet this year approached the Philippines on Thursday.

Haiyan was rated as a category-five storm early Thursday, according to Weather Channel lead meteorologist Michael Palmer.

ENDA just passed the Senate!

Obama apologizes for saying people could keep health plans

President Obama on Thursday apologized to Americans who are losing their health care coverage despite his promise that if individuals liked their plans, they could keep them under ObamaCare.

“I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me,” the president told NBC News.

“We’ve got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this.”

Millions of Americans have received cancellation notices from their insurance companies saying they can’t keep their current plans because they don’t meet ObamaCare’s requirements.

Some insurance companies have also announced they would not continue to offer existing plans, saying that it is too administratively burdensome to manage plans that do not satisfy basic coverage requirements mandated by ObamaCare. Instead, they’ve offered consumers more expensive plans that include increased benefits.

The Intelligence Cycle Breakdown

We’re sitting at about 50/50 of the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) exercise participants who “get it” and those who don’t.  The 50% of those who don’t “get it” is the result of a failure on my part.  Let’s talk about the Intelligence Cycle today.

I want to reiterate that we’re in the Planning, Requirements, and Direction phase of this exercise, and not the Collection phase.  I’ve received numerous emails with information compiled through collection (research), which is not a bad thing in and of itself.  The problem is that you’re working on the wrong step.

The reason we use the steps of the Intelligence Cycle is to ensure a methodical approach to solving a problem.  (The problem in this case is our Primary Intelligence Requirement (PIR): What threat does the NBPP pose to my community?  I can’t answer that question right now, which is why it’s an intelligence requirement.)  Without the Intelligence Cycle, we skip steps or make errors of omission, which compromises our data and understanding of the problem, which invariably causes us to perform good analysis of poor or incomplete data, which causes us to provide a poor intelligence product, which causes our people to die, or we kill the wrong bad guys, or it negatively affects our national security or foreign policy objectives.  In your cases, it negatively affects the understanding of your Area of Operations (AO), and leads to what’s called strategic shock.  Strategic shock is the result of a strategic threat that you didn’t know existed, or a failure to acknowledge the strategic extent of that threat.

As of its first reading, Blowing Rock’s proposed parks ordinance, “Weapons on Town Property-Amendment” (# 2013-12), was in perfect compliance with state law. However, the proposed ordinance is on course to be torpedoed by a trio of anti-gun councilmen:  Doug Matheson, Albert Yount and Jim Steele.

If the “Weapons on Town Property” ordinance is not enacted as initially approved, Matheson, Yount and Steele will most certainly attempt to expand the “criminal empowerment zones” in Blowing Rock parks beyond where state law says that concealed carry can be prohibited; up to and including entire parks!

This must not be allowed, and below you’ll find critical information on action you can take to halt this pending attack on your rights.

Please attend the Blowing Rock Town Council meeting, this Tuesday, to send a message to the anti-gun councilmen. They need to see that, when your gun rights are on the line, you will not just sit down and take it. Obama: No Reason We Can’t Do Amnesty Before End of Year

Speaking to a group of business leaders at the White House on Tuesday, President Barack Obama said he did not see any reason a “pathway to citizinship” for illegal aliens could not be enacted before the end of this year.

To make his point, he argued that there are “some very conservative folks” who “believe that now is the time to get this done.”

Obama said that businesses “understand” the economic benefits of legalizing people who are currently breaking U.S. immigration law.
