President Obama is buying votes from members of Congress — with stolen money

By Michael F. Cannon

America has a two-party system. But it’s not Republicans versus Democrats. It’s the ruling class — Republicans and Democrats — against everyone else. Consider how President Obama just gave Congress its very own Obamacare waiver.

Obamacare includes a provision that should cost each member of Congress and each staffer $5,000 to $11,000 per year. Needless to say, the ruling class was not pleased.

Congress wasn’t about to try to exempt itself from this provision explicitly, though. If John Q. Congressman voted to give himself an Obamacare waiver that his constituents don’t get, he wouldn’t be John Q. Congressman much longer. What’s an aristocrat to do?

Obamacare imposes two costs on members of Congress and their staff. First, it kicks them out of their current health plans, leaving them to buy coverage on Obamacare’s health-insurance “exchanges.” Second, it makes no provision for the federal government to keep paying $5,000 or $11,000 toward the cost of their insurance as the Treasury does today.

The second cost is by far the larger one; it amounts to a pay cut of $5,000 or $11,000. Many staffers were threatening to quit or retire early.

When the president’s supporters claim that Congress isn’t being exempted, they mean that Obama didn’t exempt them from Cost No. 1. Which is true. But he did exempt them from Cost No. 2.

Paul Valone of GRNC on New NC Gun Rights Law (HB 937)

Dr. Dan's Freedom Forum

ALERT: Special Program THIS WEEKEND on Freedom Forum Radio

Paul Valone of GRNC Discusses New NC Gun Rights Law (HB 937)

After months of political game playing and puerile posturing, the North Carolina Legislature finally passed HB 937, and it has been signed into law by Governor Pat McCrory.

HB 937 (entitled “Amend Various Firearms Laws”) is a major advance in North Carolina to protect the 2nd Amendment Rights guaranteed to each of us by The Constitution.

OVERVIEW OF HB 937

In summary, the primary provisions of HB 937 allow persons with a valid concealed carry permit to possess and carry a firearm as follows:

  1. in restaurants serving alcohol as long as the person with the firearm does not consume alcohol and is not himself intoxicated
  2. in venues that charge admission such as movie theaters and concerts
  3. in parades and funerals
  4. on educational property and state-owned property (certain conditions apply)

The law also provides for other protections:

Gold Markets Get Strange – Is Economic Danger Near?

Traditionally, metals markets are supposed to be a solid fundamental signal of the physical and psychological health of our overall economy. Steady but uneventful commodities trade meant a generally healthy industrial base and consumption base. An extreme devaluation was a signal of deflation in consumer demand and a flight to currencies. Extreme price hikes meant a flight from normal assets and currencies in the wake of possible hyperinflation. This is how gold and silver markets were originally designed to function – however, I welcome you to the wacky world of 2013, where bad financial news is met with the cheers of investors who believe stimulus will last forever, where foreign investors dump the U.S. dollar in bilateral trade while mainstream dupes argue that the Greenback is invincible, and where everyone and their uncle seems to be buying precious metals yet the official market value continues to plunge.

Is this weird? As Bill Murray would say: “Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria…!”

The reason our entire fiscal system now operates in a backwards manner is due to one simple truth – every major indicator of our economy today is manipulated by our central bank, which uses its printing press to prop up everything from equities to treasuries to municipal bonds. They openly admit to it. They are proud of the fact. They swagger about as if they are the heroes of the day. They act as if we should be thankful. But what is reality here?

First, let’s lay out some very straightforward undeniable facts about our economic situation that no one with any intelligence could argue against:

Fact #1: Our Economy Is Supported By Federal Reserve Stimulus

For the past few years, the Fed has created dollars out of thin air to fill the debt void in corporate banks, in U.S. Treasury Bonds, in city and state municipal bonds, in stocks, and even in foreign banks in the EU. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan and current branch head Richard Fisher have both admitted in mainstream interviews that stock markets are essentially sustained by the central bank, and that this has been done to give people the psychological illusion of economic health. This stimulus has been relatively constant in one form or another, from TARP bailouts to QE1 to QE3. Fed interest rates on bank lending have been artificially reduced to near zero, meaning international banks can borrow money from the Fed (which it creates from thin air) at almost no extra cost. The fiat is flowing nonstop.

Obama tells Leno: ‘We don’t have a domestic spying program’

President Obama on Tuesday defended the National Security Agency’s (NSA) surveillance programs in a wide-ranging interview on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” arguing that the agency doesn’t target U.S. civilians.

“We don’t have a domestic spying program,” Obama said, according to the media pool report. “What we do have is some mechanisms that can track a phone number or an email address that is connected to a terrorist attack…That information is useful.”

Obama called the surveillance programs “a critical component to counterterrorism,” but acknowledged that they’ve “raised a lot of questions for people.”

The NSA’s surveillance programs, first uncovered when former contractor Edward Snowden divulged details to The Guardian, have been the focus of a renewed debate since a weekend terror threat had top administration officials huddling at the White House, and provoked the State Department to close more than 20 diplomatic posts and issue a worldwide travel alert.

Documenting the “undocumented” in North and South Carolina

The Mexican Government is issuing Mexican matricula consular ID cards and Mexican passports to illegal aliens in the N.C. & S.C. areas. If they were here LEGALLY, they would already have these documents.

U.S. accuses Bank of America of mortgage-backed securities fraud

The U.S. government on Tuesday filed two civil lawsuits against Bank of America for what the Justice Department and securities regulators said was a fraud on investors involving $850 million of residential mortgage-backed securities.

The Justice Department and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed the parallel suits in U.S. District Court in Charlotte, according to the court filings.

The securities date to about January 2008, the government said, putting them just at the beginning of the global financial crisis.

Bank of America responded to the lawsuits with a statement: “These were prime mortgages sold to sophisticated investors who had ample access to the underlying data, and we will demonstrate that.

Stocks Biggest 2-Day Plunge (0.7%) In 7 Weeks On Hindenburg Cluster

Another day, another Hindenburg Omen sighting as Fed speeches did little to provide moar exuberance as better-than-expected data keeps hinting at an early Taper and removal of the punchbowl. Stocks have seen two days in a row of ‘redness’ with a mind-numbing loss of around 0.7% for the S&P 500 (and more for the Trannies) that sparked a litany of ‘off-the-lows’ and ‘moral victory for the bulls’ comments as volume remained lack-luster at best (all compressed into the sell-off phase into the European close). The Taper picture remains a little unclear across asset-classes though; as gold, silver, and oil dropped (Taper on), Bonds unch (Taper hhmm), stocks down led by builders (Taper on), USD weakness (Taper not on) but JPY strength was the driver (carry unwind on Taper on). VIX pressed up towards 13% (its biggest rise in 7 weeks) and credit is underperforming.

BREAKING! Benghazi Bombshell: Valerie Jarrett, Commander in Chief

Val Jarrett

Confidential sources close to Conservative Report have confirmed that Valerie Jarrett was the key decision-maker for the administration, the night of the Benghazi terrorist attack on 9/11/2012.

The chronology of the evening of 9/11 are as follows:

At approximately 5 PM Washington time, reports came in through secure-channels that Special Mission Benghazi was under attack. Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey summoned the President, and briefed him on the crisis, face to face.

Two revelations are deeply troubling:

AC130U Spooky

First, it is reported that an Army Special Forces team was present with an AC-130U Spooky (also known as a Spectre Gunship) on the tarmac at the airport in Tripoli, Libya. The Spooky is a technologically sophisticated, tactical aircraft, operated by the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command.

The second, and most troubling aspect of the refusal to issue Cross Border Authority is, who issued the refusal.
